Wow Joe De Sa, he was the first white so baseball card i eever got, 1986 Topps. He died in a traffice accident in the 85-86 off season didn't he? I liked Craig Wilson (from Leyden High School), the Deacon, the Pope, Little Hurt, Paco Martin, Milkman, and Greg Norton.

I seem to remember Karim Garcia sucker punching Parque with something in his hand, i think hawk said replays showed there was something metal in his fist. He was sent down before he couyld serve the suspension and i think had to serve it the next year when he was called up by another team. (it was 7 years ago, who knows if i am remembering this correctly!) -

It was voted in the top ten best brawls by ESPN. The newspaper clipping is still hanging on my wall! I would love to get the picture autographed by some of the guys who partcipated, but i do not know how people like butter would feel signing a picture of himself in a headlock -

My dad and i were in the Left Field Blechers. I thought it was going to be a long day when Wendall McGee hit a homer for the tigers. I remeber Tanyon Sturtze threw the second beanball and the hit battsman did not charge (maybe Dean Palmer?) but it was someone from the dugout! I carry the ticket stubb with me all the time and have met three or four other people who also were at that game. It is in the top three games i have ever been to! -
I remember Melido Perez threw a rain shortened No Hitter in 1990 is taht one not counted anymore? Also, is Any Hawkins no hitter counted as a no hitter since he lost and only went 8 innings. I think this may have been 1990 or so as well when the Sox won because of an outfield error or something like that. Sorry for the dumb questions....

I went with people from my girlfriend's work. One was from Germany and had never seen baseball before except in the movies. I was interesting because i told him we had to get up and scream in the ninth, but could not tell him why until later. I tried to give my two extra tickets away to 4 different people, they are all mad they did not take me up on that offer today!

MARK BUEHRLE HAS PITCHED A NO-HITTER!

This was the second greatest game i have ever seen in person, World Series Game 1 being the best! I brought a guy from Germany, it was his first ever baseball game, i told him he saw something that most people wait their whole lives to see! It is like a dream come true, i still can not believe i saw it happen! -
I even hiked from Blackhawk into town, just to get that 20 miler to get the hiking merit badge. It is a great place, i just hope it is around in some sort when i have kids so i can go up with them. It is a shame, most of the troops in my area folded, mine included. Me and a buddy made Eagle, and the court of honor was basically the last meeting we ever had! I ended up with the Pinewood derby track in my garage! Fishing in Big Blue was not so good, but if you went to Lake Wolverine, holy cow, the dam was the best spot, until the Rangers kicked you out!

I made eagle in 1998, did a business attire closthing drive and donated it to Catholic Charities. O wasippe was the best, i hiked all the trails one week. I tried again the next year with the younger guys, but they could not keep up and gave up, so i had a week to just chill in michigan and go fishing! Hopefully the sale of the land to developoers does not go through, the Chicago Area Council seems to be as corrupt as they get.....

My first game was in 1990, it was the promotion where if you made the honor roll or had perfect attendance, you recieved sox tickets! It was against the Cleveland Indians, Bud Black started for the Indians. Sox Lost, i think Scooter Fletcher hit a double. It was a good time, even though the sox did not win a game until my third trip to the old Comiskey( friggin Sosa hit a home run in that game!)

There are some HO Scale Thomas sets out there, decent quality from what i have heard. I am an HO guy myself, people who have called me a nerd my whole life are finally starting to understand it a little! You can get the basic Thomas electric set with track, two coaches, and a poer pack for around 50 dollars at some online retailers!

I love my Jetta, first new car bought it right when the restyled ones came out in May of 05 and already have 30k on it. My dad has an 03 no major issues. BUT - lady frind had a 95, it ran well for like 8 years, then the transmission went out, after a new one was put in, it never ran well again, needed more work than it was worth, she also drove it into an area of freshly poured concrete that was not marked, workers failed to put up any signs. Then her brother totaled it somewhere in Indiana. Those mid nineties Jettas are awful, but they seem to be a little more reliable. I really wanted a Monte Carlo, but i paid 8 grand less for the Jetta, which came with more options (i.e. CD player) Who the hell sells a casette deck standard? Maybe one day i will have that Monte Carlo, but for now, i still like my Jetta!

Jason Tyner is a guy who used to give me hope, an extremely fast outfielder with no power whatsoever! I remember reading that he has never hit a home run in college, the minors, or the pros. I do not know if that has changed, but for a once fast outfielder who could only hit to the opposite field, it always gave me hope (unitil i went to college, became slow, and figured out that if you pull the ball, it really can go far!)!

I saw Craig Wilson hit two home runs in a game against the Red Sox at Fenway! It was 1999 when he hit like .416 in his september call up duty. Always good to see a local kid in the bigs for his hometown team. Also a member of the U.S. National team in 1990 and 1991

Matt Stark was a catcher who came up in 1990 i think, I remember the Deacon Warren Newson hitting a grand slam against the twins and the hitting a pinch solo homer in the 93 ALDS after Radinsky blew up the innning before What about Don Wakamatsu?
-
I had the feeling that there was some not nice feelings between the two. In the beginning of the year, Brian sounded nervous, but as the season wore on, i really enjoyed his show and Chicago Baseball Tonight. The score already is messing things up, and it is a shame.

What was up with todays crowd?
Heartattack19 replied to Whitewashed in '05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This game was the loudest i was at. When Chone Figgins bobbled Carl's squib liner, it went nuts. The only thing that even comes close was when Crede hit the Walkoff Homer against the Indians in the 10th a few weeks ago. Did seem like the Upper Deck was filled with the hardcore fans while the lower bowl was much more reserved -
I was able to go to the game on with my father's company and they brought us down to the field for a photo op. It was Amazing, i never realized how short and perfect the grass actually was! We were able to take a picture with a player, and it was Jeff. I told him i was at soxtalk (mostly lurking) and he was somewhat suprised, he was like "whats your screenname etc..." He apologized for not being on as often as he used to be, but living in the hotel he really doesn't have the internet, he was super nice. The rest of the people in my group were like who is that. He was a great guy. The game was amazing and Jeff has a new big fan!

I always hated Tony Castillo and Jesus Pena. Hawk used to say Pena had a good change, i only remember him giving up bombs. Alan Embree was pretty bad too.
-
Is this the same Jim Bullinger who played for the Cubs in the early 1990's? I still remember his first game, it was a doubleheader, he hit a home run in his first at bat to get the win and then got the save in the second game. What a debut!

Best place to get common baseball cards in my own opinion is www.sportlots.com They start at 18 cents. Type in the players name and it will give you all the different vendors who have that players cards. Be careful to get cards from the same vendor, or shipping gets expensive really quick (I learned the hard way). The only bad thing is that the team name is not shown, so you may accidently get a Don Slaught card on the pirates, but it is easier than getting them anywhere else.

What about Jeremy Lincoln. Every ball thrown his way was pass intereference. If he didnt interfere, his nickname was "toast"

whose the most hated sox pitcher?

The second i saw this thread i thought of Ken Hill. He blew games and seemed to be smiling as he walked off the mound! -
Right now i am reading "Veeck as in Wreck", i wish that it covered his second go round owning the Sox though...
