  1. He's a rental ,1 year and is a terrible OF. You want to give up a prospect for a rental ? They should done buying rentals. It fixes nothing. The rebuild is over . 1 year of Winker solves what exactly for the future of this franchise ? If you haven't noticed Soxtalk is made up of many different people. There is not a hive or collective mentality hence many different opinions .
  2. Hence the "if true" . But it's Hahn so you never know. I don't pay attention to twitter. As far as I'm concerned it's not worth reading but it shows up in the thread so I read it and comment .
  3. Well we've heard rumors that he's lazy and a drunk. If true he only can help himself and seek help.
  4. If this is true (Winker) we'll see more action in the Fire Hahn thread. He's got only this year as a free agent on his contract. He's worth nothing. And Kyle Lewis please no. Why trade prospects for these guys when you can just claim Stone Garrett with keep the prospects.
  5. I think he'll play some time in the OF but he'll be the primary DH. I think they have finally seen enough of Vaughn, Sheets and Eloy in the OF. Colas should be put in RF and never benched ever unless its a super tough LHP out there but even then let him sink or swim. He'll adjust quickly and he should do very well against RHP. We need his defense and arm in RF and his power in the lineup. Who'll be in LF is the question that has to be answered.
  6. I think we need a satirist cartoonist to depict the Sox or Hahn in the fetal position in the womb sucking their thumb with a thought bubble that says "It's real cozy in here."
  7. I was all over wanting Brantley before he signed with Houston. Many here weren't because of injury history. Now its 4 years later and although still a fine hitter the Sox need guys who can catch the ball. There's no room for " but where would he play" guys. Eloy is the DH, period.
  8. Would be a joke come true. Don't need to be wasting money on old, over the hill DH's.
  9. Also a terrible fielder in LF . Waste of money.
  10. I'd take Stone Barrett. Not an established MLB guy . Did well in limited time with the D'backs. Speed and power hitting OF. Courtney Hawkins with MLB potential. Turning 27 soon. Power, speed, defense. He's RH.
  11. Toronto may be pushing hard for Nimmo is what I'm getting from all this.
  12. Right we are more or less on the same page except rather than sign 2 meh players like Kiermaier and Gallo I'd just sign one and probably the best starting pitcher the Sox can find for $15-20M for 3 yrs max and that would be it. Always need pitching. The rest of the team just fill with young guys ready or not here they come. Seek some defense support the pitchers. It's obvious the Grifol hiring was to get inside the young players heads and see if he can work some "be more like me" magic on them. Work hard, communicate, if you want to be the best do what the best do , stop wasting your talent stuff. Moncada may be a party boy alcoholic and he may need more than Grifol. At least we're hearing Grandal is working with the Hawks strength and conditioning guy. It may be called fluff but still it's a serious attempt to be better. Now if only we can hear about those things as the off season progresses for Moncada and others. It's really what the season hinges on, bounce backs from guys who were injured and terrible . Due for some good luck with Eloy and Robert.
  13. There goes McGuffey's dream of trading Giolito for Hernandez unless it's a 3 way .
  14. I did also say player development , which isn't necessarily players but more like getting the tools necessary (scouts, coaches and all the up to date tech, new departments etc.). At least Garrett isn't the typical Sox guy who is more of a DH OF than anything. He's a burner with power who can field.
  15. As much as you despise Hahn I am shocked that you would recommend wasting money on guys like Gallo and Kiermaier. That's just throwing good money after bad to try to salvage this .500 team. It won't work. Scour the guys being DFA'd now with the roster crunches. Stone Garrett seems like someone who would be good to replace Engel with some upside to his game, and the Diamondbacks let him walk. Invest in youth now.
  16. Stone Garrett was an impressive MILB HR hitter and plays all 3 OF position. Don't know anything about him as a fielder . Lots of holes in his swing ,K's a ton, but definitely intriguing. I'd be looking to pick him up if he's a decent fielder. Edit: Read some scouting reports, very fast , built like a linebacker. Defense seems fine. The kind of guy Kenny would have loved , much like Courtney Hawkins only Garrett has fulfilled some of that raw athlete stuff into being a pretty toolsy player. Get him around Tim Anderson for guidance of athlete turned baseball player. Most of this is from when he was 18, he's almost 27 now so as a 4th OF type he seems to fit the bill with upside. Too bad he isn't LH but to replace Engel I'd take him in a heartbeat over paying Kiermaier.
  17. They had one with Jon Morosi earlier too. Basically if you're talking about guys like Adam Frazier and Kiermaier those are just fill in players who you're better off not spending the money on and just going with internal options. Hahn's made those mistakes before. Give Sosa, Davis Martin, Colas and Romy lots of time. Those are their current best options. Neither podcast mentioned Benintendi who seems as if he could be the most logical option if the Sox even want to spend as much as that which is debatable when starting pitching is the need that might cost the most. It's going to be a long long post season of meh. It's like its 2016 again chasing bounce backs that'll never happen and giving away guys like Bassitt, Semien and Tatis. Hold onto those guys now and don't dick around with garbage vets.
  18. Yonder knows as much about the White Sox as he does about hitting. Most obviously biased comment towards your countryman ever. Paid talking head with no clue.
  19. Non-tender date is 11/18 . Might be something to keep an eye on since Sox might be shopping for cheap upgrades. Feels like the rebuild years again and even then I don't think the Sox signed many guys from the non-tendered.
