CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I watch pretty much watch whatever games I want for free on my TV just with a bit of patience and Reddit. And I don't even know anything about using a VPN. Took a bit of experimentation and it's always changing but better than paying for sports packages and cable. -
Well all the nice vibes celebrating the great organisational win and great accomplishment of the Barons players and staff comes to a screeching halt pretty damn fast because people love to drag the negative drama into anything positive going on.

He was hitting 97-98 MPH , and got K's with 4 pitches, 4 seam FB, slider, CU, and curve. Didn't seem to throw as many curves as he did his 1st start.Leaned on 4 seam up in the zone and slider and both were crisp but also got a couple K's on the CU and curve. Very impressive and well see more of him in the the upcoming AFL league since he's coming back from injuries.

New White Sox social media manager or strategy?

A sense of humor is not laughing at other people's misery or wishing more misery on them because you feel they hurt you. It's actually spite or maliciousness. Just thought I'd clarify that for you. The emotion is closer to serial killer than comedian. -
Not even sure Ramos ever touched the plate. Catcher blocked plate with his foot and Ramos foot popped over the plate without touching it.

3 straight innings Sox couldnt score the ghost runner and game over by old buddy Tatis.

Mainly because you kept making up scenarios that he didn't want to pitch like a extended rest then coming back or pitching in relief. He been pitching once a week and its been a mixed bag of results. But you seem to think he has to do as hes told when he's way beyond thresholds that it's nearly impossible to be effective. You're really saying any way you pitch him including well into October and he'd automatically do well in a situation you're forcing him into. You're all over the place. Basically you're saying you're under contract and you will pitch when and where we want you to because we own you now go out there and do your fucking job, risk your whole future or ruin your next 2 seasons that we have you because we can't win a world series this year without abusing you. It's not like you're on Crochet's side here.

CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago

And this is why Reindorf partnered with the Wirtz'es to buy up all the parking lots around the UC in order to create the same type of atmosphere as Wrigleyville around the UC and the Sox are not his financial priority now. This is why it appears Jerry is willing to beef up infrastructure and the latest articles about that. Its way cheaper than paying Free Agents. It's probably all lip service anyway just to keep the majority of funds available for the UC project which is what his heirs will keep unless JR blows it like he did with Sportsvision. He may have been ahead of his time with that idea when the technology was worse but now he's behind the times and trying to catch up with the Real Estate sports mega empire that he now thinks is necessary to compete today. He cant do that around the current area in Bridgeport which is why he's been toying with the 78 project too but that's a long shot and why the Sox will be sold. If he could do in Bridgeport what he's doing around the UC he probably would. Once the Sox are sold following his death that should give his heirs a lot of money to finish off the UC project depending on how fast they can start building housing and sports malls and turning it into their own Wrigleyville. -
CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago

The link that heads22 provided and I included in this post is super informative if you click on the CHSN link Heads22 provided. Read it thoroughly and also click on the link they provide within their advice in the Over The Air (OTA) section about antennas from thefreeTVProject.org Your ability to watch games depends on how much effort you're willing to put into using antenna TV or your willingness to pay $100+ per month to DirecTV to get their streaming package that carries CHSN. This is a work in progress but for now DirecTV has the edge and that's a hefty price to pay. SO you must take advantage of OTA free TV and figure out how to make the best use of your Smart TV ability to scan for local channels. This will involve the use of some sort of antenna to pick up that channel and your antenna should be pointing at Willis Tower for best results. If you can pick it up using an indoor antenna start there because it will be the cheapest. I have cut the cord so streaming services are ideal but if you enjoy NFL football and can watch it on OTA channels like Fox, ABC ,NBC and CBS then you should already be using some type of antenna on your smarTV to pick up those channels depending on where you live and the strength of the signal. Each channel may broadcast from different points so the reception depends on where you live and the ability to adjust your antenna accordingly. It's a lot to learn so it depends on your patience and ability to decipher if an indoor or outdoor antenna is best. I'm in California so I cant give advice on whats the best approach in Chicago to get CHSN OTA but if you're willing to put in the time and effort and money to figure out what's best its still way cheaper even to install an outdoor antenna if you must rather than pay for DirecTV every month. Where I live I can pick up the OTA football channels just using a basic radio antenna that i shove into the coaxial output on my smart TV and playing with its location depending on the channel. It's a bit unsightly but basically it works and I just used basic wires for the antenna I had among old electronics stuff. I can pick up other channels too like PBS and multiple Korean, or Vietnamese stations. Basically you just use the INPUT on you SmarTV and scan for channels and whatever you get depends on how good your antenna is and where its pointed. It might change every time you do a scan. The weather is a lot worse in Chicago than in So Cal obviously so as I said read up on those antenna articles and figure it out if cost savings mean anything to you. It's unfortunate the channel is only HD starting Oct 1. That's ok for football and baseball but 4K really helps if you're a hockey fan in following the puck. You local ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS all broadcast in 4K as far as I know and it would help OTA broadcasts of CHSN to be in 4K too. I have no idea if that's under consideration for the CHSN OTA channels but it should be. -
Sox have hired a director of "leadership and culture"
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jerry's just agreeing to it because he knows he won't likely be around to actually spend any real money on the team. The team will be sold after he passes on but in the meantime he doesn't have to spend hundreds of millions on player payroll. The Bulls and Blackhawk paradise around the UC is his heirs future, not the Sox. -

