  1. QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ May 29, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) the venting around here is crazy. some people cant get over it. thats why i read and dont post alot. like i always say. relax enjoy this team and see what happens. cant get mad at a baseball game you have no control of the out come of the game. i dont like them losing but theres nothing i can do about it. Your attitude is a lot like mine. I'm a huge Sox fan but I've learned over the years to just let it go. If i wanted to be a GM I'd play fantasy baseball. I'd like to see what some of the GM's on this site are doing in their fantasy baseball leagues and let us all jump all over them about what a s***ty team they have and what a piss poor job some of their players are doing.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 29, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) If I didn't know we were in first and ran across this board, I'd swear the Sox were in last. Better stop all that "glass is half full" talk before your "cool admin by teens" moniker is revoked.
  3. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 29, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Blood, sweat, & tears. And a little cat-fighting along the way. LOL yea some catfighting for sure. During a losing skid I've been pretty quiet. Guess I was taught if you don't have anything nice to say dont say anything at all. Outdated concept I know. Soxtalk would be pretty boring if everyone applied that rule. I finally broke down and vented against the venters. Seems as it many of us have reached the boiling point with the recent skid of .500 ball.
  4. QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ May 29, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I didn't know people were so sensitive. Perhaps this website should come equiped with kleenex so folks can wipe away their tears when their feelings are hurt. You probably label war protestors as "fair weather" patriots. An equally ignorant arguement. I'm not at all sensitive but if I was is that a bad thing? Could be you're a masochist and enjoyed kicking people or teams when they're down. Maybe it was "cathartic" for John Gacy to kill people. If you love the Sox you're not very adept at showing it. I'd hate to be your dog , g/f ,wife, kid, friend etc. I'd rather hand someone a kleenex then hurt their feelings in the first place. And comparing war to baseball is utterly idiotic . I see in the 10 Commandments "thou shall not kill" but must've missed the part about whine like a lil girl when my favorite baseball team is playing poorly. Here's a kleenex.
  5. QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) As for Crede, the man has had his chance. Play time is over and its time for the Sox to move on. He's a sub .240 hitter. For a power position this is not good. If he played the outfield we'd call him Joe Borchard. Moreover, I'm new here and unaware of protocol or unwritten rules for posting, but I think speaking your mind is important. Even if you're mind is filled with negative thoughts pertaining to the Sox offense. Candor can even be cathartic after the disaster in Texas. Do you really need to be aware of protocol or unwritten rules of posting in order to be decent to people ? Maybe its cool to be hateful and I'm just an old fart. I'll reserve my opinion until I see something positive from you if you're at all capable of that. It's so easy to be up when we win and down when we lose. Do the phrases fair weather fan or jumping on and off the bandwagon mean anything to you ? Enjoy you're catharsis but I for one don't need it. On to the next game and hope for the best .If it doesnt go well all the whining in the world won't fix it.
  6. QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) let's get off this guy. considering this thread was over the top negative from start to finish, i don't think senor crede's posts were that bad. i think he meant the hitman comment in jest. as long as he wants konerko at the all-star game, i'll give him some time to get his feet under him lol Calling sumone a putz is bad though I've seen worse. Most of the new posters seem to be really negative along with some of the major posters (jabroni ). Maybe I'm just to used to losing but in reality a baseball season has an ebb and flow that requires patience when things are going badly. Since the Sox are still in 1st place I'm pretty happy with the season so far. Frank , Gload and El Duque are returning soon so the team should improve. Yes I know the hitting sucks but all the whining comments outweigh the positves by a longshot. Maybe thats because we all have been given a ray of hope for once and hope to God they aren't dashed as in seasons past. I don't think I look at things through rose colored glasses or wear White Sox blinders. Maybe I'm just looking for a little more respect from everyone. When there is little consesquence to acting like a juvenile deliquent the inmates will rule the prison and the lunatics will run the asylum.
  7. QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ May 29, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) I'm not loading the gun either......I'm tightening the noose. Are you really a White Sox fan or just join the website to screw with us ? You seem reasonably intelligent , good vocabulary, grammar , etc. Does your whole mood depend entirely on White Sox baseball ? Why the name calling ? Usually a new member with get a warm welcome because we all love the Sox but you seem intent on acting like a jackass. Your whole attitude is negative from your screen name to all your comments. Go beat your dog or something because you will need to do something once you get booted from here.
