  1. And the question remains does he even know he is doing it ? And if not maybe the analytics team can say something to someone who can tell him ?
  2. I thought he almost got hit in the face . When you're stretching and getting low those higher bounces can blacken you eye pretty good.
  3. Even when you guess wrong which is a lot , good hitters have an ability to adjust. especially on a pitch right down the middle.
  4. We was my favorite at the time. Not that I really pay that much attention to the draft but I liked his name and his stats.
  5. Sheets should always be playing at home. He's a monster offensively at home. Bench him on the road where he sucks. Analytic's department should've told TLR this stuff already but we have no idea if analytics is as awake as TLR is .
  6. He's playing a lot more RF in Birmingham and still getting many many hits and hitting LHP very well too. Also a rifle for an arm. I'm less worried about his defense than I am his offense. Defense plays right away with a slight adjustment for learning parks. Offense against MLB pitching is always the hardest obstacle. Just have to wait to see how long he stays in AA. If the Sox don't promote him to AAA by September, they may not be considering him for the team this year, which would be a shame , IF he continues pummeling MiLB pitching.
  7. Which is precisely why someone wants Singer to shove it up the Sox rears. Known for his hatred of that pick and love of Kelenic .
  8. Likely had to do with the CBA and late start to the season. Didn't want the minor leaguers finishing up too much ahead of the parent teams.
  9. Yep I already checked a couple of weeks ago when I got questioned about that before. I think their season ends Sept. 28 ?
  10. We just have to wait it out for about a month or a little longer and see if he keeps mashing and that the Sox promote him to Charlotte It's also very cool that he is hitting LHP pitching extremely well also. If the Sox finally realize that Sheets is a monster at home vs. RHP and just let him DH at home against RHP and put Colas in RF at home and on the road against all pitching to get him acclimated maybe he could be lightning in a bottle for the lineup. and at least for much better defense in RF. Sorry Yasmani you have 1 month to prove you can still hit HR's . Still have to hope TLR would bench Grandal for Sheets at DH against RHP at home.
  11. I think you are seeing what you want to see. I didn't really care. I wanted Happ and Wendle and neither of them got traded. I would have settled for Gallo because how many trading periods do the Sox have to go through before they acquire a LHH who can actually be called a hitter AND play defense. Not sure Gallo fits the Hitter part. Sheets is actually a very very good hitter at home vs. RHP but sucks on the road. But Gavin gets sent down if Gallo arrived. Go look up his home road splits the last 2 seasons vs. RHP or just see my post in the winners thread against the Royals.
  12. There were plenty of people on here last year defending Vaughn's OF play so let's not kid ourselves . I was one of very few who didn't have Vaughn fever about him playing in the OF in 2021. Most wanted to see him get AB's any way he could, which has worked well for his development as a hitter getting to be around pro's and getting a better feel against MLB RHP. Someone will always defend the stats on his OF play last year ( and plenty have) but the sample size was too small for anything conclusive. Anyone with any knowledge of baseball could see he never had the speed to play OF effectively over a longer sample size and I said as much. Menechino probably helped him a lot with his hitting. Maybe he'd have a lot more HR's zoning in on pitches in his sweet spots and only using the Menechino approach with 2 strikes. He should also be getting more walks but like Tim and Eloy he is effective going to RF and doesn't let the outside pitches go by risking K's and leading to less walks.
  13. Beating divisional opponents is a vitally important 1st requirement to making the playoffs.
  14. Gallagher promoted apparently based on June July stats of 9.1 IP 3 hits 16K and 2 walks. 26 yrs old.
  15. LOL Wow. No one should ever complain about SHeets bat when the Sox are home, 173 wRC+ at home against RHP On the road its a 24 wRC+ against RHP. That's about as drastic as it can get ! Only 18 less PA on the road. Maybe someone from our vaunted analytics department should point that out to someone. Don't play Gavin on the road. Any idiot with a computer looking at stats, like me, can find that info. It was the same last year too 197 wRC+ vs RHP at home. 93 wRC+ vs. RHP on the road. So the info has been out there a while. 2021 and 2022 combined its 183 and 53. Total PA at home 210 , on the road 220