You invest your whole life to reach a professional and financial pinnacle. You don't want some other team messing with the plan that has finally started to work to your advantage . He had no advantage to trusting his future to people who didnt contribute to getting him to his current position. You're in a much better position to contribute to a championship team when you can give it 100% from a physical and financially secure position. He would've been in neither position pitching in the post season in any capacity. You're likely to hurt your team or yourself performing in less than optimal conditions and guttng it out. He knew his limitations. That shows maturity. Now that could've come from his agent but it was still in his best interests. -

He has to wait on that. His performance will dictate his future contract just like any other player. He's controlling what he can at the moment and he believes it's the right path. He come a long way but the decisions he's made do not necessarily lead to a golden future. But he thinks this is the best way for him, not resting for a few months and starting again or pitching in relief. He is a human being not a machine. He is not programmable. Arms do not work that way. He has chosen his course and is sticking to it . -

I think you can't have your cake and eat it too. While I 100% agree with the "my arm hurts " argument was Crochet's levrage and was surprised it actually took someone so long to just say that so props for getting to the heart of the matter. However I dont think it's the Sox fault at all for his arm getting hurt or that they have hurt his career projectory. Bye hook or by crook, luck or smart decisions, Garrett insisting on being a starting pitcher from the beginning may have been more wishful thinking on his part than actually doable at that stage of his career. I'm not even sure if he just wanted to pitch in the majors ASAP and the Sox told him you don't have the innings on your arm yet to become a starting pitcher but we think you can be an effective relief pitcher right now and maybe he said cool but at some point he would've had to pitch in the minrs to build arm strength just like Schultz or Hagen Smith . But his arm couldn't handle it either because he wasn't physically mature enough and he likely gets hurt in any role like so many do. Now Tommy John is over. He's recovered. He's bigger and stronger than he's ever been. Even though it's been a circuitous route, it's benefitted him. He clearly learned from it. I'd say how it's turned out has something to do with his physical maturity and setting him on a path he's happy with. I think the Sox, especially Bannister and himself did the right thing and he has no regrets or bitterness with how he was handled early in his career. I know you think otherwise. -

I think the Fedde trade showed Getz inexperience if he wouldn't trade with the Twins and that he took on a poor fielder from a system known for developing bats who couldn't get anything from Vargas. Youre right it won't have anything to do with his value but it will with the offers along with the other factors I mentioned. Getz needs help with with how to pit these teams against each other. Up your offer ,your rival is going to get him, you clearly value him, start acting like it. -

My guess is that Crochet won't be traded in the off season and that his decision at the 2024 trade deadline may ultimately benefit the Sox. Right now he's just fatigued which is totally understandable given the amount of innings he's pitched. With fatigue comes loss of command and bite on your pitches. Good new is he's healthy. And he won't be a free agent til 2027 so there's still no hurry to move him. I think Getz 'll get low balled for most of the off season given the results of the Fedde trade and once again treating the Sox like crackheads because Reinsdorf's other interests have left Getz begging for good offers when it's apparent teams are hoarding their young position player talent. Getz may just have to pitch Crochet into the season and hope he can reproduce close to what he did in the 1st half this year. Only now Crochet should be able to pitch a lot more innings. -

You make excellent points understanding Crochet's position but then you ruined it all by saying you think it's bush league. I know the typical response was F*** Crochet but you gave the reason why it was actually very mature decision to do what he did. When you are a young man with a talent in a system that chews up and spits out the young and talented players who get injured, you have to look out for #1. No one else is looking out for you in the system. He could get a major injury and never be heard from again at the age of 26. That would suck if you had a 9 figure arm then you give your heart and soul to a team pitching and pushing your talent beyond physical limitations only to get injured and tossed aside. You let that happen to you and you end up hating how young and stupid you were as you empty another liquor bottle. I love what Crochet did. f*** The Man and Big Brother. Power to the People. -
