Give me a break .Eloy has just as many flaws in his game as Burger. The best ability is availability. Eloy has rarely shown that ability. Can Eloy manage to play a position or run the bases without getting hurt ? I'm not upset with the trade . Eloy is younger than Burger and ATM is a more versatile hitter. He's also more expensive . He can play 2 OF positions so badly and at such high risk of injury that he's more of DH than Burger is. Next year could be Eloy's last year with the Sox. One more lengthy absence from him in 2024 and how likely is it the Sox pick up his $16. 5M 2025 option ? Jakes 1st year of Arbitration is 2026. This is not as cut and dried as you make it seem and if you didn't consider all these things you might just be baseball stupid.

You could easily complain about it if Burger hits 40 HR for the next 3 years and Eder at age 28 still isn't a solid MLB pitcher.People always talked about Eloy hitting 40 but he hits too many GB. At least Jake knows how to hit flyballs.

He was already making strides in walks. He had 11 in July to lead the Sox. Plus his June was terrible. His July was pretty damn good . I think an .889 OPS and despite the low BA he got that .100 pts difference between BA and OBP that I always look for. But Sox sold high for an iffy fielder with a really bad injury past. I'll miss Burger bombs and that special sound when he barreled it up at one of the highest rates in baseball.

Me too. But I learned a long time ago that business is business. He should be playing 3rd base for the Marlins. They've nothing out of Segura. Eder was pitching great in AA before TJ and now that he's back his last 2 starts were pretty good.

It's like saying you got the rookie of the year and he will never be better so trade him. You might be right or you might be wrong. Obviously he's not a rookie but he isn't far from it. He's right at 500 AB for his career. and has 34 HR, 27 doubles and 3 triples . That's 64 extra base hits. He has 51 singles. For a guy who hits the ball so hard his BABIP is only .225. I can definitely see that improving when his pull rate goes down a little bit and he starts taking advantage of the whole field. His power numbers might come down a little bit but his B.A. and OBP could rise. He led the Sox in walks in July with 11. Benintendi was next at 9 . Opponents are saying don't let Robert or Burger beat you. Burger is learning on the job. Robert only had 4 walks in 15 more AB. Burger led the team in HR in July with 8. Robert was next with 5. Burger had a terrible June but he came back pretty strong in July . You can see the growth. Fans just aren't patience in a game that requires it. June was the bloom is off the rose for fans and Burger in June. Everyone is expecting him to fail or get injured. Quick lets get rid of him before he turns into a pumpkin. Happened to Beckham, Mercedes, Palka. Haven't actually seen many Sox players have a hot start to their careers and some have argued like he's already a finished product. He missed 2018, 19 and 20 with the Achilles injuries which were his age 22, 23 and 24 seasons .His last stop only in single A Kanny before the injuries. He finally started playing again in 2021 at the age of 25 and the Sox put him in AAA Charlotte where he could've easily failed after missing 3 years of development time and skipped A+ and AA. He got 476 AB in Charlotte in partial seasons splitting time between there and Chicago. I'm looking forward to seeing how his career pans out. I'm not sure he has reached his Zenith unlike others.

The team is going to blow your way or his way or my way because until JR is no longer the owner he will do things his way. And his way is never enough.

It's more than that. It's telling a guy who's been very successful that his way of doing things in this particular market to create winning sustainable baseball should start with the minor league system which he would absolutely never do.

Sox will get a new owner once JR passes but until then I don't know if anyone in the organization has the guts to tell JR that things can be done differently and he can still make money. That would mean telling him they half assed the rebuild by not spending on the people and products needed to give the young talent the best chance to flourish. JR can't help but stick his nose into everything instead of hiring the right people to do their jobs. You could use Tampa Bay as a model to strive for constantly ridding themselves of productive MLB talent to keep the cheap young talent flowing into the system. Baltimore has more talent on its roster and in the minors than the Sox ever did. Once the Sox graduated Vaughn they had nothing left and Vaughn still hasn't become anything. Madrigal became nothing. Collins , Fulmer ...nothing. Tatis and Semien traded. Eloy, Moncada, Robert , Kopech, Crochet can't stay healthy. Keuchel , Lynn, Grandal had a few good years but were not long term answers at the ages they were acquired. They were middling price pieces as were the parade of relief pitchers Hendricks, Kelly , Graveman, Kimbrel along with Benintendi ,Clevinger and Pollock. Harrison. Eaton's and Andrus' 2nd times through. Am I missing any of the middling ,aged , under developed , talentless or infirm misfits judged to be core or final pieces to the " talk to me at the parade" puzzle ? Did the Sox get any lasting pieces out of the Intl. money JR traded away ? I can barely stomach writing this and it could be soooo much longer if you really wanted to get into more than the last 5-10 years.

