QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) And of course someone would try to mythbust this to see if it was even possible. The linkage, FWIW http://silentrunning.tv/archives/005868.php I just assumed that they meant individual pages, maybe a few at a time... But the choice for the book,

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 17, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) No excuses, pessimists, name me one team in the history of MLB that has never went through ups and downs. The Royals this year. They haven't had an "up" yet. -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Disturbing trend: the past 3 consecutive games the White Sox have scored 6 runs and lost the ballgame...something to keep an eye on. 2 of the last 3, not all 3. -
When the hell do we start worrying about Konerko??

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 04:25 AM) Send down Cotts or Walker and bring up Burke and I would be fine with the move. B/c that's what I was worried about. As I always ask myself before major life decisions, would Jabroni be fine with this move? -

I agree w/ qwerty that you're talking about one REALLY small risk. I mean, it's not like the risk that the game goes so long that Widger has to pitch after using all your pitchers... How many times (over the past 25 years, say), has a team had to use an emergency catcher because of injury to 2 catchers? And anyway, if it were that awful, why would teams ever ph for the catcher in the final inning? -
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 17, 2005 -> 03:51 AM) also, our fans couldn't be more behind konerko. The stadium erupts when he comes up in a clutch situation. You can tell we haven't given up on him and want him to come through so bad. Too bad he dissapoints so much. He still got cheers (a little mixed, of course) during his struggles in 2003. I lose some faith when I still another goddam bad guys' hr thrown back onto the field (too many opportunities to see that too...), but I get some back when I see the crowd come through for PK, who's said all the right things every day in Chicago and taken his struggles on his own shoulders.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2005 -> 03:15 AM) This game showed the little things during a game that we were doing earlier, but we're not now. We didn't hit into many DP earlier in the season, but now we seem to be hitting into them whenever there's RISP now. If Everett just hits a routine flyball, we scored a run during the middle innings. No shock with Ozzie leaving El Duque in about 3 batters too long, which results in Barajas RBI single. Wasn't the whole point of smallball, that it was consistent? That it doesn't take weeks off? Why is it that that's on hold?

QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) I don't care what our record says, we're not a good team right now. Our starting pitching has been less than stellar over last 10 games, and our bullpen has been brutal (besides Cliff and Herm). We have way, way, way too many easy outs in our lineup right now. PK and Everett continue to have terrible ABs with RISP. Here's the thing about the pitching -- we KNEW we'd get this out of Hernandez when we signed him. That's why we got him cheap. I still think it was a good signing, don't get me wrong. But he's our 4th or 5th starter, definitely 5th if durability plays into it. I think we just have to endure this. Really, we won't know much until we work through the rotation one more time. But Lord, the lineup... What's going on guys???

Whadya say... Ugh...

C'mon, don't lose this one guys

QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) Why is that a good thing? Maybe if this is a tough SP, but this is a 1 inning reliever. Jump on a pitch...Pauly is brutal right now. Don't know how you can't say he isn't when he's hitting .190. He is, but abs where you draw a lot of pitches are not brutal. Enough of those, he'll certainly start hitting. Brutal would be striking out on 3-4 pitches.

Whadda mensch.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) How about Pauly hits one of the other 1000 pitches he saw that AB...? Pauly is flat out terrible right now. Brutal... He's not playing well. But drawing out the pitch count is a good thing, not "brutal".

Sutcliffe is calling this? Tadahito and Pods really have been impressive.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Jabroni was definitely saying that Dye should have batted instead of Ozuna. That's a far cry from saying that Ozuna does anything wrong -- something I have never seen. Sorry, the Harris bashing here is ridiculous. People see what they want, even in the past. Lee was a terrible player b/c he got picked off a couple times. Podsednik does it -- how many times in one series? -- 'Thank goodness we finally have an aggressive player.' It works both ways.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) Wrong. I even wanted to see Dead pinch-hitting over Ozuna in the last inning. Uh huh. Didn't Ozuna hustle enuf for you? B/c if I don't get another 'Pablo hustles' thread, how will I form my opinions?
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) Don't you always take on 0-2 too? You ALWAYS take, if you're Willie Harris and just made an out.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) I would have ripped on anyone who swung on a 2-0 count when we need baserunners. It's stupid. It just happened to be Willie, which is no surprise. There is no chance in hell you would rip on O z u n a, even if he swung like Sosa on fb 5 ft over his head. Bull. s***. Good pitch, you swing.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) On a 2-0 count, Willie should be taking at least 2 pitches when we need baserunners. How can you possibly defend that? Yeah, I remember how I was told that 2-0 is always a take count.
-
QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ May 17, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) I'm not a guys who constantly dogs guys, and I'm not saying cut/bench/AAA/f*** Willie. But, it is inexcuseable under any circumstances except a SAC fly that Willie should pull two high flyballs to RF in the same game, no matter what the count or what pitch it was. No one can dispute that in any way. Omg, this is so precious....

Kip, I'm just left wondering if you're trying to say anything w/ this. Just w/ her statements, she's one of the evilest b****es alive today. Honestly, I believe everything you posted, and my opinion of her hasn't changed one f'n bit.

There's got to be someone at NBC wants to see that show die. What shows ARE getting the ratings? Are any sitcoms doing well?

Peter Gammons - Cubs biggest disappointment

Good to see Lamont mentioned for a manager spot. I had no clue what had happened to him. -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 16, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Because the fanbase is small, the product is great and a lot better than the other crap that attracts more viewers, and there always seems to be a threat of cancellation. You're a Sox fan and you don't understand that? I just have a hard time getting excited by tv, I guess. Except for America's Funniest Home Videos, you'd best not be knocking fine television like that! I'm surprised the ratings are still low. That probably doesn't bode well, it seems like everyone knows about it.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ May 16, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) HOw the hell is Will and Grace still on the air? Does anyone watch it anymore? Sometimes. But mostly out of pity. It's crying for a mercy cancelling. Am I the only person in the world who thinks Arrested Development is good, but not revolutionary? I like the show, I watch it sometimes, I laugh. But I don't understand why it inspires such a rabid fanbase.
