  1. Probably about 1/3 of the ABs as DeJong too. He's been out there a lot.
  2. I liked your post even though I'm one of the biggest proponents of JR sucks. That's mainly because you have to remind everyone just how many areas of running the Sox he actually affects. So while I wail about JR, I love talking actual baseball and consider myself on the optimistic side when opining about players. I gave the trade a B. Worth is so subjective but in my eyes Cease could be great again ( high worth) but his 2023 numbers in a vacuum hurt his value. Durability is not rated as highly as it should be. Texas paid for Degrom, a truly gifted pitcher who can't stay on the field ,yet Getz struggled to get high end prospects for Cease who has durability and awesome stuff and no one would be surprised to see him pitch closer to his 2022 numbers than 2023. I also think market conditions took a turn for the worse when trading for high end prospects. Not sure why, RSN problems perhaps affected the FA market more and FA contracts affected the value of high end prospects and prospects in general. Cease also was pretty worthless to the Sox in what surely would be a very bad team for his remaining 2 years. 3 prospects and an MLB reliever with 4 years of control is how many total years of control. 6,6,6,4 ? 22 years plus the years in the minors while they develop. But this is the part where we circle back to JR. If the player development staff for all Sox players, not just those in the minors, was as advanced and as helpful to prospects as the Dodgers system I'd feel even better about the trade. One last thing. Talking baseball requires analysis, experience, patience , knowledge and clear communicating. Message boards are more like X now, short outbursts, cruelty and brief comments. People no longer have the time nor inclination to make long posts " discussing" much of anything.
  3. Now that you would've been Ok with it I feel better. (sarcasm) but a lot more of us here wouldn't be good with a zero return. 3 top 10 prospects from a No 5 or so farm system who slot into our own top 10 into what was a 15-20 ranked farm system. I'm good with it. It's not Getz' job to take huge risks and come up empty handed when there is a huge need for talent and depth. It's his job to build a team. Thank JR for what he's done this offseason. JR is probably thrilled so far.
  4. Guess so now. The link to the game is no longer on the Sox MLB TV page. I switched my favorite team to the Cubs and the link is still there and there's other content on because of the delay then the announcers came on still talking about it as if it's happening. But the previous post showed the scoreboard showing it's cancelled. They're still talking about it as if it hasn't been cancelled yet but maybe it's a delayed broadcast.
  5. Prospect game starting soonish. MLB app on your TV with White Sox as your favorite team page in the Sox highlights section I believe.
  6. Berroa was sidelined Tuesday due to an injury in his arm/shoulder, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Details regarding the nature of Berroa's injury or a potential return timeline are currently unknown. Berroa found consistent success at the Double-A level last year with a 2.76 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 101 strikeouts across 65.1 frames, and he held his own on the mound during his two MLB appearances with the Mariners. The 23-year-old reliever was in the hunt to make Chicago's Opening Day bullpen, but his injured shoulder could put his chances in jeopardy.
  7. Always seemed willing to talk to the media even when it's not mandated.I liked his interviews with Garfien this spring. Really good pitcher hurt by 2023. Hope he comes back with a vengeance and SD gets more than they gave up for him even if that seems unlikely.
  8. I like the way his catcher frames his pitches too. He pitches down in the zone a lot. The Catcher gives him the target about knee high then as Thorpe is about to deliver the pitch he lowers his glove to nearly the ground and catches his low pitches bringing his glove up into the zone.
  9. No watching was watching it on TV the sneaky way
  10. It was about as routine as they come, grounder right near the base . Probably took his eyes off the ball to see how far he had to go to step on the base or the ball could have hit the lip of the grass and in that case I don't blame the fielder that much. If it hits the lip it can take a higher bounce a lower one or go sideways in either direction or any combination of high low sideways.
  11. Top 9 Dominic Leone pitching RHP Caleb Hamilton walks Cole Fontenelle LHB GB up the middle should be DP Shewmake error. 1st and 2nd now 0 outs Adell single bases loaded Tucker Flint FO to the wall in CF . Sac Fly RBI other runners did not advance. PH LHB Ruiz swinging K maybe on a CU low and away. Jack Lopez makes an out Sox win 5-1
  12. Riley Baldwin hustle double on inside out swing down the RF line slowed down by 1st baseman glove. Chuckie Robinson singles to LF .Baldwin to 3rd. Remillard K looking inside corner , 2 outs Mendick lines out RCF
  13. Top 8 Chavez pitching. 1-2-3 inning 2 Ks
  14. Nope I haven't seen him pitch much this spring.
  15. Fletcher soft single to CF on 3-2 pitch of LHP Suarez for 2 out RBI 5-0 Sox
  16. Top 7 1st batter K Moniak single to RF Marisnick single to LF , Moniak to 2nd Calhoun 3-2 count Flys out to Philips in LF. Adrianza GO to Mendick at 2nd Crochet hit 99 a few times. Crochet done.
  17. Moose walk PR Baldwin running as Chuckie Robinson hits behind him perfectly send runner to 3rd. Remillard bunt down 1st base line tagged out by pitcher who then made a wild throw home . Credit as sac bunt RBI , error sends Robinson to 3rd. Robinson thrown out at home when ball got away from catcher on the next pitch. Looked like should've been safe but looked slow. 4-0 Sox
  18. Top 6 Crochet busts one in on the hands for the punch out on 3-2 pitch of Schanuel Rengifo GO to 2nd Caleb Hamilton GO to Shewmake at 3rd. Crochet hit 99 a few times
  19. 10D lead off 7 pitch walk Moncada batting RH, Force out Shewmake PR for Moncada steals 2nd. Robert FO shallow CF Vaughn made an out.
  20. K of Willie Calhoun Adrianza sawed off GO to SS Aaron Hicks- Pillar decent running catch of fly towards the RF line.
  21. What exactly should it be telling us ? The only thing it tells me is people who expect coaches to work miracles with athletes in a month or 2 are delusional. Kopech isn't anyone's sole responsibility. We all knew this team is filled with projects and just turning a few of them into tradable assets by the trade deadline would be a long shot. Getz is just playing the shitty hand JR dealt him from a stacked deck.
  22. I'll think Lorenzen or Clevinger is a strong possibility once either one has signed on the dotted line. All tweets always has terror motives and most of the ones from Insiders are pawns of agents or teams greasing their palms to manipulate. Passan is the only one I like.
  23. Totally agree. Crochet would be an opener pitching only every 5th day ? What good is that? He can do that in the minors so Grifol isn't tempted to use him after 2 or 3 days rest to get a win. He needs to stay on the every 5th day schedule.
