  2. Seasonal depression to Valentine's Day to Spring Training, St. Patrick's Day, Opening Day. You understand now ?
  3. Yeah it's just a new face to make familiar to Sox fans and interesting because he is hitting well so it's a ST story. Long way to go. It's like people thinking Burger deserves a roster spot because of 2 early ST HR's . At this point Alberto is more useful than Burger just because his glove works. Sorry Jake learn left field , make yourself tradable.
  4. They were playing a local Taiwanese team Taichung.
  5. That's not going to happen 50-75 is a lot. Benintendi and Colas would both have to miss time . I don't foresee Colas being a big enough detriment with the bat to give up on his defense . More than likely if you stick Eloy in the field you're just asking him to get injured. If the Sox haven't learned by now that they need Eloy's bat in the lineup, they never will. As a manager Grifol should want Eloy to play the OF if needed .After all he wants him to be fully prepared. Did you know Colas had a higher OPS against LHP than RHP in the minors ? Most of his HR came against RHP because like most LHH he had 3 times the number of PA against RHP. I don't expect Colas' transition to be seamless. Like most players he'll go through periods where he struggles but i do expect him to be in the OF most of the time. Sheets also had a .900 OPS at home last year. I don't expect him to repeat that but I also don't expect his puny OPS on the road either. But I'm not expecting him on the OD roster and if he isn't as a LHH 1st baseman then Burger won't be either considering the vast majority of pitchers are RH.
  6. It's like people forget what ST is all about. It might mean some times it might not mean anything and that applies to the people doing good too. In that case you hope it does mean something. After all a good ST can elevate a players status for making the team. Like Colas if he came out sucking and K'ing a bunch it's easy to say send him down and get the extra year. But he's got hits off a few LHP and is spraying the ball all over and not K'ing much. Any day now he'll hit a bomb. 9 players from the Sox gotta be leaving for the WBC soon so plenty of chances to show your stuff.
  7. 3 runs in still no outs .SHeets singles up the middle to cut it to 5-4. 1 out 2 on.
  8. I'm not Outman back patting . It's only spring training and I made a point of saying "a nice spring" not a nice season or career and I wouldn't have said anything but @bmags said Outttmannnnn ! since he liked him too and I responded to him. Long way to go before I can say he's a good player.
  9. Outman is having a really nice spring. I took a lot of crap for bringing him up so much lol.
  10. Going to die on that Colas to AAA hill. Well I guess I might die on the Colas to play on opening day hill also . But at this point I think people are assuming Colas on opening day. I'm not really but the extra year might be a good idea if he is really really good and I have always thought he would be very good. But that's also a reason to have him from the start. If this might truly be the one final push year in the window I want every advantage no matter how small. Who knows where the Sox will be in that extra year. I actually have no idea who the bench will be besides Zavala. All the names are out there in this thread. Marisnick, Hamilton, Alberto, Leury, Romy, Sheets. Really hard to say who has the advantage. Grifol really letting them run wild on the bases so far as steals are concerned. That might eliminate Sheets along with his defense. Grifol might be stressing defense along with speed to enhance ways of scoring and preventing runs to increase wins. Would be nice if some of the speed and defense guys could hit a little too. That's the main problem with choosing bench guys.
  11. Gotta credit Burger for the hustle too seemed like a pretty routine DP ball. He's not slow. Surprised he hasn't expanded his horizons to LF . I always wonder if his Achilles is pain free now.
  12. Someone mentioned Banks already so I didn't include him. It was you .
  13. If Bummer isn't ready to go the other LH guys are Andrew Perez, Sammy Peralta, Nate Fisher, and Garrett Schoenle .
  14. Among the early crazy numbers, our 2 RHH 2nd basemen Andrus and Alberto Andrus: 4 for 8 , double triple HR, 2 BB, 1 SB . .500 , .600 ,1.250 , 1.850 Alberto: 7 for 11 , 3 doubles, triple, 1BB .636, .667 , 1.091, 1.758
  15. After today's game Colas has the 2nd most PA ,16, on the Sox along with TA and Eloy. Burger has 18. Sheets has 12.
  16. The game could've ended in a tie when Burger hit a DP grounder to short but beat the throw to 1st to keep the inning alive. Ramos came up next with his swinging bunt up the 3rd base line to score the runner score Erick Gonzalez from 3rd who had walked after 1 out. Sox had 6 steals and 1 caught stealing. 2 successful double steals. Grifol managed the game down to the last batter. LH Duke Ellis ,who was the only one to get caught stealing, was supposed to hit but a LHP was on the mound so Grifol PH Ramos. I'm sure some of managers would've let Ellis get his 1st AB and settled for the tie but he put Ramos in a position to succeed and he came through.
  17. Bottom 6 Leury K Seby single Hamilton PR Hamilton balked to 2nd Haseley HBP Double steal 2nd and 3rd . Sox 2nd double steal and 5th SB of the game Sosa pops out Erick Gonzalez bloops a double to RCF 2 RBI Reyes GO Sox 4 Rangers 3