  8. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) And i do realize i spelled Huff's name wrong. :banghead Is there any way i can fix it or will it just have to stay like that. I feel like a complete dumbass. You also spelled your screen name wrong .say it aint so
  9. On the fun side of things , it was fun listening to Blackjack singing during the rain delay on MLB.tv.
  10. Game today officially postponed. Doubleheader in August.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 25, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) I disagree about Iguchi. You have to remember that the Japanese baseball season is not as long as MLB, plus the extreme difference in travel amounts here. Add to that the fact that he's constantly making adjustments to new ballparks, new pitchers, new circumstances. That kind of stuff can wear a player down physically and mentally over the long hual. Ozzie is trying to keep fresh and keep him sharp. You have to think about all those games we still have vs. Minnesota late in the year. We want a still effective Iguchi for those games. Ozzie has to think about more than just today's game as he's managing this team. As usual you are the voice of reason Yas. ( Do you know how much I hate that ? ) You can sure tell the graybeards on Soxtalk , patient , used to the ebb and flow of the season. No panic in you, just fatherly reassurance.
  12. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) That means happy bday Jeff Bagwell too. Two HOF'ers born on the same day of the same year? And with eerily similar lifetime stats too. Happy B day big guy !!
  13. Just listened to the tail end of it and that Earl Weaver profanity laced rant about why the Orioles dont get more speed is priceless . I wish I had it recorded. The music aint bad either.
  14. If Beane wants to get rid of Zito he'll find some sucker club to give up a few talented, near major league ready prospects. After all he's still young, a left hander and a Cy Young winner. But it wont be the Sox. We're just not into high priced slumping talent but I'll add if the price was right (No BMAC, Sweeney, Anderson, Fields) and we can dump a salary (Konerko?) he'd be worth a gamble.
  15. I think El Duque just has a tired arm. I saw him smiling in his last start when they were about to take him out and he was smiling on the bench Friday. Doesn't seem to be the behavior of a guy who's hurting much. Maybe he had some kinda freak accident after the game today. But combine a tired arm with the fact the Cubs are a light hitting team and the conditions for a successful start are good. The Sox are well aware that BMac can handle the pressure though this will be a huge test to keep his composure.
  16. Good job Jason with all your work in FutureSox. I 'd like to publicly thank you for the Sox/Angels tix for Monday. If I manage to go to another game during the series I'll tell u which one so I can shake your hand and thank u in person. Best Regards Ron
  17. The ASG is 1 1/2 months away is it not ? No one is a lock at this point.
  18. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 18, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Long, but good article on Jon and Co. Great article. I love those people behind the player articles. In this case seems his mom is an amazingly knowlegdeable women about baseballand one hell of a mother.
  19. Dye was actually Jermaine to the outcome of the game.
  20. I am so impressed with Gooch. I 'm just amazed at how well he has done. If he wasn't such a good number 2 hitter I wouldnt mind seeing him get more opportunities for RBI. If Paulie and Deadeye Dye continue to slump putting Iguchi # 5 or 6 should be considered . But how the hell can you take him outta the 2 hole when he has been perfect ? Let's hope Frank's return sparks a return to form for Paulie. With all the chances he's had to knock in runs he could be leading the league if his average was .260.
  21. I've never had the opportunitiy nor the inclination to hang with atheletes. However, I was driving north on the 5 freeway in L.A. county a few ago and saw a silver BMW with the license plate "Say Hey 2". Figured it was Willie Mays or a Willie Mays fan. He exited the freeway where I did and pulled into a Shell station. I followed and figured I better be extremely nice cause he has a rep of being surly. Buttered him up saying him and Mantle were the 2 best centerfielders of all time and asked for an autograph. He growled back "Do you mind if I get my gas first " ? After he got his gas he gave me his autograph. "Best wishes Willie Mays". Not a bad experience. Quite a while ago I was in a little bar next to the Pantages theater in Hollywood when Muhamed Ali walked in followed by many people. He was out in public after having recently saved someone life. I couldn't get close to him but being rather tall, he caught my eye in the mirror behind the bar and said "Don't gimme no trouble big guy" in that typical Ali wide-eyed way. I stammered back being caught totally off guard that he spoke to me "don't worry I won't. " The bartender got me his autograph after that.
