  1. Yes it makes a lot of sense. If Mouse and Pillar both made the opening day 26 man roster that's $2M guaranteed for Mouse and $3M for Pillar. There was also another $2M Moustakas could've made in performance incentives. Getz and company can talk about culture and defense till they turn blue but the real color of the team is green, the color of money. At least Getz didn't guarantee the money when he signed them. Not sure this is a Getz or Grifol decision. This has JR stench all over it. Defense taking a back seat to the money but they still have Phillips for that and he's a good soldier and knows his role. It'll be Grossman against LHP very soon if not exactly by opening day. Go you Green Sox !
  2. I applaud your optimism on the 1% chance those things come true. While I gave it a solid B , it does worry me when Getz said that the Padres were considering him to be in their rotation. Preller's a used car salesman and Getz is acting like he believed him.
  3. I was going to pick under 61 for the very reason you have. However I picked the one just above which seems to be where the majority is voting, just because I choose to hope that Getz Salvage Yard turns a profit. We buy and sell your junk .
  4. Pedro said the last 5 games of ST is everyone full speed.
  5. They are people on our favorite baseball and we want them to be healthy and not be overworked so they can maximize their chances for successful productivity so they can be traded off this team.
  6. Lots of Train song to choose from on YouTube . But I saw this one that was a minor hit for Albert Hammond in 1974 and it's been forever since I heard it.
  7. ? Yes I did! As soon as I hit submit I was like "s%*#"!! He may be ruined but sure would be nice to see him overcome all his injuries and succeed. It just feels like a longshot.
  8. As far as getting the extra time back it wouldn't be an issue. It very rarely is and the Sox have valid reasons to keep him in the minors given his injury and starting pitching lack of innings history. I don't think you having a different opinion from me is a big deal. I just want him healthy and want him to succeed as a starting pitcher . If he can actually stay healthy and attain his goal I want his success to be with the Sox and not another team. Of course that's the selfish fan viewpoint. A future with healthy Crochet starting pitcher is better than the future without him. I know he rather be with the Sox than in the minors , stay healthy , pitch well and get to free agency as fast as possible and cash in . I wish him well but I'm not optimistic that your way or my way will ever work if I go by his past injuries. We'll just have to wait and see.
  9. It's not like he ever was paid well. As far as Sox 1st round draft pics go he was in the top 1/3 as far as making it up to the bigs and having some success. I just never understood why they pitched him so many innings when they could have kept him stronger by making his starts shorter. He was a horse the 1st half but there was no way it was going to last into the playoffs. He gave it his all though. Watching him pitch was the highlight of the year.
  10. The Sox will be lucky to get 80 out of him. He's basically building from ground zero. Rodon came back in 2021 had hardly pitched in the previous 2 years and he wore out and he had a lot more innings under his belt than Crochet. I kept saying he'd wear down at the end of the season but no one cared. The Sox abused the f*** out of his arm in the 1st half. Everyone was all swept up in the pennant chase . Then blam ! .500 record in the 2nd half was the beginning of the end of the rebuild.
  11. I can't figure it out How many guys can they carry working on 5 days rest without screwing the whole bullpen up ? Now I feel like Shaw and his rubber arm makes the team.
  12. Thinking it's not going to be that close to 200 innings between them.
  13. I'm excited for the season . Don't agree with Crochet not being in Charlotte but I know he'd rather be making MLB money just in case his arm explodes again. Every 800K season helps . I hope he invests wisely. If he gets hurt again maybe his arm just wasn't build for pitching. No arm really is when an underhand motion is a way more natural way to throw. How Nolan Ryan did what he did for so long was a freak of nature.
  14. I'd be shocked if he ever has 150 innings in a season but also thrilled for him on whatever team he's on since they don't plan on gaining service time back.
  15. Are they most likely meaningless ? Yes Is it possible he made some changes to become better. Also yes . It would be nice to someone, anyone show some growth. Sheets, Colas, Sosa, Fletcher, Moncada, Eloy... anybody !! ?
  16. Poor kid he's barely had time to get settled into being in a new place with new people and now getting shelled. He better be done for the day.
  17. Did you say that earlier or is it just apparent now while he's getting bombed ?
  18. Yeah I'm not sure I've heard anyone say let him be on the opening day roster.
  19. It may well be but we won't ever know . Some baseball people like take charge, knowledgeable catchers . Did the Sox pay too much and might've got him for less later or on a minor league deal ?Maybe or probably but it's water under the bridge and $4M . Maybe he'll help a pitcher be worth more over the course of his career. That might be the part people don't understand even if it seems highly unlikely. On the surface you'll look at stats and say he was worthless and feel vindicated .
  20. They got Maldonado for a reason even if it's a reason some people don't understand. They'll let it play out with some veterans but may not with others. Stassi and Moustakas may not make the cut but usually with veterans now would be the time to cut them loose if you want to give them a chance to latch onto other teams.
  21. I disagree. You should preserve service times of all young players as long as you can when you suck with a bunch of sucky vets u plan to trade. Work the older youngest in 1st as you continue to mix in more flip candidates next off season . It has to be a continuous process like the Rays do of flipping and always having a talented stream of youngsters and players worthy of being promoted. Then when they are promoted they are more ready theoretically.
  22. I think Getz might not want to start the clock on some guys just yet. I think that was the point of bringing in cheap guys with good defensive reps or ability to guide pitchers. After trades at the All Star break we'll likely see some of the youngsters but they created 2 holes in the rotation and Nastrini could be the favorite to fill one of the holes. Some of the young pitchers could use veteran catchers help and someone like Soroka could use Lee.
  23. A's in the process of beating up Chavez .Tie game 2 outs man on 3rd.
