  1. LOL Wow. No one should ever complain about SHeets bat when the Sox are home, 173 wRC+ at home against RHP On the road its a 24 wRC+ against RHP. Holy moly that's a big difference ! If Gavin could hit on the road against righties like he does at home he'd be a superstar .
  2. When Eloy is hitting like he's hitting now he's the only one who adds a big offensive threat he's truly the DH. Sheets has negative offensive WAR despite his HR's at home. Sox just need some OFers who are actually Ofers.
  3. Burger did too but they don't want him now because of his fielding.
  4. Maybe we get a glimpse of Carlos Perez in Sept. and don't have to pay for one.
  5. I can't even argue any more. Welcome to the future of mediocrity following the present mediocrity.
  6. Don't give them too much credit for being smart. JR just decided he didn't want to spend anything . Hahn's job this deadline was move McGuire or he'd be DFA'd. He did that then skulked back into his doggy cage.
  7. I don't think any of the 3 guys I wanted went. Happ, Wendle and Perez. Wasn't sure Perez would go because he loves Tx but Rangers must be dense. Get something for him and just resign him next year. He's still going to be a Free Agent either way unless they already have some kind of handshake agreement with him. But if he finishes the season strong, he may not return to the Rangers when he's facing many millions of $$$$.
  8. Probably not a bad bet given the Sox Suck at home, facing a RH and should be discouraged on how the trade deadline turned out. Then again no one can actually get a handle on how this group will perform. After all they've made a habit lately of losing the 1st game of series then coming back and winning or splitting series. (trend bet ). TLR just can't help himself balancing the lineup. Can't put Grandal 9th in the lineup . With nothing left to lose and the 9th spot being a productive part of the order this year don't use baseball knowledge or your gut , just go with magic. That's the only way to explain why Sox hitters do well batting 9th.
  9. Anyway .They got one relief pitcher for an expiring asset in McGuire. Which is better than DFA'ing I suppose. Otherwise they stood pat because they didn't want to spend any money because the geniuses in charge from top to bottom can't stop spending too much money on relief pitching and RH positions player.. It's just pretty sad and ironic that the 1 move they did make kind of rubs their own noses in their mistakes in a poetic justice way.
  10. Nah Hahn didn't have the money to make other moves. Among my many ,many posts when it came down to actually predicting what I thought the Sox would do I said they could probably spend $10-15M at the deadline and that's why I figured if they did anything it would be a a few relievers. I mean, I tried to will more into existence, knowing how little Martin Perez ,Ian Happ and Joey Wendle were making this year which was why they were the main guys I kept talking about. Unlike football Pace moves spends a lot of money and some draft picks. Hahn maybe could've spend $10-$15M and traded minor leaguers for them and among those minor leaguers how many are actually going to make a difference for the Sox in the next 2 years ? Cola's maybe,Davis Martin ? Sosa ? Carlos Perez ? They'll all have rookie and early years problems . Gio, Cease,Kopech, Crochet, Robert, Eloy , Moncada all went through that and most of them still can't be counted on year to year . We were expecting superstars and got injuries and inconsistency and bad management at all levels instead.
  11. Is the trade deadline over yet ? Can i come out now ?
  12. There we go just like I predicted and expected to happen and why I wanted the Sox to make moves. Anyone who wanted the Sox just to give up because they can't win the World Series you should be happy now. But I did say that wouldn't stop the Twins from making moves and they haven't. They owe it to their fans to try. Plus as management they have made enough right moves getting rid of Donaldson getting Urshela and starting pitching because that's what you do . You try to get better. Always. Sox management has done nothing but make backwards moves and now it's such a mess maybe they are just gun shy or more like just don't want to put good money after bad. Jerry it's up to you. Admit your mistakes. Fire TLR . I know you won't give a new GM much freedom but you gave Hahn a decent amount and him and everyone around him helping him didn't do the job. Fire all of them next. Then step down as chairman and sell the team.