There's also the fact it's a great sellers market. Despite not even being close to the pitcher he was last year it might be best to take advantage of the current market conditions and get some high end talent . I just hope it's extremely high end talent, young for their level having a great season talent. Maybe in a few years when there's a new owner who cares about really producing a sustainable pipeline of young talent those things you mentioned won't matter. But in the meantime pretend you are Tampa Bay. What would they do ? Sellers market, he's healthy now , got good peripherals. Drive a hard bargain for him but please concentrate on well rounded , players with speed and defense already a part of their arsenals. These good minor league systems have shown that swings can be reworked. Read up on how the Dodgers do it with Justin Turner, Muncy ,Will Smith James Outman.

By the time he's able to throw again this year the season will be nearly over. He got hurt again on his current rehab assignment if I'm interpreting the tweet and article combined correctly. I have no idea how he was rehabbing. Was it preparing to return to the pen or just arm strengthening in general just to be able to pitch an inning or so every 5th day. He seems very far away from doing very much next year. No one should think he'll be able to be much help to the Sox in 2024. With some off season program to strengthen and condition without any setbacks he should get some starts next year at some level. If the setbacks keep piling up though he may have to realize his arm was not meant to pitch in any capacity. Good luck Garrett !

I probably can speak for many Sox fans who still enjoy watching great players wearing a White Sox uniform win or lose. While winning is always good trading great players for prospects does not guarantee winning in the future so what's really the point ? We saw how once the Sox started winning how bad they were at finishing it off. Just keep him and Cease they are your best pitcher and position players. Allow the fans to enjoy them. Maybe once the Sox have an owner who knows how cultivate a productive minor league system and knows how to excite the fan base with the pursuit of superstars we can start to have real hope again. Until then, since I'll still be watching White Sox baseball I'll selfishly want to watch good/ great players rather than get my hopes up waiting for minor leaguers to become productive MLB players.

I did forget the possibility that there could be legit trade talks about Eloy. There is a scarcity of quality bats on the market . I don't know if the Sox would trade him but it is possible with the right offer. I'd certainly consider it.

Probably figured he was hitting too good to play. Probably just resting his groin to make sure he doesn't get it torn from his body. He might end up PH today.

I love wins for my favorite team as much as anyone. That's why I still pay attention to them. But I have no desire to blame anyone in the house that was poorly designed by the architects.

They'll soon revert to their true selves. They are at home and Cleveland can't hit a lick. Continuing to search for a scapegoat about clubhouse attitude as a reason for under performance wouldn't exactly say much about the mental toughness of the players. Losses pile up over years because of incompetent leadership off the field. Reinsdorf's Reign has shown this again and again. He is the one constant in 40 years of wandering in the desert with an occasional stop at an oasis that quickly dry's up.

I'm not blaming the cheap labor but I am blaming those in charge who don't recognize that you spend a lot less once you have a high functioning system with the right people in place to see that it's applied to every minor leaguer in the system. Just last year in Int'l FA is a prime example. The Sox didnt spend $1.5M of their allotted funds. Maybe they still can. Now I'm sure they could've spent it on a bunch of 16/17 yr olds who went to other organizations or got only one more guy with an increased offer. I know it's a corrupt system and all so that's JR's excuse not to pay for youth. But the Sox also have no presence in Japan or Korea also for the higher priced established veterans of those leagues. In the days of unlimited spending the Sox got Abreu and Robert and other teams also handed out big contracts. The owners soon realized they were spending too much and came up with new rules to stop themselves from being reckless. Now they want to limit themselves further by turning Itn'l Free agency into a draft. Somewhere around half of baseball has 2 DSL teams to make sure those taken in Int'l FA have a place to play as often as possible since those picks every years can get into the 20's. The Sox have one DSL team. They are small time in most aspects of making sure youth gets every chance imaginable to flourish.
