  1. I read more negative stuff in the threads about our players than i would ever read in the Cubune. Everyone's a critic. Crede sucks, Garland sucks, Willie sucks, Timo sucks, this guy sounded bad in an interview. Paulie's a jerk Shingo sucks. You're all like a bunch of whiny lil b****es. Nothing's ever good enough for ya. I'm ecstatic . The Sox are winning and pitching great. The glass is half full not half empty. Try to remember that next time.
  2. Just an ignorant guess on my part , but I doubt they want any proof ,as long as you have the voucher. I'm sure many teachers give these things out to students as rewards or pass them along to friends. C'mon already thats the Chiacago way to do things even if they ask for proof , say you didnt know you needed it since it doesnt say on the voucher.
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) Those PETA Southsiders will be "all up in your grill" for that one, homes. No way ! My dog doesnt like the northsiders either.
  4. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 04:53 AM) See bold type above......"never crosses my fingertips" indeed........ and I agree...... to you, C Lee! Best of luck in Brewtown!!!! I had my dog type that
  5. Since Carlos Lee was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers I have seen myriad opinions. Some praising some damning. After watching Carlos against the Cubs it made me realize he was a true White Sox. A player the city and more so Sox fans, should cherish the memory of. Yes , I know I ended the sentence in a preposition. My apologies to all those nuns and priests who tried to teach me better. His rise from "oh Lord they hit it Lee" to "damn , Carlos threw another guy out" is truly a Carl Sandburg, City of the Big Shoulders, blue collar , My Kind of Town inspirational story we can all appreciate and admire. Now if i was a sportwriter I could tell many tales of his diamond exploits against our hated crosstown rivals, whose name never crosses my lips nor my fingertips for that matter. It is for that reason alone that we , Sox fans , as a whole, should raise a glass in salute to our dearly departed "El Caballo." I respectually ask that if you have anything negative to say about C. Lee please refrain. This thread is a celebration of his time with us and a sincere wish for continued sucess with his new team. One thing I rarely saw when discussing the trade was that Sox management traded him to a team in a division so he could continue to :fthecubs . Here's to you Carlos , Chicago style
  6. Fav. ex-Sox Carlos Lee. Retired: Robin Ventura, Carlton Fisk, Dick Allen, Greg Luzinski, Tom Seaver, Steve Carlton, Ken Berry, Joel Horlen.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Jason, I think the base only forum is great idea, even if Texsox suggested it. Sometimes the ball just jumps away from the "base" and there isnt a damn thing you can do to prevent it.
  8. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Your Chicago White Sox are atop the division alone at 3-1 Now let's hope they maintain this top spot throughout the year and never look bad Did u possibly mean to say and never look back ??? Dang me Tex u beat me to it.
  9. I say he will get one when some 1st baseman is playing way off the bag.Take what they give you . The Rock (Tim Raines not the wrestler/movie star) should've preached that to all of them.
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) I didnt see Sox highlights on the BBTN on the trifecter Nothing on the 20 minute version of BBTN (3 shows in one hr. hence the trifecta name) They were too busy showing Roger Clemns, Dontrell Willis, Kerry Wood and Marquis Grissom walk off HR. I was pissed but there were some good stories in the majors yesterday, though I dont count another Cubs loss as one of them. I guess once you K 20 in a game the media can't keep their beady lil eyes off of you. And the El Duque, Twins/White Sox matchup seemed to be a good story. But since ESPN is showing the Sunday game between the Sox/Twins you would think they'd have half a brain and do some build-up to it.
  11. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 06:56 AM) Does he pluck his eyebrows????? Yes and he bikini waxes !
