This is enough of Ozzie running his mouth, it's the 2nd year straight. I think Ozzie's got to win this year and stop allowing this crap to pour out of his mouth. If he can't do that, I think it's time for him to go. In that sense, I think Steff is right -- I wouldn't fire him immediately, but I hope the clock is ticking.

Dye'll be fine hitting-wise, but he doesn't seem to be as good a hitter as Everett anymore. And Dye's a good rf -- I never said the 2 compared in terms of defense. Still, Everett has been an outfielder most of his career, I don't think he's suddenly lost all ability to play left, the easiest position. Especially not after one single play. Sometimes you sacrifice something in the field for the bat. If you bench Everett after Thomas comes back, or go with a platoon at dh, you're leaving too much talent wasting on the bench, imo.

If Ozzie had limited himself to the comments where he said, 'I make the lineup, not Frank, and I still don't know how we're going to work him in, we'll see what the situation is at that point' (rough summary, I'm not trying to quote) -- this wouldn't be a big deal. Frank knows that, and has said as much in other interviews (when he talks about having to sit, and says that the team has "interchangeable parts"). But when he lays into a guy who's been saying all the right things, going off on what an awful teammate he was years ago, especially before last season (that is, when Ozzie wasn't even in the f'n clubhouse) -- then he has gone way over the line, for no other reason than to make a point of how important he is. The only selfish person in all of this is Ozzie. He should stfu, but it's clear by now that it'll never happen.

And maybe, just maybe should not have tried to embarass one of his best hitters in the press.
