  1. The league would probably make another anti tanking anti White Sox move and prohibit it and take away the Sox 1st round draft pick next year for not negotiating in good faith.
  2. Certainly wouldn't have guessed it was a drunk post. It looked well constructed .
  3. I wonder if he did accept a conservative offer if the Sox would still trade him and if they decided to keep him would they alter whatever plan they have for how much to pitch him the rest of the season .
  4. Another 2 years 2025 and 2026. FA in 2027. Or whatever team he's traded to can give him a better offer on an extension. I'm still not convinced he'll he gone by the deadline, high price plus availability concerns after the deadline. If he gets 2 starts after the AllStar break it all be interesting to see how many pitches he throws.
  5. We all had very different ideas about how he would be handled that for sure when it was 1st announced he would be a SP. I've reread that thread a few times. I was conservative like everyone else. I understand the line of thought that the Sox have done him a disservice but on the other hand they'd allowed him to stay in the majors rather than in the minors and reduced the time it would take to become a FA. I'm one of a few who thinks if the Sox offered him a conservative extension that bought out a year or of his FA years he would be wise to take it given his history but others say it would take $100M to get him to bite now . But others think I'm crazy because they think in 2027 ( 2 short years) he'll get a big payday while I think 2 years+ is a long time and a lot can go wrong .
  6. I agree as I've said many times it's unprecedented what's going on and there is a good possibility it could backfire which is why I don't understand why other posts say that Crochet could be in line for a $200-300M contract. A whole hell of a lot would have to go right for a guy with no track record of starting pitching and poor health to overcome those thingsto be in line with that kind of contract which I said a few posts back.
  7. Are you like a child that doesn't understand that Crochet has a big say in what happens to him ? If Crochet thought the Sox weren't doing what best for him he could say I'd rather do it this way just like Kopech . But since things are working out for Crochet sofar then we have to assume he and the Sox are in sync on his pitch count per game . Why does that make me the old man ? You're the one always yelling at the clouds about how everything sucks . Screw Getz screw Grifol the players are bums as if you didn't know that in the 1st year of a rebuild and with huge budget slashes that things would be ugly. My approach is level headed, yours is very emotional . You wanted people to stick it to @JUSTgottaBELIEVE because Crochet went 2 innings and you thought it was the start of a permanent workload decrease right around the 100 innings mark until others corrected you that it was workload management for the All Star break and you said yes you guys are probably right.
  8. Crochet doesn't want to pitch in relief. He feels being a starter puts him on a routine that best helps his arm. If it was relief pitcher every 5 days then maybe but then why not just be an opener for an inning or 2 through August and Sept. Or lower his pitch count to 40 pitches or 2 inning whichever come 1st for 6 starts then back up to 60 75 ,90 in the last 3 starts of the season. How that would alter his between starts routine I don't know. Maybe Crochet tells the new team through Getz what he prefers before a trade can be completed. How all of that affects his arm or gets him to pitch higher innings in the playoff I have no idea. Its all unprecedented.
  9. It's possible . What they do in the draft may effect how they approach trades. Pitching in the draft has 2 really good arms and the Sox seem to be prioritizing middle infielder and OF and probably looking CF more than corners. Best player available in this draft may come down to best player available you can get a discount on. If they are getting offers on Robert and Crochet that look promising this early the offers may include high profile catchers or 1st base types such as Basallo or Rushing and pitchers which teams seem more willing to part with. The Phillies and Mariners have young prospects that may appeal to them. I'd be surprised to see Caglione drafted just based the availability of that type of player available in trades. But will those trades happen at the deadline ? If they plan on drafting Cags they better be damn sure he'll be a good outfielder. I'm not as worried about his out of zone swings because of his contact rate. He's tall with long arms so he can reach outside pitches more easily and has made it work for him. I would have to have a breakdown of what pitches outside the zone he's been swinging at. He's certainly an anomaly with such a low K rate with such a high outside of zone swing rate.
  10. I can say with 75% conviction that Crochet will never get a $200M+ contract. Too many things have to go exactly right for a pitcher who has no track record of pitching one full season yet and no track record of health. Why anyone would hyperbolize to that degree is insanity with so much working against him . Remove the fanaticism and give it odds like Vegas does. Vegas might give you 2-1 odds against him ever getting a contract like that. As much as I think he's much bigger and stronger than he's ever been , he's got to be great and healthy for the rest of this year and 2 more years in 2025 and 2026.
  11. I'm naive? I choose to make up my own mind while gathering as much info as I can. Naive is believing one source of information. Contender's needs starting pitcher who can actually start games in the 2nd half and perhaps another 6 starts in the playoffs. That won't be Crochet . He also has a high asking price. I've always thought him and Robert both have a 50/50 chance of being traded. With that in mind , it's a coin flip and can come up heads twice ,tails twice or once of each. Both traded, neither traded or one of them traded. If Nightingale is right it's not like it was some big revelation once he started pitching really well and if he's wrong I already gave you the reasons why .
