  1. No there isn't a window any more. The Sox have been playing .500 for 1.5 years now. I know people some times need to be be hit over the head with a brick to believe it but they are officially bland now. (again)
  2. Typical is the White Sox talking multiple championships when nothing in the whole organization is championship level. We are now on the slide back to irrelevance. A new manager is inconsequential to that slide. If there are people left around here that think the Sox ruined their window by hiring LaRussa I feel bad for them. The seeds for disaster were planted way before LaRussa arrived. LaRussa was just a weed from those seeds. The LaRussa weed withered but the others are flourishing.
  3. 40 years of a backwards acting and backwards thinking organization and you think the fan base is off kilter ? The small outrage over a potential Guillen signing should pale in comparison to 40 years of wandering in the desert as a franchise. Reinsdorf hasn't exactly been Moses leading us to the promised land . All he does is limit the franchises' resources in so many areas to limit the teams capabilities of operating like a franchise that cares about winning. Name one part of the Sox organization that is up to par with the best organizations in baseball .
  4. Why does that matter ? The closest anyone got to mentioning an out of the blue candidate was @Dick Allen who just said it because as fans we don't know jack. How convenient to be cryptic (except about Getz) then claim you knew about a guy earlier but didn't mention him .
  5. It's not reveling in the negative narrative. It's discussing the most recent narrative. Espada yes then no, Long, who knows any rumors about any others ? Not really.
  6. Ha well I guess I didnt write KW then. Maybe someone else. I'm old with hazy memories ! Maybe I just thought he should've been called up earlier and thought about writing someone about it in the Sox FO. Luckily I said "may have" because I wasn't sure about the timeline either.
  7. Belle also was a "take no prisoners" kind of player. If you were on the opposing team you were his enemy. Very combative guy.
  8. I know Frank was a 1st ballot HOF'er but I always felt he didn't get his just due while playing. He was robbed of All-Star Games and at least 1 MVP by roiders. Look at the guys we're talking about possibly having had a chance to come here, McGwire, Bonds and we had Sosa pre roids. All were media darlings because of the insane amount of HR's they hit. I remember thinking when Frank was in AA that they should've called him up earlier. I may have even wrote KW about it.
  9. Oh I was actually at the forefront of the new talk about Guillen just because I listened to a podcast earlier than most people. After that all the new tweets and Kaplan's video and the rest started passing the baton later yesterday.
  10. DH isn't a position that needs flexibility. It needs a very good hitter. The OF needs better defense. The lineup needs another LHH and LF is a place for one. The Sox have been screwing around with terrible fielders in the OF for way too long pretending like defense or lineup balance doesn't matter . That's s%*# team building for a team that kept talking about multiple championships and a long window. Eloy is what he is. If he's ever going to get close to his full potential it'll have to be as a DH. I'm sick of seeing shorts bursts of it. Stay on the field and show me a full season of it.
  11. I mind because he could be a special player. He'll probably struggle with K's and walks. I think he'll have a much better 1st year than Vaughn did because he is LH and won't be facing same handed pitchers the majority of the time like Vaughn did. You also don't have to take him out for defensive reasons or pinch hit for him against LHP. Once he's in the game he's in it til the end. It would also be nice to see at least one of our OF's piling up some assists and making base runners respect his arm.
  12. I did say if they committed to attempting to sign Schwarber early enough that they altered their thinking on other signees. So the time travel comment means nothing. The Sox early commitment to Kimbrel and Leury were head scratchers to begin with as was the Kelly signing later. The whole off season was a WTF from the start including not giving Rodon a QO. LaRussa , Menechino and Hahn or the whole front office or Reinsdorf letting LaRussa influence things so much collapsed the window beyond repair. I'm just saying that the only way to possibly to have prevented it was either not sign LaRussa in the 1st place or not give him so much control. But Hahn made it much worse by never prioritizing the LHH bats or starting pitching we needed. Trying to dissect how a Schwarber signing would've made things is a debate no one can say for sure how it would've turned out considering how many things went bad in 2022. It's disgustingly bad given they actually thought they made the team better doing what they did for the last 2 years. Hahn shouldn't have a job .
