  1. I think you can't have your cake and eat it too. While I 100% agree with the "my arm hurts " argument was Crochet's levrage and was surprised it actually took someone so long to just say that so props for getting to the heart of the matter. However I dont think it's the Sox fault at all for his arm getting hurt or that they have hurt his career projectory. Bye hook or by crook, luck or smart decisions, Garrett insisting on being a starting pitcher from the beginning may have been more wishful thinking on his part than actually doable at that stage of his career. I'm not even sure if he just wanted to pitch in the majors ASAP and the Sox told him you don't have the innings on your arm yet to become a starting pitcher but we think you can be an effective relief pitcher right now and maybe he said cool but at some point he would've had to pitch in the minrs to build arm strength just like Schultz or Hagen Smith . But his arm couldn't handle it either because he wasn't physically mature enough and he likely gets hurt in any role like so many do. Now Tommy John is over. He's recovered. He's bigger and stronger than he's ever been. Even though it's been a circuitous route, it's benefitted him. He clearly learned from it. I'd say how it's turned out has something to do with his physical maturity and setting him on a path he's happy with. I think the Sox, especially Bannister and himself did the right thing and he has no regrets or bitterness with how he was handled early in his career. I know you think otherwise.
  2. I think the Fedde trade showed Getz inexperience if he wouldn't trade with the Twins and that he took on a poor fielder from a system known for developing bats who couldn't get anything from Vargas. Youre right it won't have anything to do with his value but it will with the offers along with the other factors I mentioned. Getz needs help with with how to pit these teams against each other. Up your offer ,your rival is going to get him, you clearly value him, start acting like it.
  3. My guess is that Crochet won't be traded in the off season and that his decision at the 2024 trade deadline may ultimately benefit the Sox. Right now he's just fatigued which is totally understandable given the amount of innings he's pitched. With fatigue comes loss of command and bite on your pitches. Good new is he's healthy. And he won't be a free agent til 2027 so there's still no hurry to move him. I think Getz 'll get low balled for most of the off season given the results of the Fedde trade and once again treating the Sox like crackheads because Reinsdorf's other interests have left Getz begging for good offers when it's apparent teams are hoarding their young position player talent. Getz may just have to pitch Crochet into the season and hope he can reproduce close to what he did in the 1st half this year. Only now Crochet should be able to pitch a lot more innings.
  4. You make excellent points understanding Crochet's position but then you ruined it all by saying you think it's bush league. I know the typical response was F*** Crochet but you gave the reason why it was actually very mature decision to do what he did. When you are a young man with a talent in a system that chews up and spits out the young and talented players who get injured, you have to look out for #1. No one else is looking out for you in the system. He could get a major injury and never be heard from again at the age of 26. That would suck if you had a 9 figure arm then you give your heart and soul to a team pitching and pushing your talent beyond physical limitations only to get injured and tossed aside. You let that happen to you and you end up hating how young and stupid you were as you empty another liquor bottle. I love what Crochet did. f*** The Man and Big Brother. Power to the People.
  5. I kept thinking at least Outman can play a decent CF and has had a 4 WAr season 😂
  6. 6-0 after 1.5. Vaughn a single and double from the cycle. How the heck did he triple ?
  7. No Moncada in the starting lineup. Thought he was supposed to be back for tonight's game. Better if he's on the bench any way. The Sox don't need to help him try to establish any value for next season. Too late for that .
  8. Is Elko LH ? They probably can't get anyone better than Vaughn for his salary. They could put Vargas at 1st. The few power bats they have they can't afford to replace them.
  9. He's cheap and generally has good ABs and the Sox arent going to pay for a bunch of different players. Not saying he will be on the team but I'm not going so far as to say no way in hell. Who among the Sox position players finishing the season are going to be on the team opening day ? When are Quero and Montgomery coming up ? Ramos, Vaughn,Baldwin, Sosa ? Deloach, Benintendi, Fletcher, Colas, Lee, Robinson, Julks ? Sox will be scanning the non tendered list thoroughly . Plus it's not 100% certain Robert and Crochet get traded in the off season .
  10. Good trick from the bench. Deloach made the throw home.
  11. It was Deloach throwing but your point remains.
  12. He did have 3 hits. Needed to come in a step and short hop that ball. He got caught in between .A top 3rd baseman makes that play but you have to recognize it practically off the bat before the ball is on you. Hot corner read and react. Reps. On the replay it didn't look like he had his eyes on the ball either .Head was up.like he was trying to look at the runner on third going home.Pretty sure the infield wasnt in so the play is to turn 2 by throwing to 2nd not home. Lots of mistakes from either taking eyes of the ball, not taking a step in instantly and letting the ball play him or not thinking ahead and knowing his positioning dictates an attempt to turn a DP by going to 2nd if fielded cleanly. It's good he can play all inield positions but he needs a lot of reps . His bat may be coming around. Its not like the Sox have much better choices even if they add Ramos ,Baldwin and Montgomery to the infield mix next year. He did go 1st to 3rd a few times also if I want to evaluate his game today fairly. He's thekind of guy you keep or trade like you can trade any of the mid twenty's OFs like Fletcher,Deloach, Colas. Fletcher is a no power corner, Deloach similar, Colas with the most upside but he's like the Sox poster boy for what's wrong with the Sox Intl. Spending scouting and development. You wonder if anyone is scouting some of these guys work ethic, coachability, and drive along with the tools.
  13. What's your motivation to work for over 30s years for a tiny fraction of what they make ?
  14. Much appreciation and thanks to @BamaDoc and @Autumn Dreamin for their dedication.
  15. They're bosom buddies. Hawk won't say anything bad about JR. JR made Hawk the GM for a year when Hawk probably knew nothing and still knows nothing about the minors, drafting, scouting, analytics, biometrics or Intl FA.
  16. Youre funny. Getz apologists ? Im criticizing you and others just assuming the O's would've rather had Fedde just because he was available at the same time as Rogers. The O's got who they wanted at the time. Other GMs make bad trades too. That's it. Try using some common sense. Bad GM making bad trades does not equal Bad GM could've made imaginary trade that you made up in your head using your great gift of hindsight.
  17. Yes Balta I know all that. But you didn't address the issue. Is there any proof that the Orioles actually wanted Fedde over Rogers. Rogers had 1 more year of control than Fedde. The Orioles were also looking for a LH starter. His last 9 starts he had a 3.17 ERA. Try becoming familiar with facts of the trade before jumping to any conclusions. You know it is possible other GMs make bad trades. That appears to be the case in this instance. The O's wanted a LH SP and an extra year of control. Until you or anyone else says they have proof the O's made a good offer for Fedde you should probably stop assuming things .
  18. Shh, you're not supposed to try to correct wrong negative statements. Everything you say must be prefaced with I'm not sticking up for ( insert Sox player, coach or FO person or owner) however... Somehow now the implication is the Orioles would've traded Norby for Fedde and it's Getz fault that didn't happen ?
  19. That quote by Ricky Dish was probably in the off season. It was not a part of the press release So it was likely from any time after Getz was hired and before Spring training. Guy shouldve dated the quote . It's obvious JR back then was talking about the remaing hitting core of the often injured trio of Robert, Moncada and Jimenez who all played true to their injury filled careers. Just more BS from JR to contrast against today's BS statement.
