  1. QUOTE(pale_hose @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) Ya know, its only the 4th game of the season, but still...these last three games have been horrible. We started out great tonight, but what the hell has been happening to our pitching later in the games? Should we be worried? Or just not worry? I think tonight will be a wake-up call for us and we can pull our heads out of our butts...The Royals? damn... As tired as I am of the 'don't discuss anything negative' crowd... I don't think it's time to worry, not nearly. The season has been bizarre so far. Even Pettitte was just f'n shelled. The Royals can sweep us and I'll feel the same. It's just too early. Streaks can happen anytime.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Agreed, the "rich white college students" will always beat the "dumb ass black girl stripper" in court. That's America for you, however if the DNA comes out like the DA seems to think it will, there will be a trial which will do a lot of damage to Duke's rep, regardless of how it ends up. She was a college student too, btw. Just to put that out there, not saying you're actually calling her what you put in quotes.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) That's what I'm saying. If I were him I would have made it super obvious that I was being sarcastic....if it really was sarcasm that he was trying to convey. Oh, okay. I agree, if it was sarcasm, it would have been better done differently. But if he wasn't speaking straightforward, he shouldn't be crucified over it. The literal statement is reprehensible, not making sarcasm obvious is just a faux pas.
  4. Maybe Ozzie is just testing Garland, seeing what he does when his manager blames the loss on him. Since it's not necessary to win April games, might as well see what size his cojones are now, rather than wait till October, when we're guaranteed to play, due to our World Series bye.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Well if it was meant to be sarcasm I would have went out of my way to make that very obvious. Not yours, I meant 101's post looked like sarcasm to me.
  6. The odd smiley, the fact that it was a response -- I took it as sarcasm. And I very, very often disagree w/ 101. Fwiw.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Oh come on, he was making fun off how played up the story was. Poking fun at the DNA samples and the "outrageous" acts that people are so appalled about. He obviously thinks that nothing went on, and that people are overreacting, his email expresses that maybe they should actually do something bad to warrant the attention. It allegedly happened on the night of the 13th. Police responded to the woman's call at 3/14, 1:22 am. His email was dated 3/14, 1:58 am. How do you figure he was making fun of the public reaction when the public reaction hadn't happened yet?
  8. I can't put it better than Royko did. In 1995: And responding to some readers in 1993: Still missed, Mike.
  9. Something I'm just curious about here -- If this nerve is so unnecessary that it can be tossed out, why didn't they just remove it when they performed the first surgery? Were they unaware that it might cause problems?
  10. Seriously, the ketchup taboo has been around forever, and it's young and old, Sox and Cubs, anyone. Royko wrote great columns about hot dog etiquette. Better get used to that.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) It doesn't matter if soxtalk isn't like that. The article is worth reading, period. The point of the article is that steroids offer no bad when taken properly, especially when under doctored supervision. The High Schoolers who take them are taking them at an age they shouldn't be. I have no sympathy for these clowns and to a lesser extent these parents who for the childs wrongdoing is trying to obliterate a good thing. Some of my relatives would love to see steroids out of baseball, whose parents' lives were extended by steroids. They aren't trying to "obliterate" steroids in general. I don't know of anyone besides Christian Scientists who is trying to do that. The fact is, no reputable doctor (one who wants to keep his license) would "supervise" an athlete in a steroid regimen. There's a reason for that -- any steroid use is "abuse" for healthy adults. You limit it to high schoolers, but the article does no such thing. "Why has my honorable name been soiled just because a few dishonorable athletes have abused me?" The point of the article is that steroids aren't bad in general. Any moron knows this.
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) On many message boards, posts are made, and then the post is closed and stickied. Treat it like one of those, if thats what you want to do. I just thought it was worth the read. Not this one, and you knew that. So don't b**** when comments are made. It's worthless. The point of the article is that certain steroids do have a legitimate medical purpose. Anyone who doesn't know this probably isn't intelligent enough to use a mouse, anyway.
  13. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) ...I didn't ask for anyones opinion or thoughts here. You just posted it on a message board. Makes perfect sense.
  14. Totally agree, we are so impossibly fantastic that we will have at LEAST ten games that we can give away, even to division rivals. If we actually play to win (how quaint!), we're guaranteed 110 wins. At WORST we'll have 105 wins with Ozzie's "play the most questionable guys first in big games that aren't really big games even though they're against the Indians because they occur in April" philosophy. Christ, anyone questions Ozzie's decision and everyone announces that the poster's given up on the season. A pretty mild thread speculating that the World Series celebrations might have distracted the players also gets locked while these useless STOP ALL NEGATIVITY!!!!!!!!!! threads keep chugging. How does anyone get from last year that we have games to play with in April? So have at it -- let's hear how I'm not a Sox fan b/c I'd rather see them win than have extended spring training for Boone Logan.
  15. I've never been there, but I'm almost certain it exists, or did. Didn't they even have commercials during M*A*S*H reruns? (Not sure if it's the original, but I seem to recall these. With mention that they could 'feed an army', or something like that.)
  16. One thing I want to throw out here -- I tend to be sceptical when race is thrown out as a motivating issue. For example, when the whacko from Georgia who thinks she can ignore Capitol security cried racism. But a few things in this case made it sound likely here. And the remark about flaying only reinforces that. It's amazing how sick a subculture can become. It's Lord of the Flies for post-pubes.
  17. This one's important, listen up: jackie hayes? Dude.
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) if I were going to be critical in any way, it would be that it's kinda egg shaped and the curves or lack of edges make it look more feminine than masculine. Yeah, that's the only criticism I'd have of it. I just have this presumption that substantial men's rings should be square. O/w very nice.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) There are at least 4 Tony's here. I am the best one. There used to be 82,086 Tonys here, but 82,083 of those don't want to be associated with the name anymore.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) gall bladder inny or outy? inny flammable or inflammable
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Now that makes no sense...how can 1 group have a lower instance of breast cancer than your average population while the other group does not have a larger instance of that? If you were to take the entire population and filter out a group that has 40% lower occurence of a disease, the remaining population would have to trend higher. That means the sample was fundamentally biased, IMO. By the way your link is dead. Depends how large the treatment group is. If it's a small fraction, you wouldn't see any large difference. And dammit, that treatment group is far too small. Far, far too small. Kind of tough to convince volunteers for this one, I guess. "In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio..." Excuse me, miss, but you look like a chicken head. Could I have a minute of your time?
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Atleast we've held Hafner at bay thus far. That's a positive. Aaron Boone, that mf.
  23. Ya, gotta say Hunter's not so great, even if he has a good game. I mean, he's a damn good d player, but he's not so great in fantasy. If you lose him, don't sweat it. The rest get too many strikeouts, don't give those up.
  24. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) To all the people calling frank washed up. KISS MY ASS! What a BOMB! But that's all he's ever been able to do. Worthless pos.
