  1. 2nd Ab 2nd solo HR for Burger 30 on the season ! Free game of the day on MLB.TV app.
  2. #29 Just now 1st inning against Nats on 0-2 pitch Cueto pitching for the 21st time since Aug. 15 for the Marlins with a 1 2 3 1st inning on 8 pitches.
  3. Lance Lynn, Dodgers The Braves' lineup has been torturing opposing pitchers all year long, and they got to Lynn on Thursday night, tagging him for seven runs over 4 1/3 innings. But that outing was not indicative of the renaissance he has experienced with L.A. When he first took the mound as a Dodger on Aug. 1, Lynn owned the worst ERA of any qualified starter -- 6.47. Through his first five turns with his new team, however, Lynn posted a 2.05 ERA. He held batters to a .681 OPS, which was a 156-point drop from his season with the White Sox. Lynn has leaned more on his four-seam fastball with the Dodgers, throwing that pitch 53% of the time prior to Thursday’s start and limiting hitters to a .620 OPS against it. They had an .811 OPS off of his four-seamer before the trade. Lynn was acquired at a time when Clayton Kershaw was on the injured list, Julio Urías had an ERA near 5.00, and Tony Gonsolin was struggling through an arm injury that would require Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers desperately needed someone to stabilize their rotation, and the right-hander has done that. He played a sizeable role in what was the team’s most successful month in Los Angeles. 6. Jake Burger, Marlins The Marlins added more beef by buying Burger, whose fun last name is finally paying dividends. He hasn’t been able to maintain his elite 19.6% barrel rate and .313 ISO from the first half; those numbers are at 10.5% and .162, respectively, with the Marlins. However, he has still been a very productive bat. Burger has shaved his strikeout rate with his new club by about one-third -- from 31.6% to 21.3% -- and has made those extra balls in play count. A career .245 hitter, his August slash line was a solid .323/.380/.485. His 137 wRC+ was the second best of his young career in a calendar month.
  4. This podcast includes the 25 minutes of JR with the press answering questions. Pretty good rant by Herb Lawrence too about JR wanting to jhire Getz right away to do it fast being for the fans. Lawrence says he's doing it for himself because he doesn't have much time left. . I also think its pretty hilarious that he praised Getz for teaching players how to think Baseball on the field and how it's the 1st time he's ever seen it. I was what the hell if you want to teach players how to play and think baseball better then hire people to do it. You're the owner ! You mean all this time there was something you wanted and you never thought to hire those kind of people ? Those people are called coaches and minor league instructors and what you are talking about is part of an organizational philosophy that should have been instituted the minute you bought the team. That's the culture you want to instill.
  5. OK my TV app is specifically geared for White Sox content although it has highlights of every game played every day and more MLB content. I have no idea if you can do that with the phone app since i don't use the phone app. Smarts TV's even 4K 50 inchers are very cheap if you don't mind a no name brand like TCL. They never give me any problems . Probably could get one for under $300.00 For podcasts such as CHGO with Vinnie Duber I use the youtube app and subscribe to their content , again on my smart TV youtube app.
  6. I was talking about the TV app. SO if you have a smart TV should be easy to find the MLB app. Doesn't cost anything . you just need a MLB.com user name and password if I remember correctly since I've had it forever. Some stuff isnt in it like the Ohtani and 10 yr contracts for pitchers comments because those comments weren't a part of the televised content. Those were earlier questions to JR. He didn't take questions at the press conference.
  7. Besides the Youtube video if you have the MLB app the short and long versions of it are on that under the White Sox highlights.
  8. If he sells while he's still alive, I think he wouldn't have many offers but he'd take the best one regardless of vision. He doesn't have time to f*** around . If they are sold after he passes I'd expect the same from his kids. Sell and be done with it and pocket as much as you can.
  9. ???? “Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience within our organization to this role,” said White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf in a statement. “Most importantly, he knows our players, both at the major league level and in our system, knows our staff and is familiar with all aspects of our baseball operations department. “Chris has impressed me greatly over the past seven years. In our conversations together this season, I have become energized by his vision, approach and sense of what this organization needs to become competitive again. With his existing knowledge of the organization, top to bottom, I believe his leadership will provide us with the quickest path forward to our goal, a consistently successful baseball team that competes and plays the game the right way. He will re-energize this organization.”
  10. I think he's bailing out. It's not painfully obvious but he's terrible on pitches in the strike zone on the outer edge . Plus he doesn't have much of a stride I really dislike not having a stride be part of your timing and power mechanism. Has to be a transfer of weight from the back side to the front side.
  11. That's never how it's been though. Sun gets in your eyes or lights, bad hop, tricky deflections off side walls then back wall on balls hard hit in corners , no error. Letting a medium one hop get by you , you're either supposed to glove it or at least get your body in front of it. I think even Mullins would admit he misplayed it.