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) Four Four Four Four runs in four games. Yep ONLY four runs given up by the 1-4 SPs of our Chicago White Sox. Now, if we can just keep the bullpen out of trouble. As Moses Malone once said about what he expected his team to do in the playoffs ," Fo, fo ,fo." Eubonics lesson for the day is concluded
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Hawkins 02-05 Pitches 1-15 626AB .252A .278O .363S .641OPS Not closer material. C Lee had an RBI DB, H, 1K, 1W in 7PA. That RBI DB was Milw's first. C Lee 2005 3G .357A .400O .786S 1.186OPS Not too shabby. Juggy heres a stat for you from the new rules regarding sigs. Up to 10 lines of text is allowed if no image is present in the signature. By my count u have 9 lines of normal size and one line of larger size font (which equals 2 lines) therefore you have 11 lines of sig. Maybe the mods will allow it.
  14. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Let's just hope Duque doesn't give up a grand slam to Jose Valentin when he comes to town this June... Don't you mean Jose Valentine ?
  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Jose Valentine? He gawn. Once gawn who can remember how to spell their names. I guarantee some sports writer and/or commentator somewhere said "It's Valentin(e)'s Day for the Dodgers.
  16. Jose Valentine just hit a pinch hit 2 run homer in the 9th to give the Dodgers an 8-7 lead against the D'backs.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Why did KW sign Hermanson? Jermaine Dye will be injured too much and won't match Maggs' production in 2005. Podsednik won't steal any bases cuz he can't get on base. Carla Everett is worthless. El Duque is too old and can't go more than 5 innings All this s*** was heard or read over the offseason, and we saw the complete opposite of it tonight. El Duque's will surprise everyone with just how good he is. Thats from a march 28th post of mine on the thread what has spring training showed you.
  18. GRRR i hate games on WCIU . No freakin twins tv for this game on DirectTV . I can watch 6 freaking games on now and none of them are the White Sox. Missed all 3 game against the indians cause of day games and work and now this . I'm jonesing to see a reg season game.
  19. I know its a new feature and all but is anyone using the chat room? I come home from work and write a few posts and sit in chat waiting to see if anyone will show up and no one does. I know there's a 2 hr. time difference between Cali and Ill. maybe you're all in bed . If you show up and do a sound effect I should hear it and reply.
  20. Hey chill its spring training for posters too. Always wanted to use this, seemed like a good spot
  21. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) I don't mean to add any pressure (not that he reads this anyways) but this is the ONLY reason we brought in El Duque. His MO is that he is a money pitcher. You feel kind of funny calling the fourth game of the year a money game, but let's face it-it's worth slightly more than your typical game. Tomorrow isn;t the end of the world if we lose but it is a tremendous oportunity to let Minnesota know that we have a new top starter in town I agree wholeheartedly. This is precisely why El Duque was brought in here. After 3 days at work and missing the day games on TV I sure hope the Twins are broadcasting this one. WCIU games means my MLB DirecTV package will have to pick up the Twins feed.
  22. Very happy with 2 outta 3 against a team most "experts" picked to finish ahead of us. Starting pitching was awesome. Glad to see Iguchi and A.J. play well. Wish Crede would start hitting. Rowand should be batting 3rd against lefties no doubt in my mind , the rest of the time he should be no lower than 5th. If you wanna play semi-small ball doesn't his batting avg. make him more valuable higher up in the order? Let's beat the crap outta the Twinkies
  23. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) How many closer by committee bullpens have been successful though? Hermanson blew some big ones last year. I also remember a game where Politte dominated the 8th inning and came out for the 9th and quickly gave up two hits. Shingo's command was off today, he usually doesn't leave those fastballs up like that. Last year Hermanson had 17 saves in 20 save opportunities. He is also one of our few relievers who is capable of pitching 2-5 innings. Hermanson absolutely should have got the call in the 9th. No disrespect meant for Shingo but as previously mentioned Guillen had already used up quite a bit of the bullpen with his 1/3 inning binge. After saying all preseason that he wouldn't be afraid to use different pitchers to close out the game Guillen possibly let a personal decision to get Shingo another save interfer with the outcome of the game and contradicted himself in the process.
