  1. Did Reynolds actually play at the Cell ? When did he retire ?
  2. Was That the Bears out there ?? 2 touchdowns 2 extra pts against a safety. What a pummeling . Just remember in 59' the Sox won 11-0 in the 1st game against the Dodgers. The Yankees won game 3 last yr 19-8 led the series 3-0 at that point and Boston still came back. That being said Boston's pitching isn't as good as last year so let's keep the mo'.
  3. Yea Pat Kelly. He played with Melton and Carlos May and Dick Allen and Jim Kaat probably Bucky Dent ,Terry Forster and Goose Goosage . Had some real talented players on that 73" team. Don't know if my memory is right of who was on the that team . I liked those red pinstriped uni's . RIP Pat and God bless your family.
  4. I'd like to make it to Tin Horn Flats for some of the games against Boston. Unfortunately I work Tuesday and I can only make night games if there are any. Feel free to use my list at the bottom of my message to contact any other So Cal Sox fans. If you make anything definite for Tin Horn Flats that I can make I will be there. Also pin the message.
  5. I never considered myself superstitious but my true colors showed as we lost game after game and the lead shrunk so fast. Thoroughly disappointed by the "choke" avatars, I joined the Rally Crede group to show my support. But even then I didn't think I was being superstitious . I was just supporting the group of fans here who wanted a more positive approach. In the key game of the season where the "Rally Crede" kicked in the Sox were behind 2-0. I had recently picked up one of those mini-bats that are given away on Bat day. It said Cleveland Indian's on it. After Joe hit his 1st homerun to tie the game I jumped up grabbed the mini bat and burned off the words Cleveland Indians hoping to silence their bats. Needless to say, as we all know, Crede's 2nd homer gave the Sox the much needed win. Although the Sox lost the next game against the Indians and the 1st 2 games with Detroit ,the Indian's bat's did indeed fall silent against Tampa Bay. We won the next 2 games and the division was ours !
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Fearing a choke is one thing. Believing it is going to happen is another. That's saying nothing about "bragging" that it will happen by putting up that avatar. Piss poor excuse for a fan, if you ask me. And if you don't ask me, consider it said anyway. I'm sure we all had that fear. Let's face it , we owe Tampa Bay a share of the playoff money. As far as the choke avatar goes, I'm in agreement with you Yas. You and I both have been around to see more disappointing seasons then most of the guys here but would never consider "expecting" a choke. Diff'rent strokes I guess.
  7. Hey JC , JC you're alright by me hanna ho hanna hey Superstar. From the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar if anyone cares.
  8. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Fathom, I started a WC Help thread for scores of Boston and NYY if you wanna join me and post there Where is that thread?? Toronto up on Yankees 7-3 in the 3rd.
  9. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I am a big aaron supporter, but the way he has been hitting and the jumps he has gotten on ball in the past few games, tells me that he isnt all there. maybe a break would help him out. I was thinking about having anderson or borch playing CF, but the reason that I put willie is because of his speed. we won games at the beginning of the year with speed and small ball, and with willie in the lineup that gives us another speedster in the lineup Since I 2nd guessed you I'll give you a chance to 2nd guess me. Here is my lineup. LF Pods.. He's still hitting good even if he's not stealing bases. 2B Iguchi.. can't argue with what he's done all yr. in this spot. RF Dye.. Closest thing we've got to a true #3 hitter. Power, speed, B.A. 1B Konerko.. best power source. CF Rowand.. best on team with 2 outs and RISP. DH Everett.. has killed Mays in limited AB's 3B Crede .. moved up 1 spot because of his hot streak. C AJ SS Uribe
  10. Sox management's new philosphy is to dump big salaries such as Maggs and CLee in order to free up more money for good but less pricey players. However that philosophy is only good if you have sumone like Pk to fall back on. We need at least one guy capable of hitting 40 Hr's and that guy is PK. Sign him before the season ends. Resigning him now will be a positive in the midst of the whirlwind we are in now.
  11. Willie hasnt played CF all yr. Why would u want him in the lineup over Aaron anyway ? Good effort . At least you had the guts to be the 1st one to actually post a lineup.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) There is a group of people hear who everytime someone complains, from Ozzie to Marriotti, it's always STFU. Kong and his kontract? STFU. Ozzie and fans booing? STFU. Gooch batting 2 instead of 3? STFU. I LMAO that people somehow think players 1. Are not human, with human emotions. 2. Can be so easily distracted. 3. Should only talk to the person directly. Of course the posters don't follow that in their own lives. Anything but going to the press , that just makes a bad situation worse. Wouldn't you agree?
  13. Willie Mays is a pitcher now ?? Damn he's as old as El Duque . We should kick some ass no matter what the lineup is today.
  14. Thanks for that. Always nice to know the man behind the player especially when he succeeds while overcoming obstacles. He is a credit to Cuba and to the will and perserverance of the human spirit.
  15. Hell I wish OG would move Dye to the 3 spot. He's the closest thing we have to what you want in that position , speed, power, average. Since Aaron is the best on the team at hitting with RISP with 2 outs move him to 5th, that way in the first inning he could be up there with 2 men on and 2 outs. We were playing our best ball jumping out to early leads.
  16. Just get in the playoffs. Anything can happen there. Pods will start stealing again, pitchers will shut guys down and the D will be great and well, Ozzie will be Ozzie.
  17. Are the Sox in the playoffs yet??? Cross that bridge when we get to it.
  18. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) Some kind of obscure "School of Rock" reference? Good one . Poor dyslexic kid meant Blackjack McDowell.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) Who benefits from Carl STFUing? Garcia? Pods? Joey Cora? Ozzie? Nancy Faust? These are adults. 30,000 screaming fans don't faze them, but Carl unhappy and talking will totally f*** up this team. If this team is that fragile, they are soooo screwed. Tex, don't think those disagreeing with you necessarily want Carl to STFU totally. The fact of the matter is he took it to the press first which isnt part of the White Sox organization. If Carl wants to gripe thats his right but gripe to the man making the lineup. Sit down and talk face to face . How hard can that be ?
  20. I don't think anyone think's we can go 6-4 down the stretch. But I'm with ya buddy. Just hated seeing your thread looking so lonely.
  21. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) That's pretty interesting. I also wouldn't think 4.80 to 4.333 would cost us that many games in terms of our record. That's an average of us scoring about one less run every two games. I think back to the smartball thing and that's certainly valid. With Podsednik hamstrung, we are no longer scoring early nor often. That and I feel like our starting pitching is gassed and our bullpen is not up to the task. Besides games against Oakland, how many times did we get blown out in the 1st half of the season? Look at it this way we're scoring almost 1/2 a run less post all star break. Imagine we had increased that same 1/2 run. It's a huge difference especially when you play as many close games as we do. The difference between pre and post all star game Sox is that we can't get that extra run we need to win the close games anymore. Some blame the pitching but we won because the pitching was dominant in the first half. Now that it's come back down to earth people blame the collapse on that. It's unrealistic to expect the staff to be dominant all year especially with no history of being dominant from guys like Garland and Hermanson. But basically it's a teamwide collapse. Pitching , hitting, fielding , baserunning all worse. Everything Ozzie does now backfires in his face. The hitting has pretty much sucked all year. Now that we can't manufacture runs or get the clutch hit anymore we're spiraling down like we're caught in a whirlpool.
  22. QUOTE(Allsox @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) What's the point of getting on base if you can't steal AND you're the leadoff man?!? It's like having Konerko leading off with a single and you're stuck with him at first since he can't steal a base.... UMMM maybe because getting on base is better then making an out ??