  13. How does one relate to the other ? The Sox aren't rebuilding. The Sox are stupid and will continue to be stupid. Our rebuild is on it's last legs . Orioles aren't tricking themselves into thinking they are ready to win now and mortgage the future. They are stockpiling now. The Sox don't stockpile and we're supposed to be in a multiple championship window of sustained success. I know that's been BS from the beginning therefore I'm still holding out hope for some buying and playoff miracles. Selling isn't going to solve anything just will be more of the same ineptitude and BS coming from Hahn's mouth.
  14. The Orioles selling Mancini and Lopez gives me hope Santander is available. They have a shit ton of OF talent in the minors. I think trading Mancini is a part of them maybe just moving up the OF's in the minors incrementally , testing them, seeing who continues to play well before they trade a power bat like Santander but he should go too.
  15. Theoretically ,he was available to the Sox too and as usual the Sox went for a 34 yr. old. They can't give up any 4 assets for him. They gave up as little as possible for Diekman. To be effective as a GM you have to ID a player in an organization like the Orioles and ask yourself what are the goals of the Orioles GM. He's building, so young pitching is always a need, so any oldish breakout relief pitcher with some control is going to be sold. MN identified that and got a good player for this year but who really knows beyond this year. Maybe he turns back into a pumpkin. But that is part of a reason you have scouting and also look into why he is better this year. But in the end he's still just a relief pitcher with a high variance in performance without any sustained success.
  16. Easy. 29 yr old relief pitcher and no prior history of success. Sell high get all you can before he implodes. Sure he could have discovered the secret to success but Orioles aren't winning this year. They are rebuilding and doing it smartly. Trade older breakout guys in a position that has a wide variance in results like relief pitchers.
  17. I'm glad you asked this question. I want to say yes with all my heart. I'm in trade winds every day telling the Sox what to do to make things better. Of course I'm not the one trying to get good players for what little we have to offer. I see a lot of posters here saying don't trade our wonderful farm pieces ,retool, reform, sell Abreu, sell Hendriks sell Graveman, sell Kelly. Create some payroll space and figure it out next year. So I assume all that selling of expensive assets and keeping minor leaguers has a final goal of salvaging the rebuild. Of course the Sox might not be in this position had they learned how to scout, draft and develop and draft internationally like the rest of baseball does it. It would've been nice to do all that before the rebuild, which theoretically is what a rebuild should be, You can't rebuild with the same a*holes in charge and same organizational philosophies that screw up the team in the 1st place. So basically a rebuild might not have ever worked with JR in charge because he saves money not going after 16 yr old Dominicans, trading off Intl.money. He won't pay for top personnel from other organizations and then he sticks his meddling nose in and hires TLR. So getting back to the original point I was making about people here wanting to retool . Why ???? What's the point ?? The same losers are in charge. Now you might turn around and ask me if the same losers are in charge, why do you want to trust them to win this year when the team clearly has no chance to win a World Series this year? It's because I think it's over next year and beyond and this year is the last shot at it. Basically I think the Sox chance at a World Series win is 200-1 no matter what year it is. Might as well take your best shot every year with the same Bozos in charge every year. Sure they won't do everything I want them to this year. And they won't do what all of you want them to do next year. They will just keep on doing what they have done under Reindsorf since he bought the team. They will do things his way and his employees will work for him knowing for the most part they do so under his guise with monetary restraints that are not conducive to winning but to making money for himself and his investors. Nothing wrong with that right. It's the American Way right ? Make money while pretending your product is something it isn't and never will be. We are just the consumers buying what they are selling because we have traditions of buying them for generations. Relax treat them like any other product you are unhappy with with. Ignore them , don't invest emotionally in them . It's just sports , that's how they suck you in , It's regional, a home town product, have some pride in your location, be a part of something and join the community of fans and be a part of something bigger because deep down we all need to be a part of something communal that's bigger than ourselves. and we feel better in a big community so we don't think we're in some weirdo cult. But that's really what we are a weirdo cult of sports buying consumers controlled by the rich. Maybe I shouldn't have watched "They Live" again recently !! ; )
  18. I think you should make a shrine with candles around Jobu style
  19. Without Robert the Sox only have 4 guys who have positive offensive fWar to play in games: Abreu, Anderson, Vaughn and Zavala.
