3E8 in the 6/1 postgame thread. First on the Book of Dusty... QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) No his philosophy is you must throw over 130 pitches if you have arm troubles because that's the only way people of the sun will get stronger. It's science. ...then a suggestion in case Kevin Walker's looking for a mantra... QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) Note to Walker: Win or try dying. It's mean, but it's funny!

QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 31, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) When did they clarify this? Because all this morning they were playing the clip and Tom Shaer kept on saying that is why they didn't use Dustin Hermanson to close the game yesterday. I am not doubting you, but where did you hear this clarified at? I don't know if they did. But if you listen to the quote in context (in the postgame yesterday), it's clear that Ozzie was only talking about Frank and Herm Schneider. Later in the postgame, a reporter asked about his use of the bullpen late, and he didn't say a thing about Hermanson being hurt. If you have Gameday Audio, you can listen to the archive -- Ozzie's press conference starts around 3:48 (??? -- something :48, anyway) in the audio, iirc. I said yesterday in the post-game thread that Ozzie was saying Hermanson was hurt, so at least some of the misinformation on the board is my fault. And I issued my retraction after listening to it more closely last night, but I still feel bad for putting it out there in the first place. Apologies, everyone.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 31, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I know this was kinda touched on in other threads, but what's the truth about Hermy in yesterday's game? I heard Ozzie say that after warming up, he wasn't ready to go because he felt 'tight'. This seems rare to me, is it a cause for concern? Anyone have an update? I misheard it the same way. He was talking about Frank, and "Hermy" was Herm Schneider saying that Frank was too tight to keep playing. Hermanson's fine.
-
Hermanson's fine, I f***ed up, can't everyone just do the chair-beatin' icon and get this over w/?
-
The stuff about Hermanson, I totally misheard that. Like I said, I wasn't listening very close, I heard Ozzie talking about "Hermy" telling him something was tight, and I just thought Hermanson. I totally forgot about Herm Schneider. Sorry, all. Me

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 30, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Hermanson couldn't go today, but whatever why let facts get in the way. QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) That's bad news about Hermanson. He's had some minor health problems so far this year. I would be shocked if he doesn't spend some time on the DL sometime this year. Hopefully he's ok though.....we need him. Can anyone confirm what I heard? B/c I haven't heard anything more about it, so I'm really thinking that I probably just misheard this... (If so...eep...sorry....here's the chair, do yr business....)

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 30, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) WHAT?!? Expand please. If that's true why the f*** was he warming up for two innings? Hopefully I was hearing it right, I'm never totally sure. I also wasn't listening too close. He said something to the effect that Hermy said he was feeling tight, after warming at some point today he said he couldn't go. (I think -- anyone who heard this, feel free to correct me.)

Ozzie saying Hermanson said he couldn't go today...

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 30, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) I thought that was a bogus rumor? They agreed today. MLB.com link.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 30, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Please no one make an excuse for ozzie whether you saw the game today or not. It cannot really get much worse than what we all witnessed today. I really hope he is not resigned ( even though he will be) because like someone said earlier, he is by far the worst x and o's manager in baseball. He already has been re-signed, qwerty....

Why you guys ripping on Ozzie? Jeff Torborg said he's one of the smartest baseball men he's ever met, and that says something about Torborg.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 30, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) you guys turning on each other means everyone is frustrated with the team. The offense sux right now, if you don't see that, you're trying not to see it. Everyone's upset, just calm down and discuss it in the threads.

QUOTE(rangercal @ May 28, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Well if zambrano keeps his computer habits going (maybe sending love emails to Kyle farnsworth at match.com) he may miss us too Lol, nice way to combine the 2 stories. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 28, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) They may keep Dumpster as their closer and replace Wellemeyer with Wood when he's temporarily healthy. An obvious oversight. Type more carefully, now. -

The ESPN story. As someone pointed out, it does help the Sox, but I can't say I'm very happy about it, given the way it happened. Is ptatc around? Does anyone know what this could mean -- minimum/maximum recovery time, something like that? -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 28, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) When did anyone say he was the scapegoat? I have a much bigger problem with the approach that Everett, Rowand, and even AJP and Pods have right now at the plate. PK and Dye still have crappy AB, but they're putting up the power numbers that are expected of them right now. Don't even get me started on Crede and Uribe though. Gee, I don't think 'making someone the scapegoat' means saying 'Hey you, you're the scapegoat.' People were heaping blame on a player who wasn't doing as badly, that's scapegoating. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) You mean the bunt hit that should have been an error on the pitcher? Dunno, didn't see it, I came late and just read "bunt hit". But w/ everyone hitting like s***, with a lineup full of .230 hitters, I think it's interesting that the scapegoat is a guy who's hitting close to .280 and at least got on base, in a way that most people here would cheer loudly if it were some other players. -

Oops, I'd gotten used to those late...LA?....starts. Looks like I missed all the fun. It is frightening, looking down the avg column in the Gameday lineup. I keep believing they're gonna turn it around, but how long can it take? Well that's 1, anyways. PK! -
I am going to see Balitmore Vs. Sox
jackie hayes replied to drowninginflame's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A lot depends on where you'll be staying, how long you'll be there, if you'll have a car, etc. So more details would help. Recommendations for what? The Inner Harbor is the city's tourist trap, which isn't entirely a bad thing. Restaurants are okay, but it's kind of the same old same old -- except they serve crab cakes. Little Italy and Fells Point are both pretty close, there are some good restaurants/bars there. If you have a car, then you could go to Matthew's Pizzeria (Patterson Park area) or the Brewer's Art (Mt Vernon -- upstairs restaurant is pricey, bar downstairs is good barfood, beers, best fries in Baltimore), both of which I love. Mt Vernon is a nice, very old area in mid-Baltimore. Worth a visit if you have free time. -

I gotta say -- I still get a kick outta the rally monkey. Well, when they aren't playing the Sox, at least. -
Okay... This doesn't really exonerate Newsweek. They used one source who wasn't sure what he saw. If it's true, so what? Btw, were these documents that he had access to, anyway? These are FBI docs, wasn't he looking at Army docs?

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 25, 2005 -> 04:55 AM) DUDE whoever expelled me is bulls***....its not a derogatory term its short for Japanese....he is Japanese isnt he.....I am freakin pissed..... Cruddy is derogatory...its belittling him........Jap is short for his nationality......i just dont get it Relax, it was a 10-second 'expulsion' or something like that, noone was trying to get rid of you. (Obviously I didn't do it, I'm just saying, it's not a big deal.) I made an issue of the word, but I believe you when you say that you're just using it as a shorthand. A lot of people (I've found out) don't know that it's offensive. But many people will be offended by the word. (It's not just a short version of "Japanese".) And it's not that much more trouble typing out "Japanese" in full. Fwiw, this is nothing personal whatsoever. All of your posts that I remember I've enjoyed, they've been funny. I just don't think it's a good idea to alienate anyone by using words carelessly.