  12. Are you talking about the Anderson single that they gave the 2 base error to Mullins ? To me that's clearly an error. It was a single, he didn't dive and miss it which you can't give an error on. He just played a single into 3 bases . Clearly a 2 base error. If that's not what you are talking about ...nevermind !
  13. I might be right about finishing under 74 wins comment about 62-68 wins just from extrapolating how bad the Sox under performed Zips projections in the past.
  14. It may have more to do with teams who might consider claiming someone getting a clearer picture of there chances at making the playoffs and the health of their current roster. So since a claimed player needs to be claimed by Sept 1st in order to be eligible for the playoffs being put on waivers a week or so prior to that date gives any claiming team a chance to pay a potential playoff roster player as little as possible while also assessing the most recent performance of said player.
  15. I'd been seeing the numbers at Birmingham and wondering where he ranked. Thanks for letting me know where it was . From the beginning of the year all his highlights had him #17. From his highlights on 7/25, 7/29, 8/9 and 8/17 his ranking was 16, 19, 20 and 23 so the recent trades moved him down. Right now he only has 87 AB but he has been killing it for AA but before that his numbers in A+ were not outstanding. He didn't hit very well at all in June in Winston-Salem so my theory that he found something before he was promoted doesn't fly. I love his swing. He has a natural swing that when he swings just a little late it will still be for power to RF so the swing plane is good. Reminds me of Mike Pizza's swing for lack of a more up to date example . Evaluators seem to need to be impressed by something early on like the scouting ranking on his abilities before he became a professional or command of the strike zone, a great glove , great speed . He has none of those things .From the beginning his scouting grade was a 40. His walk rate has been consistently low the last 2 years so when you move up where pitchers have better stuff with more movement he can be exploited. I noticed he was listed at 6'2 180 but by looking at him that seems off. If he's 6'2" he's more than 180. He solid with a thick lower half so I'm guessing he's closer to 6' or more than 180. His Dad Wilton played MLB and he is a cousin to the Tatis's so good bloodlines. Based on that and what @Timmy Usaid about his defense I think that explains his ranking . If he finishes AA the last couple of weeks as strong as he's hitting now you're likely to see him in the top 15 rankings of the Sox at the beginning of next year. But there can't be any room for recency bias in rankings so despite how well he's done in Birmingham we have to see more consistency in his hitting ability into next year.
  16. No idea why Colas would throw to 3rd there. Just throw the ball to 2nd base. He let the trailing runner get to second and both runners score on a soft single. Great diving catch by Robert to get the 1st out.
  17. I don't think It's a foregone conclusion that KW engineered the trade. All we heard is she called KW because they were old buddies. If one got his way over the other (KW or Hahn), or they both agreed on the trade ,we may never know. They needed to get more for Burger. A older SP at AA in his 1st season after his TJ surgery without a track record of any consistence excellence is way too risky . I know Burger had risks too but 25 HR's added to a lineup that needed more hitting during a playoff push meant something to the Marlins. Eder meant nothing to them until he could build some innings and endurance.
  18. As big of a Burger fan that I am I didnt bash the trade but now I've had a chance to delve deeper in a few things. I'm mostly concerned that he's kind of far away from being a SP. He only pitched 92.1 innings in 3 years in college. He only pitched 71 innings in 2021 and that was enough to have TJ surgery. So far this years he's pitched 51.2 innings and can't get anyone out since the trade. He's a long way off from going 150 innings. Considering he'll be 25 Oct. 9th I'm thinking he's almost in the same boat as Crochet except for having more control of Eder. But Crochet is 8 months younger. But both seem like longshots to ever become a starting pitcher . If that's the case for Eder the trade is looking worse every day. Unfortunately Eder looks like a future AAAA relief pitcher. He's going to need decent numbers next year and go over 100 IP but that's not close to a ML caliber starting pitcher where you should be able to go 130 IP minimum to stay in the rotation.
  19. 1st year back after TJ surgery . Career high in innings pitched this year. Only his 2nd professional season. New organization. Could be hitting a wall but he has only pitched 52 innings this year. 2nd year after TJ surgery is usually more indicative. Sucks that he's been so bad and I hope nothing is physically wrong, He's never gone beyond 5.2 IP and that was in his last start before the trade. We'll get a clearer picture next year. For all those pleased with the trade maybe they should have looked at his innings pitched totals in college and the one year in AA. He seemed a couple years away from being able to pitch 150 innings. If he can't go 100 IP next year as a starting pitcher with decent numbers you may be looking at a relief pitcher.
  20. Wolkow has played since his promotion to Kanny ?
  21. I 'd say it's a lot more his eye and that minor league pitchers have a hard time throwing strikes consistently . They also can't afford to pitch around too many guys. You only advance if you get guys out.
