  1. Greek Town should be thrilled. More Greeks at the ball park Opa !
  2. It might not end really early if u start him in the minors going 1 inning for the 1st month, 2 for 2nd month, 3 for the 3rd month, 4 for the 4 month and 5 for the 5th month or number of pitches. Once he starts getting to 3,4, or 5 inning you can pull him early based on number of pitches or if he's getting hit hard. He should be prepped for a very slow ramp up regarding pitches or innings per game or per usual some combination of them.
  3. I don't know . Its not the innings so much as the regiment he'll have to follow for different roles . The up and down of getting warmed up, the temptation to use him perhaps 2 or 3 times a week even if just for an inning. Him not attempting to go more than an inning in every appearance doesn't seem right. I'd rather have him making starts every 5th day throwing pitches between starts as necessary for a guy with his previous arm problems . Just seems like less pressure to get minor leaguers out where you can experiment in games with pitches you're working on developing rather than using your 2 really good pitches to get MLB hitters out.
  4. Wouldn't it be better for his arm health if he just stayed in the minors and prepped to a starter, stayed on a SP training regiment ? I don't understand being a relief pitcher with the Sox . Wouldn't that mess with your BP if you can only use him every 5th day or screw with his SP training routine ? I would imagine a SP plan with his history of arm problems would be tailored differently then an MLB relief arm. Maybe Getz isn't planning on him being there on the opening day or using him as a 2 or 3 inning opener. It just seems to make more sense putting him in the minors to do that. Why waste even more of his service time when you can get some of it back ?
  5. I thought he directed spaghetti Westerns and Knebel was a motorcycle daredevil .
  6. I never said not to look at those things. If you want to find negatives they are very easy to find in all things White Sox. That's simple picking the low hanging fruit. If Maldonado is your favorite fruit ,great ,have at it and ignore the rest of my post to focus on the opening statement that said the same thing you said , by all accounts he sucked. The whole point of the season is to turn trash into gold because that's pretty much the point of any rebuild where constantly you're not allowed high draft picks. If trading pitching gets you the most picks and the only option Getz was given by monetary constraints was to make the pitching look as good as possible and defense and a veteran catcher was his priority, fine by me. It's almost spring. I'm good with optimism on occasion . I bash more than my fair share of Soxcapades.
  7. I had said quite a while ago I didn't think Perez and Whitfield would be coming here based on cost alone. Still a chance for Whit until he signs. Might be a good thing Getz wasn't given a bigger payroll. Less chance to make it worse. Scraps was all he could get. Fedde was the big signing. Not sure given the amount of FAs left but he might've been able to get more. Hard to know. He's probably happy he got what he did from the Sox.
  8. There are a lot of ways to come to that conclusion. If all you look at is offensive and defensive metrics that's your likely conclusion. However if you want Cease and the rest of the staff to pitch well enough to be traded for more than we expect, a veteran catcher calling a good game recognizing his pitcher's strengths and weaknesses and making adjustments on the fly may be a positive influence. That to me is the main reason to play the season. Get as much as u can for Cease and others . For catchers his preparation , knowledge, intelligence might mean more to the Sox future than any other player. I guarantee he'll be catching Cease.
  9. Getting shutout or low scoring in any sport is really depressing and the quickest way to turn off fans. I can take losses , I'm used to that as a Sox fan. Decent offense while losing at least you have some reason to cheer. Defense and pitching doesn't put butts in the seats unless you win.
  10. James Fox says he hears they have 5-6 Dominican signings. Waiting for the fallout from the age scandal before releasing names and bonuses perhaps. 5-6 DR signings more than likely means below $2M left for the Sox if its 6 players averaging $60K per guy so its a very conservative estimate.
  11. I'm sure the current age scandal has a lot to do withe 7 or so teams having over $1M left and the Sox on that list. You could blame it on the age scandal but this is just par for the course for the Sox. There are always reasons not to play in international waters and the Sox are good at finding them. The most likely reasonings from the Sox are the DR is a cesspool of corruption and we don't like it and therefore choose to do everything above board. Can't argue with that right ? Makes sense while the Sox franchise and farm system continuously flounders without any sustainef success internationally. Funny how other teams manage it without being sanctioned by MLB.
  12. I truly think you are insane. You didn't disagree. You called people out who were citing a continuous pattern of terrible international dealings who were wondering , not freaking out, about our DR signings and as usual you and your amateur shrink analysis was insulting and wrong. But rather than admit it you just continue sticking to your pitiful script. You do what bullies always do you attack and keep attacking and call out those you attack as weak and overly sensitive but on other issues act like a saint and a champion of the oppressed. You are a fraud.
  13. Kind of a sloppy game but exciting 2nd half and finish.
  14. LoL but the few people commenting on the DR got chastised as freaking out by the our water carrying mod who knew just as much about the situation as everybody else , which was nothing. It's been more than adequate time for everyone who was signed to be announced. We still have no idea if they actually signed anyone from the DR and how much money they have left. Along with the age scandal this seems like something Fegan or Vinnie Duber should be following up on the next time they have access to Getz. If they have a $2M left why ? Aren't you trying to build a farm system Doesn't the lack of impact players ,that other teams routinely get from International signings, continuously hurt the franchise and it's ability to remain competitive by building through the farm ? I don't want to hear about Robert and Abreu. Ancient history . Where are the results for the last 40 years from other players internationally signed ?
  15. Does that list mean Colas didn't even get a ST invite ? NVM he'll be there he's on the 40.
  16. Is having a dream about Lance Lynn really a win for you ? ?
  17. Silly question. We gave our opinion of how we feel about the trades in the threads for them. No one wins or loses a trade until you see how they play throughout their careers . And even then how do you measure a win or loss in a trade ? There's no scoreboard or standings with trades. All we're doing here is rehashing the same things we said in the trade threads. Who ended up winning the Sale trade ? Immediately following the trade most of us were thrilled . Years later not so much. Most us would say Boston although final results are still not in. Trades end up having extensions to them Boston trades Sale years later. Moncada and Kopech could still be traded.
  18. Altuve ,since the beginning when Houston signed him for 10K , has always been appreciative of the opportunity they gave him when no one else would because of his size. He hasn't forgotten his roots.
  19. I'd be surprised. They've moved on from Toxic personalities if you hadn't noticed.
  20. I haven't been to a lot concerts but always glad I was in the right place at the right time to see the Ramones with the Runaways opening for them at UICC back in '78. Now it's called UIC. Ptatc is a punk rocker ?
  21. Conquistador Procol Harum live is one of my all time favorites. It's epic.
  22. Burnin' Down the House live on the Stop Making Sense album. The Talking Heads.
  23. For Crochet to suddenly become a closer doesn't appear to be in the cards. Crochet might abandone his desire to be a MLB start when he learns that the big money of being an effective starter is out of his reach. He'd still need better command. When you're a pitchet who can't field you're going to blow your fair share of save opportunities. He's the type of fielder who teams feel very comfortable bunting on once he walks a guy. He's never looked very graceful trying to pick up a bunted ball or dribbler and gunning it to 1st base.
