  1. And Rodriques Wilson (South Carolina, olb/s) in the 7th rounds out the Bears picks.
  2. Here's an article on Harris from a Louisiana paper: link. I just don't know -- w/ his level of production in college, and the fact that he was a good prospect going into college, doesn't there have to be some other red flag (besides size) for Shazor to drop this far? What's going on?
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Isn't Berlin on the WR depth chart as well? Yes he is -- good point.
  4. Also, I love reading experts talking about these prospects, it makes me feel better that I can't remember anything about them. So far today I've seen a Robert Mathis, wr and Mark Rix, qb.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Could money have been a factor as far as picking Orton over McPherson? Is the NFL draft and signing picks basically, where you go, you'll get that type of money. Or is it more like the baseball draft, where, if you have a crazy enough agent (ehem, Boras), you could get a lot of money no matter where you're picked? There's no rigid slotting, but b/c of the cap-within-a-cap for your draft picks, there's not much leeway. I doubt the choice had anything to do with money, I think the Bears (along with basically the entire NFL) were scared away by his past. I don't know much about him, but from what I've read I'm beginning to like the Orton pick...
  6. Orlovsky goes to the Lions. So much for the rumors that they loved McPherson.
  7. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) You guys do know he ran a 4.7 and has been knocked on his coverage... plus they think he is a little smallish to be a OLB.. thats why he has slipped It's the 5th round, you have to accept some warts. Doesn't matter, we took another wr/track guy. I don't like this strategy.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Hey. Whatever happened to Leon Joe? Didn't even make the team last yr.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) I'd have to think Cleveland looks long and hard at Shazor. He's kind of small for 3-4 lb, and I wonder if Browner may become a better safety. At least, that's what I'm pinning my hopes on...
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) KEEP FALLING SHAZOR fall all the way to 140 you can start this year at OLB That's exactly who I'm thinking about -- but I don't think he lasts. This is all a big tease. Canty goes. Where will Hawthorne's slide end?
  11. Sproles goes off the board to SD. I wouldn't mind if the Bears traded up to the end of the 4th round, before we get to the compensatory picks...
  12. Bears took Kyle Orton in the 4th round. Edit: Anyone who knows, what (if anything) separates Orton from Dan Orlovsky?
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) What time does this s*** start? In about 15 minutes, 10 am ct.
  14. Anyone else concerned that last year's scene plays out again, that there's a run on all the players the Bears are targeting at the top of the 4th?
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) You know, I really see your point. But this team has been so lifeless and playing with no heart for the past 3 or 4 years that I really don't care how it looks to the media. As long as the team plays with an edge and keeps winning, that's what matters. Sure, Ozzie took it to an extreme. OK. The guy got pissed and rightfully so. Ozzie is what Ozzie is and that's what we are going to get from time to time. He doesn't "respond to everything" that way. He responded to Maggot Ordonez blindsiding him in the press when Ordonez should be keeping his mouth shut. Absolutely Maggs should shut up. But if Ozzie really has no control over his emotions -- so that for the umpteenth time he just can't help himself b/c he saw something in the press or didn't like the look he got (Showalter, Maggs, which ump was it last year?) -- then he's not cut out to manage a team. I'm not saying he shouldn't respond to Maggs -- but doing it this way, cursing out someone and threatening them, is just embarrassing. There have been lots of intense managers, guys w/ a chip on their shoulder -- but the only outburst I can think of that compares to Ozzie's is Lee Elia's -- which has made Lee Elia a one-line joke (to everyone but Sox fans, of course). I've been looking around for something just as embarrassing from Lou Piniella, who's got (or had) an edge, if anyone does, and I can't find anything comparable. Ozzie KNOWS this is coming from the press, he can't be so dumb as to be "blindsided".
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Read the whole post. That explains my position. Sorry, I'd rather not have the team follow that example, responding to everything w/ 'Piece of s***, I can f you over good.' Ozzie is one sorry-ass example.
  17. Channing Crowder at the top of the 3rd, to Miami. Jerome Mathis, Ciatrick Fason, Marion Barber, Alex Smith, Chris Henry, Elton Brown still available. That's sounds like a lot of value for the 3rd round. Check that, Smith is gone.
  18. Te, good call. So far Heath Miller is the only te off the board. (Top/middle of the 3rd.)
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) Anyone real good still left on the board? I've switched over to the Sox game for good now. And, where did that Mathis kid go? Apparently, Mathis is still on the board as Oakland picks in the 3rd round. Addy is -- his boy Gore went w/ the first pick of the 3rd.
  20. QUOTE(Be Good @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Rodgers is falling fast He's falling far, not fast. Nothing's fast in the 1st round.
  21. Mike Williams was the clear winner before the draft -- but I think he's picked up even a few more votes after the Benson pick.
  22. I have a problem with it. But apparently Ozzie can do no wrong here. If there ever was any line that a manager shouldn't cross, then Ozzie's crossed it. But all I hear is that it gives the team a spark. So the Sox don't care enough about winning ballgames, they only get energized when junior high bigtalking is used? It's not motivational, it's infantile. Ozzie has no self control, hurray for him!
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:45 AM) I'm glad he reacted the way he did. Lead by example. So let me get this straight -- you want every Sox player to go off like Ozzie did when some slight comes up? Reacting is one thing. KW's response to Mientkewfsiozdngnez about the All-Star Game was great. Clever and pointed. Or how the Bulls responded to Gilbert Arenas's comment about 'dirty players' -- noone popped off calling him a pos ten times. What Ozzie did was throw a hissy fit. He needs to grow up, and I'll be disappointed if this "example" becomes the standard practice on the team.
