  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) Until convicted, I feel it is a sad day when voters in Districts outside his, determined who would represent Sugarland, TX. In his speech, he said that he was resigning to ensure that Democrats can not "steal" his seat "with a negative, personal campaign". If he's worried about losing the seat, I'd say that the voters in his district are making the determination, albeit indirectly.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) I'm glad all these guys that have been gettin ghurt lately dot my fantasy teams. Like they don't suck enough already. Then I hope you have Griffey too. Left the game today with knee "stiffness". I love irony. Edit: Doh! The article used to be titled "Notes: Griffey happy to be healthy". MLB jerks ruined my oh so humorous reference.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) Its completely obvious we know nothing about the evidence the prosecutor has, because if the DNA was his only hope, he wouldn't still be talking about bringing a case. The DA has given us nothing, we have only heard from one side, and yet that is enough for you. That's just not true, the DA has been very outspoken, particularly about the dna. One article with his comments: If this wasn't such a big part of his case, you wouldn't think he'd be stating to the press that he "expects" the dna to point the finger at the players. And today he's getting further tests done. He's also stoked the flames of the race issue: That's the da stating that the woman was raped by white men. At least he hasn't "pointed a finger at anybody." I don't understand why we should doubt the defense attorneys. Everything they've said on the evidence is pretty verifiable stuff -- the photos, the dna. They wouldn't flat-out lie about it, and there's no evidence that they have, so...? Here's what I want to know -- if the da was so confident that dna tests would point the finger at the team, you'd expect that there was some substance (semen, blood, skin) that could provide an id. If that points to someone else, that absolutely should exonerate the players. If it isn't there, why did this guy place such an emphasis on the dna results? Fwiw, I doubt the money angle. I don't know why she would do it -- if she really was pretty messed up before she got there, well, there ya go.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) With all due respect, that might be the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. The DA seems to have some kind of evidence as he is planning to procede with the case, so it doesn't sound like there is "no evidence" to me. Quite the contrary if they feel they can take a case to the grand jury, even lacking the magic bullet of DNA proof, they must have something pretty impressive to go on. Maybe. But considering how soon she reported the crime, it would be surprising if they couldn't find anything. All he's said so far, as I understand it, is that he's going to keep investigating, not that he'll file charges.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) Willie Harris Time??? Break out the hat, then the champagne, and pass a flute to chisoxfan14.
  6. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) I just saw a picture of Mexicans holding crosses and pictures of Jesus. Is that ok for them to do that, I think so. But if I ever went to go protest something and did that people would think I'm crazy. No, they'd think you're very religious.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=2404002 So tell me now, is this kid a sick son of a b****? Or a foul mouthed kid who said the wrong thing at the wrong time? Who knew "foul mouthed" could be a euphemism? Given what was in the email, yeah, he is a sick son of a b****. Innocent of any crime, but still damn sick.
  8. Better, but does it seem odd to anyone else to see soxtalk.com banned on soxtalk.com.?
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) These kinds of threads don't work unless you name names. That's why I'm gonna have to call "Mad Gay" on this one. No offense to any of the homosexual posters here at soxtalk. Bingo. I don't know who the hell you're trying to call out, op. Not anyone I've read.
  10. "It wasn't clear whether the bill was a mistake, or if Yahaya's father's phone line was used illegally after his death." Yeah, I'm guessing that, no matter what happened to the line after his death, it'd be pretty difficult to rack up a phone bill worth about 20 times the GDP of the entire United States. Just spitballing, here.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Joe Crede is going to go all October on the Royals today. In the 4/9 gamethread. I just love this.
  12. The last 2 games have looked like last season, even though the first one was a loss. We would sometimes get losses on pitching gems then, too. The only downside -- that includes the comatose offense. 5 hits off Scott Elarton, it got the job done today, but we should aim higher than that.
  13. Exhale.... Great to get the win, and a great performance by Buehrle today. Setting the tone the 2nd time through. (Not you, Javy, you don't change a damn thing.) Let's put these series behind us and really kick some ass in Detroit.
  14. QUOTE(talkchisox @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Last year we were stacked in the pitching department. This year we have the starters and the hitters. Can we repeat with the bullpen we have? BTW, how sick did Buehrle pitch today...! Awww, yer so cute.
  15. Did you see it, or just hear it from someone? Did she at least swear on the wood leg?
  16. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) way to make me look like a Dbag lol, i'll roll with it though It's nothing personal, but if you didn't hear of Hafner before this week, that's on you, you're way out of the loop. The guy's a known commodity at this point.
  17. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) I know it is only the beginning of April, but where in the world is the Sox pitching staff? Pettitte, Zito, Odalis Perez, Wakefield, Daniel Cabrera... We haven't been good, but it's not unusual. It seems like pitchers everywhere are getting hammered. And Javy looked brilliant today, imho. So don't jump to conclusions on this.
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) The alarming thing is we've already faced adversity. Dye is hurt And Hermy is out because of injury. Face facts ... we do need both these guys. We better not "need" Hermy, because it doesn't look too good for him.
  19. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) Way to pick up on the flavor of the week literally. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) Jim Thome is a beast period, hes had 15AB's and 7 (half of them) have been BB... Fyi, walks don't count as at bats.
  20. I'm not at all convinced he's done. Reportedly the surgery was simple, and Jobe said the only consequence of the surgery would be some numbness on the skin of his elbow -- nothing that should affect his mechanics. It seems reasonable to think the pain it was giving him was the reason he lost velocity, especially when it was getting worse over st. (The nerve was moved in the previous surgery but had moved back to its old location during recovery.) We'll see.
  21. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) Have a beer, a glass of wine, a Pepsi, whatever. Watch a movie, get laid, relax. Tomorrow is another day. That said, Go White Sox!! Yeah, well, I chose to watch the Bulls game. So what now, genius?
  22. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) ok come on now. its just this overwhelming sence of pessimism is really getting annoying. so it's ok to be pessimistic about the Sox, but when i'm annoyed at the pessimism that's not ok? Pessimism? The Indians are one of the best-hitting teams in the majors. We're better than last year, but that's starting from a pretty low standard, and when you look at the hitting differences at some positions -- c, ss being the most obvious -- you're looking through some serious rose-colored glasses if you think saying they have a better lineup is just "pessimism". I think most of the "overwhelming sence of pessimism" is being manufactured. 98% of the complaints are just based on the fact that many of us don't like losing. Sorry if you don't like hearing anything negative, but we have played like s*** at times and done some damn stupid things. Look, I don't know what's on Chicago radio stations. Maybe people there are really going nuts. But as for this site, the "overwhelming sense of pessimism" is just being imagined.
  23. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) i dont like that as a first post... *sigh* i hate white sox fans... Yeah, no obvious truths allowed here. Nice sentiment there. Love you too, Reddy.
  24. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) And for everybody that "can't believe" anybody cares what people put on their hotdogs, you also have toknow that of course nobody really does. The ketchup-on-a-hotdog fight is supposed to be light-hearted ribbing, precidely because it is so completely inconsequential. Speak for yrself. Some of us actually care about our traditional family values.
