  1. Great now Hendriks appearance looks worse might've been tied, however I'm not a firm believer that ELoy wouldve hit a HR after a scoreless inning but 1 run behind better than 3.
  2. I keep hearing stuff like this but do you think JR will hire anyone decent ? Hahn should be fired and GM with some experience would do but JR is still running the show.
  3. I actually thought Bummer was a better choice than Hendriks for the 8th since Thaiss is lefty and so is Walsh. Rengifo SH. Bummer does have reverse splits so a coin flip I guess.
  4. Santos and Middleton some great pitching. Time to get back in it so the late inning relivers can blow it. Please don't let Hendriks blow a save. Please Please. We need a triumphant return.
  5. Moncada was the only one of our 3 hitters that inning to actually take a called strike. Make the ptcher throws balls in the zone ! I know Romy hit a HR on a 1st pitch fastball but at least that ball was in the zone.
  6. If t was that easy 2 put up 2 starts of 0 runs against the Central the Royals ansd Guards would be even worse then they are. Kopech is a baby in terms of his MLB starting pitching experience. It's just how it goes for guys who aren't finshed products yet.
  7. I can't really blame sheets. A RH 1st baseman doesnt have to reach across his body to catch that like Sheets had to since he's LH. Also running hard right towards the dugout means you can't exactly go all out for it. He had to mince his steps at the end and just couldnt reach it.
  8. AT DH you had your choice of Burger, Grandal or Vaughn . And they picked the 3 best choice against a RHP. That 1st inning was why you need a run producer like Burger in there at home.
  9. You have to put him back out there and hope he settles down and gives you 4-5 innings. Can't burn the pen in the 1st game of a home stand. Despite how this game has started you still need to win more than you lose at home.
  10. A lot of people here wanted Adam Duvall . So did I .He signed a 1 yr deal with the Red Sox for $7M. He started off scalding hot and put up 1.0 fWAR in just 37 PA. Then he hurt his wrist diving for a ball in CF April 10th and is now on the 60 DL . I also wanted Colas to get his shot. It was time. You just can't let a guy approaching 25 yrs old who put up great stats in his very 1st season in the US with a huge hole in RF not get a chance. It didnt work out but he's working on his game in Charlotte trying to be more selective but not having the hitting success we've seen. He is taking more walks and thats a good sign . But you have to still be able to hit while you take walks . That seems to be Yoans problem this year. His walk rate disappeared but his hitting has recovered ( his LH hitting , not his RH hitting). Putting the 2 together isn't easy, even for a veteran like Yoan. It must be very hard for Colas and I don't know what those hitting coaches were trying to do with him but it certainly hasn't helped. He just wasn't making any hard contact. Maybe his lack of baseball playing while trying to get out of Japan and finally getting to play last year hurt him too. Maybe not in the minors but against experienced MLB pitching his inexperience was apparent.
  11. How the hell can Burger not be in the lineup ? The guy has massive Home/road splits. Him and Robert only carried the team is their last home stand to get the Sox to within 5.5 games of 1st. Him and Robert sucking on the recent road trip is at least one reason why the Sox lost. Actually Robert started to cool off the last home stand but his slugging and OPS are much better at home. But sure lets leave the guy with the .833 Slugging and 1.208 OPS on the bench at home.
  12. I thought the pitch Burger lined out on might've been a strike. I thought it might be a little inside but I think it was kind of a hanger and those can be hit for HR's . Burger hit it well but right at the LFer. But not one of them took a called strike when he wasn't throwing pitches in the zone. If you don't put any pressure on the pitcher to throw strikes he'll continue to not throw strikes and sometimes they are just wild. We never will know if he was wild. For all we know he would've loaded the bases with 2 straight walks or forced to throw something other than that great curveball.
  13. Scripts need a rewrite after only 6 pitches to get 3 outs. Why burn 2 relievers instead of just one and why bring in the non closer ?
  14. My thoughts are you see that pitcher warming up in the bullpen. Now I don't know whats the percentage of swings on pitches out of the zone for him. I'm just guessing that he gets a lot of them. A well prepared team with a good video analysis department should have those kinds of reports on every pitcher and have that info readily available at the start of a series. That info should be available to every player and brought up by coaches before the inning starts . Then it's up to the player to use that info . I have no idea how good the Sox video analysis department is nor how often that info is reinforced upon entry into a game by opposing pitchers. Hitting is very hard and smart hitters , smart coaches and a good infrastructure behind the scenes all mean a lot. It's a team game in a lot more ways than just the manager.
