  1. No question about it.
  2. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) for one, gilmore joined floyd a little before syd left, and for 2, gilmore's a one trick pony that couldn't dream to be as creative as syd. Gilmore wouldn't have been in a more high profile position in the band if not for Barrett going bonkers. That is what I was saying. Also, if you believe that Barrett's drug induced ramblings are more "creative" than Gilmore then more power to you.
  3. Hey Syd, thank's for going nuts on acid and whatever else you did. If not for that the more talented Dave Gilmore wouldn't have been in Floyd. Edit: My favorite Barrett story is back in the early 70's when he was all drugged up and kidnapped a producers cat and fed it acid and the cat went bonkers. Syd had some serious issues. I'm surprised he lived as long as he did.
  4. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 03:34 AM) Nice find, thanks. Also HowardForums.com is a great place to ask this sort of question about cell phones specifically. DK, I actually browse howards forums with some regularity. I was very interested in the Sony Ericsson w900i. Well, until I found the best deal was around $500 shipped. I think I need cheaper tastes.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 03:18 AM) Is there really any doubt? Shallow right it is. We were close, just wrong side of the outfield.
  6. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) Crap, this is why you need Crede. Great minds think alike
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 03:07 AM) pirate's fans are furious with the loss of homefield advantage in the world series
  8. Wow, line shot there by Mauer right off Hoffman.

    Gadgets

I have been looking for a new cell phone recently that will work on T-Mobile. After looking at tons and tons of phones and seeing all the toys and gadgets they have now inside phones (mp3 players, video players, games, radio) it got me to wondering what kind of gadgets the people here on soxtalk use. Examples: iPod/mp3 player, PSP, high tech phones, etc. So lay it on us. What kind of gadgets do soxtalk users love? (Also, if anyone can suggest a decent phone for me that works on a GSM network lemme know ) Edit: Oops mods, can you move this to SLaP?
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 05:49 AM) Solid work there, SFF. If you're not registered at talkbhawks.com, please do, and post this -- I'd like to pin it somewhere for reference. Thanks. Yeah I am registered over there and i'll post it over there as well. As I read, Calder is going to arbitration to get a raise over his 1.3 million and they are close to inking Vrbata to a deal so both of them will get raises most likely. However, even with the unsigned guys getting small increases I don't think it is even close to being so much that they couldn't afford a Samsonov or Sammy + someone else.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Remember that Yawney thinks that Ruutu's best position is on the wing and not at center. Will be interesting to see if this stops Ruutu from being the #1 center. What's our situation like cap - wise now? If we get a Carter or Samsonov for about 3-4M, how much will that put us back? I did a little calculating. Not sure how accurate the numbers are but here goes. Hawks current roster and payroll as far as I can find through tsn.ca and sportsnet.ca: Arkhipov, Denis $700,000.00 Estimate? Aucoin, Adrian $4,000,000.00 Bourque, Rene $750,000.00 Calder, Kyle $1,311,000 Cullimore, Jassen $1,900,000.00 Havlat, Martin $6,000,000.00 Holmqvist, Michael $450,000.00 Keith, Duncan $621,000.00 Khabibulin, Nikolai $6,750,000.00 Lalime, Patrick $700,000.00 Lapointe, Martin $2,400,000.00 Ruutu, Tuomo $858,800.00 Salmelainen, Tony $750,000.00 Estimate Seabrook, Brent $942,400.00 Sharp, Patrick $725,000.00 Smolinski, Bryan $1,520,000.00 Vandermeer, Jim $570,000.00 Vrbata, Radim $475,000.00 Total $31,423,200.00 Toss in roughly 1.3 million each for Brown and Barnaby for their buyouts(estimated, not proven). That puts the Hawks at $34,023,200.00. The cap upper limit is $44,000,000.00. That leaves the Hawks with around $10 million in cap space. This is all a fairly conservative estimate in my estimation. I also read on HF boards from another poster that the Hawks payroll is at $27 million with 7 players left to sign. Therefore, we could still take on another contract such as Sammy at $4 million a year and have plenty of space to work with. Whether Wirtz goes anywhere near the upper cap limit is still up in the air. However, financially we can do it if the management decides to.
  12. If the Hawks could nap someone like Peca that would be great.
  13. Just posted this on talkbhawks. Hawks traded Bell, Barinka and a 2nd traded for Havlat and Smolinski... Also inked Havlat to a 3 year extension. Thoughts from the big hockey fans here? http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=170991&hubname=nhl
