Reds acquire Bronson Arroyo for Wily Mo Pena
jackie hayes replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
Nice trade for the Reds. Harang, Claussen, and Arroyo -- it's a start. If they could just spin the planet backwards and unsign Eric Milton, they'd make some real progress. -
If you could just change yr icon to a little Dusty saying "Just one more inning, you'll be fine" -- you'd be all set to go.

Anyone wants to trade up (to 13, Ravens), pm me with an offer. -
Oswalt + Peavy + Hernandez, that had to take an investment. Good pitching, agree w/ ZS on the hitting side. Mauer (I think?), Pujols, and Bay are a great base, but some ?s among the others.

A lot of people were. valponick's just sore cuz he got Prior.

Bears interested in Ramsey
jackie hayes replied to southsideirish's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Also posted in the rumors thread, but, hey... Ramsey to the Jets, for only a 6th round pick. Awright. -

From the OUCH!!!!! thread, about a guy throwing knives, and one sword, at police. Critic empathizes w/ the police: QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Question - if a knife and a dick are flying at you at the same time, which do you duck away from? -
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) Is this sarcasm? Do I really have to explain the fact that it might make it more difficult for him to get his shoulder loosened up in order to swing? Also, just because it's a strain, it doesn't mean he's picking up a bat today and facing live pitching. Sounds like they hope to have him ready by the end of the wk, which would probably allow him to be ready for Opening Day. In the answering a question with a question department: Do I really have to answer this? Yes, it was. How outlandish do I have to be to make it obvious? Edit: Then again, since the leap from 'miss opening day' to 'arm will fall off' was already made here seriously, maybe I should have just used green...
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) Lets see.....he has a strained muscle that's making it difficult for him to swing the bat. He hasn't gotten a lot of reps in ST so far. Given that's it will be freezing in Chicago the opening week. I'm just not that sure we're going to rush him back for opening week. BTW, I'm happy to hear it's only a strain. So now you're saying he'll freeze to death. It never ends...

fathom said he'd miss one game. Yeah, that's serious. Where should I send the flowers?
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) LOL. You are sitting there talking about how serious it might or might not be. And my post said that our staff believes it is not serious. I know, what a joke, right? Myself, when I know everything's definitely a-ok, I love to make contingency plans and talk about Plan B and fly in experts. I only do that stuff when I know it's totally unnecessary. Otherwise, where's the fun?

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) HUH?!? Where is SD mentioned? Wierd. :banghead The...post...you...quoted....
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 03:36 AM) You think? Brees is damn good. This frees them up to get Mario Williams. Brees is a proven QB. Leinhart may be good and better than Brees, but he has proven nothing at the NFL level. I think this is a great signing by NO. Mario Williams is going to be a big time player. If SD gets Williams, that would be a coup.
-
Yeah, what were we thinking. We should have seen into the future, like you did days after it happened. Tell us, swami, what will happen 5 days from now. Just tell us 6 days from now.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) I meant the reporters would get it from them. They wouldn't volunteer the info. They would certainly have no reason to hide it. This isn't football. The team doesn't know. That's why they're getting the MRI. But there's no reason for the team to let this slip, to get everyone worried, until they KNOW something's wrong -- doesn't mean they don't suspect something's wrong. Pods doesn't sound too good if he can't swing at the very start of the season.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) LOL. There has been nothing in any article to suggest that he will miss opening day. If that thought was in the mind of the team you can bet that they would have mentioned it in the article. B/c teams love mentioning all the health problems their players are having...
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) Considering he went from saying everything is fine to saying he can't get the bat through the zone, it doesn't sound like things are improving at all. I know you're the most optimistic person on the face of this Earth, but this isn't what I would describe as great news. But he's confident it's just the muscle -- it must not be a big deal.

97.4% when I signed up. Thanks, Balta. -
They may like him at FG, but that doesn't mean Stewie does. C'mon, Stewie flew across the country to smack the guy. THAT WAS NOT FUNNY!!! I know, I know -- I have the season 3 dvds. Just kidding around.
-
QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) So it appears that w/o Dustin - our bullpen might have two rookies (Lopez & Logan) and one almost-rookie (McCarthy). does this scare anyone else? Lopez is not a rookie. He's sucked for a few years already.
-
I'm sure Stewie is devastated.

Scott Wright on his current nfldraftcountdown.com mock: Those aren't meant as ridiculing lols, cuz I think pretty much everyone thought the same thing (and I like nfldraftcountdown, so...). It's just so damn funny how hard everyone tries to figure this stuff out when it's this much up in the air.
