  1. Rock bottom yet ? Robert replaces Moncada as most despised/misunderstood/complacent ? 10 run inning after 6 no hit innings ? Don't know your coaches name ? Rock bottom knows no bounds. Tune in for more fun bad today !
  2. He looked pretty damn good his 1st 10-12 starts last year. I don't know why everyone is so quick to write him off.
  3. The title begs the question what exactly is ending tonight ? I can think of much better things to end concerning the Sox than the current losing streak.
  4. LOL Eloy can't even get a hit on a pitch lobbed right down the middle.
  5. He's not exactly killing righties either. Lots of soft contact. He's just been so swing happy and like all MLB swing happy players it's not helping him at all.
  6. Cease ERA creeping up towards 4. Keeping his OF's busy. Nice catches by Colas and Robert.
  7. I don't know how you assess terrible in that particular AB. He's been riding the pine maybe getting drilled on taking more pitches. That particular AB wasn't a good AB to start taking pitches and the one he took for a looking K was 98 on the edge. Still probably not a great idea to put him in against a tough lefty like McClanahan.
  8. It was all doomed the minute they named the field Guaranteed Rate with that blood red sign and down pointing arrow.
  9. Lynn should've had a K on that 2-2 pitch to Varsho. It was a perfect pitchers pitch.
  10. Not only when Gio comes back but also when Hendriks and Crochet come back also. Both should have rehab assignments and I have no idea when those come but if Colome also comes up this BP will be getting a makeover and look quite different in possibly a month or so. Also by then maybe we have TA and Moncada back too.
  11. Yup agree. All this BS talk like they know what's going on inside every players head and have this effort meter they shine on the players so they know it's not there is ludicrous. Despite losing 3 in a row against TB . I saw progress. TB was 10-0 at home. The Sox got them into the 9th with a lead and they went 10 before losing. They were averaging 7 runs a game. Sox held them under that. The BP has been pitching better . TB leads baseball in team ERA and Sox gave them games in 2 of the 3. The problem is always and always will be perception. Losing always equals lack of mental and physical effort in a fan's head especially on a team that we all perceive as lacking in many departments like player development, scouting and coaching. There are many many people involved in the product on the field and the results ( wins and losses ) are a collective result of many different people not standing between the white lines.
  12. That's the thing though Wegs. Pressing should not result in swinging more and if it does then they don't understand the concept of baseball as a team sport. The more base runners, the more runs you score, the more you win. The more you swing at pitches out of the zone, the more pitchers will throw pitches out of the zone, the less you get on base, less base runners, less runs, less wins. It's a simple unselfish way to play the game. At some point with enough guys getting on base heros emerge. The approach has to be the same no matter the situation. Pitchers pitch you in some combination of up ,down, in ,and out and various velocity and spins. You have scouting reports. You should have a good idea of what's happening up there. I don't mind guys looking at pitches on the outside edges for strike 3 because teaching for those away pitches is how they end up swinging at stuff out of the zone away. Hitting is extremely difficult. So difficult in fact that your have to eliminate and identify pitches you won't swing at because they don't play into your strengths. You cannot cover every pitch and that's the problem many times teaching these guys an opposite field approach. They look for too many pitches where they are reaching and making weaker contact instead of preaching patience. Patience equals getting better in zone pitches , pitches you can get in front of and pull. Pulling equals harder contact, more barrels more HRs.
  13. I'll wait to see what happens when Hendricks, Crochet, Kelly, Anderson and Moncada come back. I ve never really entertained the idea of keeping Burger at 3rd and moving Moncada to 2nd because Moncada plays 3rd so well. However I think the time has come to try it. Nothing to lose at this point. The team is already a disaster. Get as many bats in the lineup as possible who can hit for power. The BP is already starting to look better although for some reason Graveman hasn't been pitching all that much. From April 2nd to the 18th he only made 4 appearances. He makes too much money to be used so sporadically. Yes I am holding out hope that since the Division is bad a playoff appearance could be in the cards. It still means something. As long as I'm paying attention no sense rooting for them to lose. That doesn't mean that you overlook expiring assets. Trade whoever is an upcoming free agent. Get younger, faster, good defense and power players with a good health history even if it looks like you are losing the trade. This might mean more upper level minors talent that seems blocked by the talent in front of them. But if that isn't possible you still have to pull the trigger when you need more talent in all levels.
  14. There are very few players that choke up and if they do it's part of their normal approach. Guys who choke up because of the count not in their favor is even more rare. It's so rare in fact that I will challenge anyone to give me a link to any MLB player who chokes up more than they normally would depending on count or situation (outside of Rizzo ). I'm not saying it wouldn't help. There are articles out there that explain how it can be effective but I don't know how often it is taught. Barry Bonds choked up. There is science to support it especially when it is necessary to make contact which may help with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. When someone like Sosa comes up and struggles it does make you wonder if any of these hitting coachesactually even think about suggesting chooking upor just to have a 2 strike approach that doesn't ever include it. https://tbonesbaseball.com/unlocking-the-power-of-choking-up-a-guide-for-baseball-players/
  15. All right Eloy !!Your help in scoring runs is needed badly.
