  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) These people DO have home... Therefor going to jail... Do they have Strunk and White? (j/k man, I need some cheap laughs tonight.)

    Healthy Beer

    Aw, where the hell is Jim when you need him? Doctor's orders! I was gonna ask if "bioavailability" is really a word, but the internet tells me it is. And I trust electrons!
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) He cannot be traded because he would have to go through waivers. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) No because there is a zero percent chance he'd make it through waivers. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Not a chance. He's on the 40 man, and thus would have to clear waivers prior to being traded, and there's no chance Brian Anderson clears waivers. Are you telling me he'd have to go through waivers? Huh... (Sad thing is, it'll be posted many, many more times, and still some posters won't be clear about it.)
  4. Lord, I wish they'd just introduce standard rookie contracts, like the NBA has. All this hell over a million bucks, give or take, maybe 7-8% of the total guarantee. What a waste.
  5. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) You dont know anything, I MEAN ANYTHING, about Football. That is the most ignorant statement regarding Football I've ever read. He meant that rb is not very important for the Bears, b/c they already have Jones. I don't agree w/ it (I was maybe the only person on the board who thought Benson would be the best pick for Bears) -- but it's been said by a lot of people, many obviously knowing quite a bit about football. You need to calm down, you're just flipping out today.
  6. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) this was also from neyers chat. Another Neyer quote, lifted off an Astros board: I know, it's still just a rumor. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) Thanks jackie. Just trying to help a good cause.
  8. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Steff.... do not know what you are talking about, where i ever said anything about Levine's a liar or Griffey never on waivers this is news to me, think you are getting a little confused and completely hysterical as you would say! Not that she can't (or won't) say this herself, but just in case she's given up on this forum -- she wasn't talking about you.
  9. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Can you explain why? I thought anybody on the 40-man roster is forced to clear waivers after July 31? They do, you're right, move on. There's nothing to see here.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) I can not believe you guys are doubting the power of the "secret handshake".. :rolly Well played.
  11. Finally disillusioned, I dropped him from my fantasy team a week or so back. So if he keeps it up, just know you have me to thank.
  12. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) http://olympics.reuters.com/news/newsArtic...SOPRANOS-DC.XML more at link Pleeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) You can look at the negative side and say we need to score more than 2 runs a game to beat the Yanks. .... I say look at the positive side. Without Everett, our offense seems pathetic. But we've won 3 of 5 scoring 2, 4, 3, 2, and 2 runs. I'd say that's the Sox team that started out the year on fire. Pitching, defense, and just enough O to win the game. GO SOX! What's sad is that Everett is presented as the key to a good offense. I thought he'd have a good year, but so far -- not really. I'd love to believe that the pitching can just choose to give up 3 runs one game, 2 runs another, just by really trying. But then I'd have to believe they're just being lazy when we lose a 2-1 game. We've had extraordinary pitching this year. But s*** happens against teams like the Red Sox. We need to score runs, more than 2.
  14. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) Dated a Nebraskan. His family (mostly mom) hated me, mother would do rosaries anytime she saw me, occassionally throwing me a nasty glance before or after she would dive in. And he was kind of spinless and boring. And he refused to listen to anything but crappy smooth jazz anytime we went for a car ride. And he wore leather gloves while drive Autumn through Spring. Okay... You claim that you're prettier than Britney. And you date a guy who listens to SMOOTH F'N JAZZ. In NEBRASKA. (Got nothing against country here -- wouldn't someone in Nebraska kick this guy's ass?) It doesn't add up. (Ie, the LLN just failed to work.)
  15. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) The Sox have met my preseason predicition of 71 victories. Now there's some humility for ya. And from Antonio Osuna, nonetheless.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) If you turn the channel to multiple news channels all at the same time and the same story is on, then there has to be a reason. Unless there was some piece of breaking news on the case at the time, I don't believe that there were no other options. It just doesn't make sense. Not necessarily a good reason. Could be just that they're picking up at the same time some worthless press release or got wind of an investigation of some site at the same time. Okay, so Nuke went overboard. Isn't that his job here? Whenever I read his posts I mentally cut the outrage down by, oh, 50% or so. But his basic point is the same good one that Dawn Turner Trice made a while back. Pretty white girls get coverage. While that might sell, news organizations like to believe that they have an instinct and purpose that in some sense rises above the market. Imo, it's worthwhile to rant about the hypocrisy of this claim when an adult who makes a bad decision (it seems) gets months of daily national coverage, while hundreds of abducted kids get, maybe, a couple spots on the local news. Where's Carol Marin's broadcast again?
  17. Far, far away by Wilco. The verse about the "Kiss & ride on the CTA" always grabs me.

    Ancient Rome..

    It was built in a day. By Mayor Daley. And if you don't like it, you can kiss his ass. 'This is Rome. This is America.'
  19. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) Hey, Steff's benefit of the doubt on soxtalk is almost as good as immunity.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Smart ass... Steff likes you.... Lucky!
  21. I'm one of the few remaining PK supporters, but even I thought "Sultan of Slow" was pretty damn funny.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) His ERA has been like 6, though. I'm just afraid that he's been worked too much, and that it'll keep on affecting the way he pitches. I'm also not too sure about his psyche. I'm excited, there's no doubt about that. I'm also worried that some bad things might happen and screw it all up. Well yeah, of course. I'm worried about that too. Until you look like the 1926 Yankees, you're gonna worry about that. And even then... But a 6 era in 6 ip, that could very well just be bad luck. Politte has earned the confidence of the manager and the fans, imo. And I was somewhat sceptical of him before. 11th inning, baybee.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) It was a legitimate question, so you don't have to be a smartass about it. In his last 6 appearances, his ERA is near 6. At the beginning of the season, I don't remember anyone suggesting that we'd be this dominant. I recall quite a few predictions that we have a good team, but that it would be a very close race, with some bad stretches, but hopefully we'd pull it out and I think we will. Now if Politte sports anything over a 3 era in any span, there's a crisis. I still think Politte's overperforming. But we have a pretty good chance this year, even w/o a single trade, just b/c we CAN dominate, and that's pretty rare. Noone always DOES. And the despair is just ridiculous on any team that's been as good as this one. Even fathom has said that he's pretty psyched, and I didn't believe anyone could be more negative than fathom. Until this year. Milkman, I think you're a good poster, I've said that explicitly before. I just think all this 'futility' talk is more than ridiculous. Six outings for a (more-or-less) 1-inning pitcher is nothing meaningful.
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Is anybody else getting worried about Politte? He's not been good at all recently. He's done. So are the Sox. They aren't on pace to win 120. It's over.
