  1. Might not be so surprising. Had a nice season in limited AB bWar 2.5 ,29 year old ,big guy may not have much time left in the OF as big as he is combined with his age. I haven't looked at his sprint speed but just guessing he's going to slow down pretty soon and be primarily a 1st basement . TB just doing what TB does . Made sure they had Palacios and DeLuca 1st. Trading Raley probably was well thought out in advance. Sold high before he hit 30 and starts to slow down and losses his OF versatility.
  2. Unfortunately this was just what I was afraid would happen when I posted 2 months ago about it.
  3. Says at the end of the article of the link you posted Elijah Evans is a Chicago native.
  4. Nice review. He had 4 White Sox players in his top 100, Montgomery, Schultz, Quero and Ramos. Says he a Chicago native. Maybe your Just Baseball guy is Sox fan.
  5. He's 43 but looks younger. Jet black hair younger face. You didn't watch it ? I was wondering why you said you couldn't watch.
  6. And just to make it clear it's not Elias's pre-market evaluation of Cease. It's his perceived pre-market evaluation of Cease seen through the eyes of the vocal fans choosing to post here. I think it's safe to say Elias is not on film anywhere since the World Series ended talking about how he anticipates Dylan Cease's market to go or how he'll get the pitching most assume he should get. Like any good poker player his cards are still guarded closely and he's still in the game. If it gets too rich for him he can fold .
  7. I think he's just having a little fun poking the bear.
  8. I didn't realize how young Passan actually is until I saw him on the podcast. I'll give him a lot of credit for understanding our pain from the failed rebuild but he also mentioned that there were good times too regarding how promising it looked at some points until JR, Covid, the strike, injuries ,the talent pool drying up and players inconsistent performances took it all away. But again like I always said and Passan echoed it. It starts at the top and works it's way down. JR has always been my No. 1 with a bullet . The rest of the culprits were just branches of the diseased tree.
  9. Yea they have fun, they drink and curse and do the whole make fun of each other and themselves that guys do when you're not too worried about hurting anyone's feelings that only works in a true friendship setting. More sensitive types may find it distasteful but if you wanna feel like your partying away amongst like minded individuals you'll enjoy it. I know My Sox Summer has posted here in the past. Not sure if Beefloaf or Chorizy has.
  10. A veritable cornucopia of reasons for skepticism. After all JR is still the Big Bad Wolf and Getz is Red Riding Hood. JR has always been the wolf in sheep's clothing. It's actually refreshing when so many talking heads refuse to put the blame where it truly belongs that Passan does. As far as giving Getz time that just makes sense but we all know true change won't happen until JR isn't the owner. Notice I said "change" but didn't say things will get better. Can't ever be sure things will get better but we are hoping it's hard to get much worse than it's been.
  11. Unfortunately " whatever this is" is exactly the outcome the conman strives for. The mark feels cheated, the conman makes his money and walks away unscathed and doesn't give a s%*# about what's left in his wake.
  12. I understand but I guess it's easier on me than on others. I know my voice as a fan means nothing and it's actually better for everything else in your life if you are not a die hard even though I still am The fact is you care too much and you feel neglected, used, overlooked , ignored and despised. I can still hate JRs methods but not hate JR . He'll pass away eventually and the circle of life will start all over among fans. You just have to hope that JR hasn't dwindled the number of Sox fans to so few that the franchise can recover eventually. It's always been tough to be a Sox fan. Just look at how bad they are at sustaining any kind of postseason success in their entire history and moreso in a time when it's much easier to make the post season than ever. JR could've owned Chicago, instead he'll go down as a mixed bag. He won some championships , may have even saved the Sox from moving elsewhere after it seemed Veeck ownership might have been the franchises' last gasp. Not that Veeck was a bad owner he just didn't have any money but he did love the fans. Reinsdorf's reign is just almost that of a con man , smart, shrewd never knowing his true nature because he balances out his public personna by showing loyalty to employees and being generous with charities. Of course that good side of him may be highly cultivated like the way a con man fools the mark into thinking he's something he's not. After all the best conman's goal is for the mark to never realize they were conned.
  13. The last part is exactly what I've been telling those who like or dislike the moves so far. Just because he hasn't done anything stupid yet or hasn't fired Grifol or didn't build up a great or even good record of success in his previous job or is filling the 40 with all field no hit MLB rejects we can at least see the beginning stages of what he's doing. Surround yourself with people you think can identity talent that perhaps can be fixed turn those who you fix into prospects. It's a very tough road to hoe .But if one prospect received from a reject turns into 6 years of a good MLB player it's worth it. Of course it's very hard with the position players he's been getting but the pitching rejects at least have some track record of success and aren't as old. My only gripe is Getz so far in his all field no hit culture guys moves is that he reminds me of Guillen who overvalued guys who played exactly like himself and early returns have people nervous about prioritizing pitching instead of best talent and near ready talent over talent still developing. Of course this can be because the boss says compete as soon as possible or he doesn't yet trust his own development processes because he hasn't been on the job long enough yet to hire more people than JR is comfortable with in order to really make an effort to change the lazy, unmotivated player culture but to identify and develop talent to change the real problem which is the losing culture that JR creates with his outdated and cheap infrastructure methods. We'll start to get a clearer picture when we see how the results of the Cease trade turn out. Then it's onto giving Getz some time to work on the infracture and development until it's time to trade Robert .
