  1. Seconded. Despite the terrible history of the Sox it is nevertheless a rich history.
  2. Pretty funny that he intimidated a lot of the young pitchers. Never shake off Pudge.
  3. I see you got some screen time right at the beginning .
  4. There are a couple of guys primed for breakouts on the Sox and Kopech should be near the top of that list. Vaughn is the other one. I'd include Colas but can't talk breakout unless you are reaching a point where you were projected to be a star but haven't quite got there yet. Robert and Eloy kind of qualify just because they can't stay on the field. We've seen glimpses of that top level talent but not for a full season ever from both of them. Anything resembling near peak performance from several of the breakout guys could mean big things for the Sox.
  5. I trust Colas to be better than Moncada as a hitter. There's no way I'm putting Moncada 5th against righties. I want a hitter there not a walk/K guy. He has a lot to prove. .400 slugging guys shouldn't be batting 5th even if his slugging is slightly higher against RHP. Since Moncada will be in the lineup every day because of his defense I'd bat him 8th or 9th against any kind of pitching until he proves he can still hit. I know people are going to talk about pressure if you put Colas in the middle of the order but he is a middle of the order hitter against righties. I can see a more cautious approach vs. LHP with him but replacing him with Romy ? NO ! Every indication is that he can hit LHP pitching too. Trust the kid to be almost everything he was in the minors. I don't want to establish a pattern of him not getting AB's against LHP. He should be a fixture in the lineup like TA, Benintendi, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Andrus, Vaughn and Grandal. He's got a lot of helium right now. I've been saying for a while he's going to be a savage and I'm not backing down from that even if I end up replacing Harold jokes about Kelenic. The whole lineup 1-9 has to play and only rested on given days off. Switch those 9 guys around depending on the handedness of the pitcher but play them all as much as possible. Grandal should get the most amount of rest but after that plan on having them all play 140+ games.
  6. That's highly debatable that quote from MLBTR. Great fielder who had a career year in juiced ball 2019 . 4 War in 2021 with Career High OBP but barely got above .400 slugging. Cratered last year . Injuries? Maybe . Career lows in just about all offensive categories. Crucial year for him. Has to get to at least 2021 levels and improve the BABIP back up to normal for him. Trouble is we have no idea whats normal with him. Outside of 2019 his Slugging % is around .400 When you talk about Moncada 2019 shouldn't be talked about any more. Major outlier because of the ball. I'm not saying Burger is the answer at 3rd. There's a reason he's playing more now at 1st Base. Hoping Ramos hits a ton this year in his age 21 season . Seems like a good year for him to make a leap.
  7. Damn leave for a few minutes and missed the Colas HR I've been waiting for lol
  8. Vaughn triple. Might've been an inside the Park for anyone else and he scored on a wild pitch 5-3
  9. Hewlett Packard ? Horse Power ? Highway Patrol ?
  10. Austin Nola Solo HR off Clevinger in the 2nd 1-0 end of 2
  11. Clevinger Grisham K Tatis jr. single Cronenworth Line Out to SS Carpenter (Tatis steals 2nd) FO to LF
  12. Colas isn't a speed burner and against a LHP maybe don't be so aggressive but maybe he was told go on the 1st move.
  13. Grifol wants to see mistakes. Colas needs to learn a lot at this level. Grifol needs to see things about his personnel if he is to utilize them in the best possible way.
  14. 2 outs need a decent secondary lead when the pitcher goes into the wind up and off with the crack of the bat. On the plus side both him and Grandal stinging the ball was good. Kind of surprised Smlyly didnt pitch around Grandal a little bit with the LHH Colas coming up.
  15. There are clear and obvious reasons not to send him down also. If you have ever criticized the FO about not caring about winning and players know that's how this team operates and you have a manager that is trying his best to change that mentality the FO needs to send a message about supporting the manager's way of doing things. Also if you have ever criticized Eloy or Sheets defense in the OF and how Eloy increases his chance of injury every time he's out there along with the FO not caring about winning it's about time those things change and a little support from the FO would go a long way. This is not purely a business decision nor should it be. It would be a typical" the Sox are cheap and don't care about winning" move. Don't you think the fans are sick of that s%*# ?
  16. I am not indifferent to putting the best team on the field. I'll wait to see how Colas does the rest of the spring , however, it sends the rest of the players the wrong message about a winning culture when you send the most qualified person down. If Pedro is serious about building a winning culture then I would suspect that he would be adamant about keeping Colas as the opening day starter and the FO sending him down would be in direct opposition to that culture to him and the rest of the team. If Colas struggles then the opportunity to get the extra year can be gained during the season can it not ?
  17. What year would be the extra year ? 2029 when he's 30 ? Might help if they concentrated on winning now. People want to see him not Sheets, Reyes, Romy, Leury, Marisnick or Hamilton in the OF.
  18. We don't see eye to eye on how Rodon sounds. Everything he said perhaps he deserved it and it motivated him and that he kind of manufactured the slights into making them real for extra motivation.
