  1. 2 seasons is a lifetime and some of are treating it like nothing. He's a long way off from $30M a year. It was just 6 months ago that most thought he had a high chance of being injured and thought if he was going to start in would be in the minors. Yes he has upped his value tremendously but he's not even at the point where he can pitch a full season yet. You're putting the cart way before the horse here. Plenty of talented player's bet on themselves eyeing a big payday and then hit regression and injury . Recently Conforto went through it. Didn't he turn down a big extension ? He hasn't come close to what he was offered that he turned down. For years Rodon couldn't fulfill his promise. Then boom one good seasons the the Sox where he wore down at the end. The Sox didn't even give him a QO . He had to prove it all over the next year with the Giants 2 years $44M .He managed to stay healthy again , opted out and got his big contract and got hurt again. Rodon had to be non tendered because of his injuries and was a free agent 3 times in 3 years. He was very fortunate his best 2 years were his $3M 2021 with the Sox and his next year with the Giants. Crochet still has his Arb 2 and Arb 3 years to go before he reaches Free Agency. I'd be willing to bet anyone he doesn't make $30M in 2027. He be really lucky to stay healthy enough to get a shot to make $20M in 2027. I don't know if the Sox made him a real extension offer but if they did it was on the conservative side and rightly so. Just because he's been miraculous this season doesn't mean he can pull off the same miracle 3 years in a row. He has the talent but will his arm hold up ? It's hard to navigate uncharted waters.
  2. Oh did I get under your skin ? My goodness .You seems upset .I honestly thought the majority of you supported the FO and didn't care about being champions. Of course fans don't make trades. Don't be silly everyone knows that . I have no idea what made you think I thought fans made trades. You just seemed like you were over protective over your top 5 prospects and anyone rated in the top 100 . Didn't mean to ruffle your Oriole feathers.
  3. I'm guessing Greg was playing little league in the 70s maybe 80s.
  4. Fedde is perfect for the O's . But these O's fan don't seem real concerned about winning a World Series only about not giving up future stars. After losing for so long it's nice to have one of the best teams and watch all the young talent bloom. They could be really good for the next 5 years. But if the goal is to be World champs they have to figure out how to accomplish that. Getting Burnes helped but only 1 year . If they don't advance very far again thats 2 years in row frittering away really good opportunities to be Champions. They don't come along often. Sometimes just keeping the money rolling in with good team's every year is more important than a Championship. If Baltimore fans agree with that philosophy and support their FO conservatism over Championships makes no sense to argue with them.
  5. Reading way too much into it. Again projecting your feelings as if that's how the player thinks or feels. It may have been mutually agreed on between player and management.
  6. If no one thinks there's any fun to be had in the future then why bemoan the present so much ? Just follow the Dodgers and you can be rid of the anger you feel. Enjoyable seasons have happened in spite of JR even if it takes a Herculean amount of luck to ever happen.
  7. Or why let him destroy his trade value with the Sox if he can get right in the minors for a week or so ? What's the fuss all about ? He doesn't have to be traded now. The fact remains that if he does get traded this deadline , the off-season or in the next couple years it's still a delayed return on the Cease trade. It's not a bad thing to try to maximize that return down the line.
  8. I think he'll be back up before then but it is something to know and consider. Even moreso if he's got any pain in his arm .Is he's injured while in the minors and DL 'd for a stretch he won't acrrus service time. Crochet accrued service time recovering from TJS because he was in the majors, yet people think Crochet must hate the Sox for mishandling him. If he was in the minors learning how to be a SP he likely still ends up having TJS but wouldn't have accrued service time . He's a lot closer to FA now because of the Sox . I don't see any permanent damage done to him. People need to quit projecting their feelings onto thinking it's how the players feel. There are others ways to look at things.
  9. Good point. May be just a rest move .Mini vacation to work on some things.
  10. And shortly after the Yanks LH rookie 1st baseman Ben Rice hits 3 HRs in a game ?
  11. Sox are likes magnet for players who are always injured, can't sustain their best years into just good+ years or guys who fall off quickly and never find it again. The whole history of the franchise is like that. They need rabbits foots, horseshoes, 4 leaf clovers, crystals ,burning incense to rid themselves of the bad juju that's plagued this team. At this point I'd be bringing in anyone who claims they have a blessing and set them free to do their thing in the ballpark, ST complex ,the Front Office ,where ever that black cloud is hiding?