  14. If you're going to give credit for when Rosenthal and Harold both say the same thing , does Harold mentioning the Mets and Rosenthal saying the full list of suitors is unknown while not mentioning the Mets mean Harold knows more than Rosenthal about it ?
  15. As far as JR needing advertising revenue goes there's almost nothing he can do to dig the Sox out of the hole they are in right now except hit on trades of Cease and Robert and have some of the short term starting pitchers also pitch well enough to add a couple more prospects. That's precisely why Bannister is here. That's why Kopech won't be in the bullpen, why we got Fedde for 2 years and why we got Soroka and hung onto Toussaint. All are long shots for sure to do anything that results in a net positive. Eloy and Moncada will also be moved if they can be. Why keep them beyond the trade deadline ? They are dead men walking. As far as JR throwing more money at the team goes I guess we'll find out soon enough if he's willing to take that risk by holding onto Cease and filling a few more holes before the season starts. I have no idea what that will accomplish throwing good money after bad and putting lipstick on a pig when you 100% HAVE TO trade anyone with an expiring contract who you can get anything for . I also don't understand what makes you think Getz is any better than Hahn while he'll be working under the same constraints. He has yet to prove anything except he likes players that were more like him and pitcher reclamation projects. I don't currently see anything that tells me this team will avoid 100 losses .
  16. I'd go even sooner on Robert . 3 years left if he has another 5+ WAR healthy season. You can't push your luck on his health. That would be the perfect storm. Anything more than that you're looking at 2.5 to 3 years expecting him to be a great hitter and have great health. It would be nail biting time just hoping he can either equal, improve upon and play equal or more games in 2024. If he's great up until the trade deadline in 2024. I'd certainly explore a trade then if market conditions are hot. I'm not advocating much else except making sure you hit on Cease and Robert . We can then revisit what else is going on as far as how the rest of the prospects are developing in the system or other internal changes.
  17. Luckily we're not going to have to worry about looking competent. Cease should be gone before the season starts. Luckily the fans aren't as dumb as JR. They aren't coming back to a degree that will make any difference monetarily by the trade deadline to think JR would add anything of significance even if he was stupid enough to do that with a . 500 team that desperately needs some of the cheap acquisitions to be tradable. The bottom line means more to him. He'd be more than thrilled with the salaries of Cease, Moncada, Eloy,Robert salaries off the books. I think we're stuck with Benintendi .
  18. Yes but you still have to pick a road and even if it's much harder to tank now with that ridiculous draft rule, there's not really much choice on the direction the Sox should take. I can understand not wanting multiple years of tanking being too beneficial but should've made it a lottery then where you still have the best odds of getting the highest pick not falling all the way to 10th.
  19. Amazing payout but not in this poll . If you can spare $100 bet it . The payoff would be much better. I love to watch the Bears CHGO podcast and see one guy paying out $500 for a Superchat donation and many other dollars for more Superchat contributions. Either that money is tax deductible or that's a high price to pay to see your name and your words read on YouTube.
  20. And even if it was, it would all be traded at the deadline. If you keep Cease to get best value and he comes through, he's your best trade chips and he gone ! If Fedde is your 2nd best pitcher ? He gone too. Soroka he gone ! Any reliever with good numbers they gone ! Hit me with those Hawk emojis !
  21. You picked the Sox ? Looks like 2 people did now. Even if by some miracle they are near the top of the division by the trade deadline how could anyone think they wouldn't trade away the guys that performed well enough to get them in that position ? That could be Cease and Robert , a Moncada FA money drive, Eloy staying healthy and hitting at DH. Benintendi at maybe a whole 1 WAR. Vaughn finally figuring things out with maybe at 1 WAR also.Pitching besides Cease would have to be performing way beyond expectations. Getz would be out of his mind happy for 2 reasons. That means all the hard work he and his new hires are putting in worked well enough to make some of those bums valuable at the trade deadline. Now there's an actual light at the end of the tunnel that he's on the right path. More better prospects , more money saved when you dump Moncada and Eloy on someone. The 2nd reason would be beyond comprehension and that would be not trading anyone because you are so deliriously happy about the successes that you go for it. I don't care how stupid we think Getz, Reinsdorf and Grifol are no one could be that stupid . I understand a joke vote or a karma positive vibe vote for your favorite team but there's no way in hell they are coming close to 1st place by the end of the season.
  22. There are question marks at SS and Benintendi was useless last year. Vaughn is almost useless. His miniscule offense barely outpaces his defensive liabilities. Eloy's in his own head refusing to adjust to being a full time DH. Moncada you just throw up your hands about him. Robert you just hope he can stay healthy and he should be very productive offensively but with the lineup around him he better start laying off pitches and taking walks. He's going to see a HUGE amount of pitches out of the strike zone. Top 3 in the lineup should be Benintendi, Moncada then Robert just to try to take advantage of the top 2's ability to get on base. After that it's really bad.
