  1. No one move can change the Sox situation so that's kind of CPT.Obvious stuff. The Sox have to makes dozens or scores of correct moves which seems impossible while JR prepares for his heirs to sell the Sox . He was incapable of making these moves even in his heyday. Never cared about infrastructure to support and develop youth. He reduces upper managements chances to succeed by trying to build a contender from a series of moves that must need to have a 80 % success rate from working in the margins like Williams managed to do prior to the 2005 season. You need like 10 or more of your 26 man roster to have career or near career years. Kenny Williams probably deserves a lot more credit than we give him for somehow doing the impossible under JR.
  2. GMs who make the right hires build a stronger organization if they are allowed to beef up weak areas of scouting and development with quality hires.
  3. The team gave Grady a 1st MLB win shower of all kinds of stuff after the game.
  4. He had a very whippy swing. Bat speed maybe ? Haven't seen any stats on it.
  5. Your hot takes lack any perspective.Sending a guy down is not giving up when you're playing other guys in the OF ,one of whom you needed to trade.Plenty of time to get Fletcher a good look.
  6. As if u ever wait to declare early defeat.
  7. They'd have to be really really bad to blow this one now.
  8. Time will tell. The Debate still raging on about Burger for Eder.
  9. I feel like soon I'll be saying it was nice while it lasted.
  10. Throwing a baseball at this level and getting a good teams hitters out is not just luck. He's making pitches that get the best hitters in the world out. He's kept the Sox in this game. Not sure he's going to be out there next inning though.
  11. Thorpe seemed ready. He did come in a set a White Sox record and pitch 4 straight games going 6 innings and giving up 3 hits or less. Then gets bombed 2 outings in a row and it's 2nd time facing same guys and he's useless forever. Turns out he's hurt or arm weary which could account for the beatings. We got lots of time to figure it out. It's not always worst case scenario just because he doesn't throw hard.
  12. He's hanging in there nicely but Yanks close to big innings constanting.Somehow has given up just one.
  13. You can't assume the same result when the situation would've been different. They could've intentionally walked him to set up a DP or pitched him differently hoping he'd get himself out.
  14. Yup last AB need to at least tie it up. I get that Lopez had 3 hits already and was facing a RHP but counting on another hit from him was pushing it. Get both runners in scoring position and u got a guy very capable of hitting extra base hits or hitting a deep fly to get a run across. I don't care how bad he's slumping. He's still their best power hitter , If they walk him then based loaded 1 out and maybe a pitching change is forced or you face Beni, the hottest hitter, with the RHP.
  15. Wondering why if that was supposed to be a sac bunt by Baldwin why wouldn't you sac bunt with Lopez ? I d take 2nd and 3rd with 1 out with Robert and Beni coming up.
  16. With that mustache I feel like Fletcher name should be pronounced the French way "Fletchay".
  17. Theoretically can work in either any direction. Theoretically he should be tired already . Theoretically he may be doing more harm than good by continuing to pitch as a starter with a 75 pitch limit or by pitching at all. No one really knows. But some people will be right because we are pretty much offering every type of opinion.
  18. A bunch of bums and often injured players playing like bums and piling up injuries and trading any player they could trade at last year's deadline and the off season and slashing payroll and getting 20 games worse doesn't seem really really hard to me. Was a historically bad team predictable ? Probably not but predicting a 100 win team to win 120 isn't all that predictable either. What was predictable was the Sox were going to be just as bad if not worse after everything I described above. Has Getz contributed to further erosion of future Sox teams ? Absolutely. But maybe not to degree that has so many people up in arms . I will agree that Getz has not shown the ability to maximize major trades. But even then position player prospects hoarding has become widespread and opposing GMs are aware that Getz is under the gun by JR to dump salary. They treat the Sox like they should be grateful they are making any offers.