  12. I don't know what JRs plan is for the franchise and what's he scheming for the 78 property and how one effects the other.
  13. Of course they do but Getz is not the problem. And repeating it over and over won't fix it. There are things to see that things are progressing. Way better than expected seasons from Fedde and Crochet should make things better . But JR has different plans. Just not sure what he's doing besides what he always does which is controlling the purse strings in all aspects of the franchise.
  14. The team was built to lose and convert players into prospects. Theyll trade their relief pitching all day every day during a rebuild. Can u just repeat over and over the Sox and Getz suck every day . I think we understand how you feel by now. Btw the BP is 8th worst in MLB by ERA so it's not really a huge reason why the team is worst in baseball.Might have something to do with ooh I dunno the owner .
  15. Apparently getting position players who can hit and field is a problem
  16. Sox got all 6 of their hits in the 1st 3 innings. Nothing since.
  17. I've been saying that but perhaps he just likes the cutter more. He can have an off day. He human but now it creeps in your head if he's reaching his limit very soon
  18. Robert looking to extend hitting streak to 9 games .I'm predicting Robert HR . My pick to click I miss @elrockinMT
  19. I just smh when it comes to Maldonado. Especially that story about him needing glasses. I'm actually shocked when I see something like that. Your vision is perhaps a highly overlooked but essential component to catching and especially hitting a baseball and playing in the hot sun with glare and heat drying out you eyes. You'd think no matter what you age is you'd have your eyes checked at least once a year. Hell in ST I'd have an eye exam day if I was an owner . I wonder how many teams actually have an Optometrist on their medical staff . Bring 5 skilled eye specialists in over a week and check everyone out and make it mandatory. I'd have gallons of good eye wash products available and recommend using it every day. I'd still like to think Maldonado played some role in the mostly pretty good results from some guys but it's more likely Bannister and the pitching lab. Not sure if Maldy is part of that. You'd think a veteran catcher would have a voice in that. In the end probably wasn't worth his contract but neither can I ignore how Dusty Baker raved about him but all metrics offensively and we're not good. Maybe $2M would've got him or even a MiLB contract. Not really anything to get upset about. All teams take flyers on guys a lot more expensive.
  20. I have to ask because you never answer it because it's easy to say he wasted money on crap when you're not the one working for JR and still have to spend something to fill positions while likely ordered to spend minimal amounts while payroll was being slashed to ribbons. Players aren't free. So the questions are what was he supposed to do and why do you keep hammering that point about wasteful spending ? Earlier in another post you said recently something about signing cheap guys who had a better chance of being flipped but those guys likely cost $10M or more per year and they're only slightly more likely to return any value. It's basically luck when youre signing guys to minor league or under $5M contracts or $10M If you're signing $10M guys you get less players You could spend $3-4 for 3 players and any of them could get you just as much at the deadline as your $10M signing. Spent $15M on Fedde for 2 years .When he traded the other team likely pays around$10M of that and he should bring back at least one very solid prospect and perhaps 2. That signing will return great value .If Flexen Soroka, Pham, DeJong,Lopez, Brebbia,Wilson get traded you're getting dividends on the Cease and Bummer trades plus teams eat money on the contracts and give us prospects back on any dumpster dives that end up traded. Thats more than we can say about Benintendi ,Moncada and Eloy who were much higher costing signings that the Sox will likely get nothing for.
  21. I am ,always have been. But there are plenty here who are not. Time will tell so it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. Trades always fluctuate in value after the fact. 5 more years we'll see how it looks.
  22. Kind of surprising no one thinks Sheets or Vaughn will be moved. I think one of them goes but no idea which one. Yankees are kind of thin at 1st base. Lopez has been kind of hot lately. Rare to see him getting doubles . Saw 2 or 3 get over LF head down the line and another into the RF corner. I probably picked 10 or 11 to be traded but not Robert or Crochet. I think 1 or 2 from the minors could be moved too.
  23. I just saw Romy Gonzalez playing 1st base for the red Sox.