  12. So basically you're saying the Sox are damned if they do and damned if they don't so they can't do anything with Crochet that isn't met with scorn by the fanbase. So you have carte blanche to rip them to shreds either way. Pitch him and they are abusing poor stupid Garrett Crochet who surely is just a mindless boob doing everything the Sox want with no regard to his health. Or they rest him at the perfect time to rest him and suddenly it's the Sox wanting to showcase him for the big upcoming trade with no regard to poor stupid Garrett Crochet. You know Crochet has been fine with what's happened this year don't you ? He was involved with how they constructed a plan and it was because of that plan by Crochet, Bannister,Katz and Getz that he has the opportunity to be an All Star and possibly become a very wealthy young man if he can manage to stay healthy enough and pitch well enough for over 2 more years.
  13. Has it ever once crossed your mind it might be important to Crochet also ? He could certainly turn it down like some players do who might have minor injuries or don't want to pitch if it messes with their routine. The All-Star break is a logical place to give him rest in a plan to curtail his innings in the 2nd half and still let him pitch in the All-Star game if he would like to. I think the Sox are handling him as if he will still pitch with them.
  14. Struggled with where to put this since there's not much to celebrate and this thread is more about the bad kind of record chasing. So we had the Kopech immaculate inning . He was the 1st Sox pitcher in 100 years. Some franchises don't have an immaculate inning. It's very rare but it is just one inning so doesn't really mean much . Lost in that accomplishment by a Sox pitcher was what Drew Thorpe accomplished that never happened in Sox history. He was the 1st Sox pitcher ever to have 4 straight starts of 6 or more inning giving up 3 or less hits and 2 runs or less. Great job Drew Thorpe !
  15. Pressure is relative. How about his whole career being on the line if he flopped this year ?
  16. If the ranking was based on most likely to be traded and most talented combined Fedde may be close to #1. Crochet and Robert aren't the locks to be traded that Fedde is. Plus starting pitching with a lot of good stats with innings under their belt make Fedde very desirable. I doubt his lack of a successful career means much . He's proven himself and the amount of WAR he's accumulated without being a high K guy with the Sox defense behind him is impressive.
  17. We're not supposed to think he's always right anyway. He's just a gossip columnist repeating things he hears from people who may have an agenda or be out of the loop.
  18. I disagree with you a lot and you accused me of stalking you.Talk about not getting over it. I could say I'm living rent free in you're head. Isn't that one of your little catch phrases along with getting your feeling hurt ? You typically like to jump on a guy who's already got 2 people pounding on him. You're supposed be a moderator not an instigator or intimidator because you're feeling mighty in a wolfpack attack. Lots of people here know this about you. You're not the defender of the downtrodden like you make youself out to be when social issues invade the sports world. You're more like let me get a kick in too as long as hes getting kicked already. Face it you're a bully and abuse whatever authority is given to you as a mod.
  19. There's difference between being a Getz supporter and saying let's give the guy a fair shake and remember who he's working for. There are plenty of good things happening . Lots of success in the minors for the 1st time in while. 2 stud starting pitcher's for tradebait out of nowhere. Thorpe and Cannon doing well. Bannister seems like good hire. I don't think that's mediocre stuff. For a guy who had no money or talent to work with on the ML level. Fedde and Crochet are 2 huge wins.More offensive talent should be coming. A lot depends on moving Robert and Crochet which I'm skeptical will happen by the TDL.
  20. Recently was hearing something about Bannister coming to see him and taught him a pitch.i think it was a curve and Eder was raving about him. So he may have a fairly new pitch in his arsenal if he's using it already.
  21. Crochet can't command $20M RIGHT NOW so how can I be out of touch with reality? It's impossible. You seem to be the one out of touch with reality because the reality is he's making 800K RIGHT NOW. You're talking hypothetically not reality. You have him hypothetically healthy for the end half of this year and 2 more years after that . We have no idea if he gets traded or if any team will meet the asking price for a pitcher likely nearing the end of the line for this seasons workload. Your talking best case scenario. Worst case scenario is he gets hurt and gets non tendered like Rodon. Guys like Lynn and Giolito had track records of success and seasons of many innings in healthy years. Crochet has none of those things. But apparently they are equal in your reality.
  22. You don't actually know if those 3 are going to be in the same lineup ever again at this point.
  23. Last third could be lots of different arms. Might get to see some new guys from trades like the kid they got for Grossman or some other AA & AAA arms like Toussaint , Ky Bush, Mason Adams may get a start or 2 or put in the pen.
  24. Thought of Gonzalez but I went with the more recent Conforto example.
  25. I think it was the Pedro quote about pushing him that triggered those who look for stupid comments from him. It's pretty easy to find. He just should have said he'll start playing in AZ soon and we'll see how it goes. We're not looking at any particular date he'll be back in the lineup. But we are looking forward to having Yoan healthy again within a months time.
