That was a fun time not evil. It was our "Cease is worth a fortune" guys against the Orioles " no, he's not worth a fortune, but he is worth a decent return" guys. And they basically showed us we were delusional . If the measure of if the O's fan were right is winning a championship or just 4 ,5, 6 years of playoffs baseball due to keeping their most highly regarded prospects, they still have a way to go. It would be fun eventually to look back 5 years from now at the thread and see how all the O's prospects that were discussed have panned out. That was a great time in Soxtalk history.

I guess we'll find out soon enough if having Clevinger be a good boy for 1.5 years leads to a minor leaguer. If not, it's certainly a good way to get a cheap decent starting pitcher every year. If the Sox are the only team to offer him a contract they can keep low balling him.Otherwise good luck in whatever foreign league will pay him more.

I wish Eloy had Ramos simple stance

No we usually discuss trading the reclamation projects the Sox hope will play well enough to be traded or guys like Eloy and Moncada who are likely to be dumped after the season because they are too injury prone and make too much money. Guys like Lee we just got last year at the trade deadline. We're hoping to get more like him at the coming deadline.

The whole season is a series of blips. A couple of guys are hot pitching and hitting and the Sox have eeked out some Ws. Getz has subtracted,added, subtracted added all off season and during the season and that will continue when we have injuries, get the injured players back, trade and then promote others. Then dump more salary in the off season and we'll get to see if Getz is allowed to spend more. Unfortunately spending in a low mid to mid tier is when the old regime wasted the most money and frankly the owner has already proclaimed that the Sox cannot compete at their current location. Getz will have to be miracle worker to get this franchise back to .500 let alone competing for a playoff spot in the next few years.

I'm not claiming anything, just pointing out people are generally impatient and judge things way too soon and create reasons to be upset. Plenty of real reasons to be upset without crying about Matthew Thompson . Also if a Getz sunshine blower is a guy who realizes he's dealing with an owner who's basically forced him to operate on the fringes I'll accept that. I see that as reality and the big picture.
