I 'd say it's a lot more his eye and that minor league pitchers have a hard time throwing strikes consistently . They also can't afford to pitch around too many guys. You only advance if you get guys out.

No one cares about this White Sox Winner!

I like wins that Sosa has a big part in. That 3 run RH bomb by Moncada was a rarity. -
Impressive backhanded barehanded catch by the fan !

That was a good inning.

You clicked the link I gave ? I thought I was blocked when whoever 1st gave the link put it up but I found a way around it just by scrolling and finding the down arrow I mentioned.. I've never subscribed to The Athletic . There may be only a certain amount of times per month you can view content for free. Once you surpass it it's unviewable until the next month or however they do it. -

Sure if you want Moore to write better scouting reports for Christian players because he would rather they be drafted ahead of anyone else. Can he still be objective when he has religious beliefs that may cause him to be biased ? This is why no one wants him in any capacity. Team chaplain maybe if they have such things. More of a college thing. -

It may seem simple to you but and to me the direction the Sox have to take. Maybe you should talk to @Lip Man 1 who is more a historian on how often Jerry has said he doesn't like to pay for youth. I just don't think you've been paying attention for the last 40 years. JR will not evolve. I find it hard to believe that someone under him has not suggested investing in youth and presented it in a way you suggest. In the Sox case there is only one person you would need to convince and that's JR. There is zero evidence to date that he doesn't think he knows best. Maybe read this too https://theathletic.com/4800567/2023/08/23/chicago-white-sox-jerry-reinsdorf-shakeup/ This is by Keith Law. It was presented as not being behind a paywall. I was able to read it but many complained it was behind a paywall. But when the screen comes up to block it there is a small down arrow to move the screen out of the way. -

Yea giving JR way too much credit here. How much more proof do you need that JR doesn't care about the farm system? How many times do you need to see the Sox trade Int'l money ? It happened like 6 times already. Do they have a 2nd DSL team ? Have they ever developed a Dominican star player despite the DR being a hotbed of baseball talent for the whole time JR has been the owner ? I mean there is stuff out there that JR doesn't give a rats ass about developing youth. When he had the chance he spent on Robert and an older Abreu and now it's like Cuban and Venezuela are their go to countries. Colas was a prime example of another older Cuban who almost had to produce right away and he did for 1 year in the minors but was woefully unprepared for MLB. Have the Sox recently developed any pitchers ? Has Vaughn reached his potential, how about Moncada and Eloy ? They can't draft, develop , keep anyone healthy and have sucked in trades and Free Agency. The time to build the infrastructure was before the rebuild and it's never happened in 40 years of ownership and now he's going to do it ? The 2 are not mutually exclusive. JR and Hahn can both suck. If JR cared about spending the money according to anyone else's wishes besides his own he'd hire Click or someone from a winning organization and let them rebuild the infrastructure and get rid of the fat absorbing paychecks from years of getting too comfortable in their positions. -

Yeah a sleeping giant if you want job security but that can't happen because JR is 87 .He isn't all of a sudden going to say "Yeah I agree we're understaffed and behind the times in player development and I'll add another DSL team and stop trading Int'l money and let's spend some FA money on actual superstars. JR may outspend the rest of the division on player payroll but way too many other teams are building from the ground up. The Orioles are currently better than any Sox team during the Championship window. All the Reds need is some pitching now. TB, the Braves and Houston made the most of their infrastructure but their systems have taken some hits lately. The Cubs bounced back pretty quickly and a top farm to boot. Even the Pirates are showing some life with their prospects. The Sox basically are a lame duck franchise right now. -

That's part of the plan for selling and relocating. Sox fans won't support the team. Attendance will suck until they sell. No idea how much that would affect the bottom line to a buyer. JR and Co. are already way ahead. -
That's just JR understaffing as usual. 2 positions to fill ? Fill them with 1 person !

You're not doing your job if you don't state the obvious. Same thing would've been said here too.

No doubt Hahn and anyone he relies on have done an incredibly poor job. I just think when it comes to trades/drafting/development and the people surrounding Hahn that the Sox are understaffed and don't hire the best people including scouts analytics types and even the equipment to make Hahn as well informed as he could be. Plus JR puts a lot of restraints on almost everything to do with acquiring and developing good young talent. There's not been many attempts to go after Asian players. They haven't ever had a Dominican star and that's quite a feat since the DR has been a hotbed of talent in the whole time JR has owned the team. I think JR's constraints are big enough to limit all aspects of the organization to a large degree. I do agree that there are GM's out there who could operate under the constraints of a JR owned team but maybe not someone with experience or a network of his own to get the job done. Plus if someone with that kind of experience is ever interviewed for GM he'd have to want to meet staff ,see all aspects of scouting and development and get assurances from JR that he could upgrade and get an increased budget even if at the expense of the payroll for players budget for a couple of years if necessary .He'd basically have to interview JR and get the lay of the land and convince JR that his current way is wasteful , irresponsible and unproductive. JR wouldn't hire someone like that.

If he keeps putting up WAR at the current rate since he left the Sox he could finish with over 4 fWAR . He's accumulated 1.1 fWAR in 17 games with the Marlins. I know that rate is unsustainable but it's impressive nevertheless. 1.4 with the Sox, 1.1 with the Marlins to put him at 2.5 now. A decent finish without a prolonged slump could get him up to 3.5. It's still too early to evaluate the trade properly though.
-
I agree JR is the #1 culprit . He decides how much to spend in player development, from hirings to budget. He sticks his nose into everything as is his right in the position he holds and he's the one conducting the interviews ? It's a farce. Until he makes fundamental changes in the way HE views how to operate a franchise that cares about things that Tampa Bay does then the franchise will be forever mediocre of worse until the team is sold. Even then there are no guarantees ,If Tampa Bay can do what they have done on a shoestring budget it can't be that expensive to overhaul the whole minor league system.

Looks like Eddie Gaedel.

So is he now on a 10 game hitting streak ? Too bad the rest of the Marlins lineup had such a hard time with the Dodgers pitching. Eury Perez looked amazing in his start in the 1st game.
