QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) I don't post on Soxtalk to gain credibility in the internet world. Frankly, if we're judging pure knowledge of every fascet of baseball, only a handful of people on this site are qualified. See, you just keep adding letters to words, so now you've lost even more credibility. If you can't spell a simple gemological word like "facet", why would anyone believe your evaluations of the jewels of our minor league system? It's amusing. You little, little man.

NFL Off-Season Rumor Mill

According to profootballtalk.com, there's an extra hitch in Hutchinson's offer sheet with the Vikings. If Hutchinson is at any point not the highest paid player on the team, the entire contract is guaranteed. Because Walter Jones is earning more than the contract calls for in the first year, the entire $49 million would be guaranteed the moment Seattle matches. If true, yikes. Say hello to the Vike's new guard. -

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) They are paying DeShaun Foster $5 million a year, I doubt they are gonna draft a RB in round one to pay him the same if not more money.. Dunn was a pro bowler, they have bigger needs in the secondary before they need to burn a #1 on a RB.. I expect them to take Michael Huff if hes there at 15 Carolina's at the bottom of the first round, though, so it won't be that expensive. I think you're right about Atl, I doubt they go that way. I just wouldn't rule it out. -

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) I dont see the Panthers or Falcons taking a RB, but its possible for the others.. Just b/c there are bigger needs? DeShaun Foster and Nick Goings don't inspire a ton of confidence, and Warrick Dunn, as good as he's been, can't literally be ageless. Duckett scores, but he can't gain any yards. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) Minnesota would take one of them. The other could end up falling into someone's lap like Indy or even Pittsburgh. I doubt they fall that far. And I don't understand why Minny would take a rb in the first round. They just signed Chester Taylor and annointed him as the starter, plus they have Moore and Fason, and Onterrio Smith if they want him. Noone outstanding, but still pretty deep. Meanwhile, they could use defensive help, even moreso now, with Williams leaving. A rb just isn't enough of a need. I'd say the most likely are -- Browns, Eagles, Falcons, Pats, Panthers, Jaguars. I don't think there's any chance they'll slip past the last 2 to Indy or Pitt. But who knows. -

The Ravens sign Jamal Lewis to a 3-year contract. So w/ the Cards getting Edge and the Ravens signing Lewis and Anderson, who's gonna take White and Williams? -

Hey, wow, is this the real T R U posting here? Aw, cool, it's always great to see a real player like yrself on the site. I wish you success, man, for the team's sake, I'm just saying, you post like a girl. -
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:09 AM) His name's Eugene Pontecorvo, he's been around for a bit now. I heard about a year ago in an e-mail he sent in reply to fan mail saying he was going to have a big first episode. That was dead on. Fine, he had one big episode. But the real test is whether he can follow it up with another.

Take it fwiw, but there's a rumor going around that an agreement has been reached to bring T R U back to the team. If true, it's another dumb move. There are at least 20 rookies who could outpost his ass w/o breaking a sweat... -
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:06 AM) What could happen is that.... everything that happens from this time on is part of tony's coma etc... it would suck, but it could be whats what. You really think the Sopranos are so dumb they'd pull a Dallas? No way.

Redskins Sign Randle El

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) I hate Dan Snyder and the Redskins. You guys feel the same way now? Just think if a new CBA wasn't reached, this may not hav happened, as the Skins may not have had the cap-room to do this. I was hoping the talks would fall apart. I figure they would have worked something out in the next year anyway, and I would have loved to watch the Redskins wet themselves in the meantime. -
Gustavo Molina? Is he related? Please tell me he is. Edit: Damn, he's not. But for future reference, what say we put it in the contract of all minor league catchers that they must legally change their name to Molina?

Hutchinson signs big offer sheet with Vikings. Link. $49 mil over 7 years, $16 mil guaranteed. Big cap hit the first year to prevent the Seahawks from matching. Will they match? -

Dumb question, I imagine, I'm just a bit confused on this: Why would an NFL player want an extra year? Without guaranteed contracts, what's the advantage? Is all this "6th year" talk just code for a bigger bonus? -
At some point, I'd guess, but not necessarily 1st round.

Link. Registration required, of course. This is some interesting s***. Here's the scheme: Ovation Pharm buys a low demand drug from a major pharm company, then raises the price tenfold. Even though the product is old enough that it's off patent, it's sold to such a small market that no other company is willing to set up a production line. Ovation itself doesn't produce the drug, it just buys the product from the more established company (which already has the production line set up) and marks it up BIG. So Ovation increases the price TENFOLD, and the established company can claim that they aren't setting the price (after they get paid by Ovation for handing over the rights.) Ovation's doing it! What about the market here? I tend to defend free, private markets, but this is one example where I'd like to see the government take on a big role. Anyone disagree? What would be another solution to this scumminess?

He's decent, but I don't think he's better than Onterrio Smith. A sober Onterrio Smith, anyway. Thing is, the Vikings usually don't have a "starting" rb. I wonder if they'll try to use Taylor that way, or if he'll just be part of the usual commitee. I'm very curious to see what the terms of the deal are.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) I sure as hell hope someone not named Chicago offers up a ridiculous contract cause I don't want him. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) Supposedly Dan Snyder has ARE, Archuleta, Andre Carter, and Lloyd in his suite at the Wizards game tonight with intentions to sign all of them. Not sure how credible the source is, but we will see. Ask and ye shall receive, I guess. Reasonableness seems to offend Dan Snyder. -

Fwiw, an article I read this morning (probably on ESPN, but I don't remember) said the Redskins were aiming at BOTH Randle El and Lloyd. And I've heard that Randle El is the #1 target. Again, lots of misinformation is out there, take it fwiw.