  13. They're not going to sign Nimmo and they are going to go super cheap no matter how you slice it. They have too much money on the books and too many players no one would want because of bad years, injuries and future salary obligations. Anyone expecting anything to improve the team this year, outside of a new manager and his coaching staff, is in for a long long winter.
  14. I'm not saying I ever wanted Schwarber. I don't think I made very many posts about wanting him, if any. Plus you can get wrapped up in WAR numbers all you want but he did lead the league in HR's and saying that he was worth only 2-2.5 wins makes it seem like his power hitting wasn't worth that much. You can play that game only so much. A Schwarber signing by the Sox probably would have meant someone else wasn't signed. Perhaps Kimbrel gets traded for young and cheap player instead of Pollock or if a decision was made to go after Schwarber early enough they don't even pick up his option. Maybe they don't sign an injured reliever for 2 years $17M. Maybe Leury isn't given 3 years. Maybe with Schwarber here it inspired the rest of the team to ditch the Menechino approach to hitting and more guys hit more HR's. If you just go by the numbers you're discounting any butterfly or domino effect a guy hitting 46 HR's has on your team. If you are truly saying signing Schwarber would've been a terrible move given what actually transpired this year. I am very very hard pressed to believe it.
  15. If that was the intent I didnt see it. He didn't specifically mention the Sox offer being a large % incentive based in his post . But if that was his intent it's funny in a pathethic kind of way .
  16. Um no it won't. And I'll go so far as to say that over 50% of his contract will be guaranteed money vs your 20%. It may or may not get $100M but the majority of it will be guaranteed.
  17. That didn't stop the majority of the board from thinking it best not to try to resign him because of his injury history. If Nimmo gets $100M which he probably will, I guessing however many teams that are in the bidding won't care too much about his injury history. That's how you make your team better. There is no such thing as a signing being 100% risk free. People didn't want Schwarber because he couldn't field. Yet we endured the play of Sheets, Vaughn, Pollock, Leury and Eloy in the OF and injuries that kept Eloy and Robert off the field and the ineptitude of Grandal and Moncada's LHH .The OF, offensively and defensively and the LHH was a hot mess.
  18. He should. Not many teams are playing service time games anymore And a team that's supposed to be a contender absolutely shouldn't be playing those games any way. He's a good fielder . He left handed he hits for power. I thought he should've been up at the end of last year to get acclimated to RF at home and to get some experience in a pennant race. Other's disagreed siting service time of course. Backwards thinking. It's better he get some growing pains out of the way in a season that was going down the tubes or at worst desperately needed defensive and offensive help from the left side and in RF. So the Sox either feel he wasn't ready or they wanted to wait til May w/e it is to get as much time from him as possible while sacrificing wins . If you want guys to have 150 game seasons it's best to call them up and let them play and contribute as soon as they can. He's already 24 why f*** with him? He's already lost too much much developmental time to going from Cuba to Japan and to the US. It's fairly amazing he got his act together in one year in the states. He deserves a reward not more " I own and want to make sure I own you as long as possible" BS.
  19. I heard a lot of that about Rodon . Nimmo played 151 regular season games and 3 playoff games. Please tell me when one of our core guys plays 151. Career year no doubt but he walks, plays good defense, has some pop and is LH , all things the Sox need.
  20. My 2023 White Sox OF: LF Luis Robert, CF Brandon Nimmo, RF Oscar Colas. Or since Nimmo really won't be considered: LF Benintendi, CF Robert, RF Colas.
  21. The Getz thing was started by @Harold's Leg Lift and Harold just said he no longer thinks Getz is a possibility.
  22. No "if" about it . https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox-talk-podcast . Start at the 13 minute mark. About 10 seconds later Garfien said it.
  23. I don't know the timeline for when someone said Guillen would be interviewing and when Guillen denied it. But The podcast had only been listened to less than 100 times when I listened to it this morning. The podcast was released early today. Maybe things changed but I doubt Garfien would say it if it wasn't true since he did the post game shows with Guillen and they are "friends".
