  14. In a world full of cookie-cutter sports broadcasters, I will always give a big thumbs up to guys like Hawk, Steve Lyons and even california stoner surfer dude Rex Hudler. You young'uns out there count your blessings that you never had to listen to Jack Drees when he did the Sox games on TV. If I was wasn't born and raised a Sox fan I might've ended up paying more attention to the Cubs because Jack Brickhouse was much more entertaining. Lucky he did Sox games also back in the day.

  16. QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) No, that's not it. But to label any poster's good faith effort a the worst anything ever is a bit extreme. Debate the content, but respect the poster. Respect is a good thing..wouldn't you agree? Thanks. Respect is good but not en vogue . I simply asked a question to be debated. I highly doubt the braintrusts of the Tigers and Twins would've made these acquisitons if they thought those players would hurt them. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) I thought it was more a tongue in cheek thread starter that would have been fun to kick. It's not like Perez and Nevin are franchise players but considering Nevin's post All STar game stats against righthanders I'm sure the Twins feel he can fill a specific role. I like playing devil's advocate but I don't like being insulted by people who's only way of feeling like a man is to rip others.
  17. Big Hurt had some monster years with the Sox . No telling what his numbers would be like if he hadn't got hurt so much the last 3-4 years. I've kept a close eye on him all year and his batting average has gone up every month . He's well over .300 post All-Star break which I believe is an indication of his health and shaking off the rust . There were many on this board who were truly convinced he was through last year. Really very happy for him.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) Sure because Anderson never has caught a liner in the gap. Never this year. Another thing, Anderson positions himself a hell of a lot better. And has natural instincts off the crack of the bat. The ball DeJesus hit was a screamer and wasnt all that high. Put the blame where it belongs, on Contreras.
  19. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Grudz is hitting over 400 on the season vs us Situational baseball . Gotta do it even if its Babe Ruth up there.
  20. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Wow. This is pure dogs***. I am so f***in pissed that Kansas City continues to beat us around. Was that shot to centerfield catchable? Or did Mack just f*** it up as usual? We need to have our f***ing starters in every game from here on out. God dammit Ozzie. Cintron and Mackowiak should not be playing. It was a gapper pure and simple sharply hit . Assuming BA starts in the same position as Mac theres no way he gets it.
  21. 2nd and 3rd 1 out . Why not walk Dejesus to set up the doubleplay ? Grudz promtly hits a sharp grounder to short and we're out of the inning down 3-0 instead of the 7-0 hole we now face. The errors dont bother me half as much as not walking DeJesus swich ended up costing us 4 runs.
  22. QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) Funny line from Bill Simmons Sports Guy column of today: Insert your own joke here. ...and a spiked do a foot high and eyeliner .
  23. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:19 AM) I love to sit in these seats and stare at pods worthless ass. Now next season maybe someone useful will be out there and I can stare at Uribe's worthless ass in my fancy angled seat. I'm sorry for your disability. I had no idea you were incapable of turning your head.
  24. QUOTE(rowand @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) perez was the worst player on the cubs...now he is the worst player on the tigers and has cost them many runs with his poor defense. Many runs ? 0 errors since joining the Tigers. While I realize errors are not a definite true measure of fielding ability, I can't see how you can back up what you just said. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) Nevin hit that against the weak NL. How good do you really think he is going to hit against the better AL. Phil Nevin is poo on a stick bad. Neifi Perez has to bat remember. He is horrible. He is just poo. Time will tell . Since 4 of our 5 starters are right hander and aren't exactly setting the world on fire, I can see Nevin helping the Twins against us. All it will take is one key hit against us in the last series against the Twins to make this pickup worthwhile.
