  1. Bear with me as I figure out the posting issues but I have opened the 2018 PTC. Look for the specific date listed for your post. March 29th is opening day
  2. NEW RULES for scoring: run = 1 Single = 1 RBI =2 HR = 4 2B = 2 3B = 3 SB=1 Walk=1 HBP-1 EXAMPLE: a bases empty home run equals 7 points You can pick a batter only twice in a week (Monday to Sunday)
  3. I didn’t understand any of that technology talk but I am happy
  4. Recovery from this type of injury is good. Six months and he will be back on the field
  5. The job at 2B is Moncada's. At present I would say Yolmer ends up at 3B at best or as the super sub player. Of course things have away of happening in spring training that we don't anticipate
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 07:54 PM) Sign #1 the tank is still on. White Sox fans beware: James Shields is back and ready for Opening Day https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/white-s...pening-day/amp/ I respect all Sox players and really hope Big Game James is a solid performer this year, but when you see Fernando Tatis Jr listed as #9 on the MLBN prospect list that really stings.
  7. QUOTE (JPR @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 12:13 AM) White Sox keep losing these hearings. Are they just being super cheap? Avi might end up in LF or a DH if he doesn't work on his game, like arm strength. Not sure we are talking about the same player here
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 08:49 PM) Cuban corner. I like it. I bet it wil help to keep the young guys focused
  9. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 01:36 AM) This is total and complete nonsense. That's the polite way of putting it. JR WILL NOT SELL, he's said that repeatedly, publicly. He is keeping this team until he is dead then his family will put it up for sale, period. End of discussion. Tax purposes basically prohibit him from selling the club while he is alive. JR is a tax expert, he knows the rules and the loopholes. Why is that so hard for you to understand, honest question...not trying to be snarky. I don't care much for JR myself, but he's bought in on the rebuild and the money WILL BE THERE starting next year. No guarantees they get anybody to sign with them but the offers will be out on the table and they will be aggressive. I think you are correct sir! However, I kind of like the old man
  10. I thought the Rays might move to Las Vegas
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 10:00 PM) Seriously, what's the deal with that. Exactly! The team management brags him up left and right and then squabbles over $235K?
  12. Melky Cabrera? I have read some reports that suggest Matt Davidson was a flop in the second half of the season and thus losing some points with the Sox management? Plus supposedly Mike Moustakas is still being linked to the Pale Hose. But, the option of using young Sox talent at DH
  13. buy a prospect had me confused. Do you mean trade for a prospect? We bought a prospect when we signed Luis Robert at $26M plus. And we have the draft coming up again for prospects
  14. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 11:01 PM) You absolutely can. There are simply things you cannot call your franchise There certainly are some things you shouldn’t call your franchise. But, these Cleveland guys aren’t the Cleveland Wahoos. There are Indian high school teams using “Indians” “Warriors” “Renegades” as logos. I am not offended and their fans and players aren’t either. You might be but that’s you and that’s your deal. I am not offended. But, once again this decision is up to the Cleveland franchise. We all see things differently I guess. Not an issue for me
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 09:47 PM) Just because a small population of Native Americans hasn't specifically mentioned it to you (I'm assuming you're not NA) doesn't mean they aren't offended, nor does it mean it isn't the right thing to do in general. You shouldn’t assume something about me. I was born and raised on an Indian Reservation. You can’t be changing because there is a group saying they are offended because I know many that aren’t. But, regardless that decision was made by the Cleveland franchise and isn’t my business as a Sox fan
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 07:05 PM) Chicago Sun-Times‏Verified account @Suntimes 23m23 minutes ago BREAKING: Indians removing Chief Wahoo logo from uniforms http://bit.ly/2nlPHc0 Political correctness is running amok. I live in Indian Country and have yet to hear much from American Indians on this subject. But, if someone says something folks are afraid to counter for fear of being labeled racist
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 08:59 PM) OK, I opened this can of worms I suppose. For the record, our relationship with the Sox has, overall, been very good. We've been able to interview Rick Hahn, Jeremy Faber (Asst GM), Nick Hostetler (Scouting Director), Marco Paddy (Intl Director), Chris Getz (Dir of Player Dev) and others with the big club. We'd previously been one of just two blogs credentialed to SoxFest (the other was SSS). They've let us into the secure area of the back fields at Camelback. We have been credentialed at every affiliate (though that's more them than the Sox). But in this case, what Scott explained was that it was a problem of time and demand. The number of requests was such that they were afraid that outlets would not get to spend the time they wanted with the players, prospects and coaches during the 45 minute scrum if there were too many press there. So they had to find a way to limit it, and non-traditional media is lowest on the priority list. I don't necessarily agree with the way they did this, just reporting what the Sox told us. And I do get the logic, even if it isn't great. Scott did have effusive praise for FutureSox, FWIW. Sometimes it’s just best to leave well enough alone and move on. Future sox is a great resource but by taking the high road you score a lot of points with the organization
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 04:32 PM) Bring in as many arms as possible. Pretty short on lefty reliever types. I hope Nate is healthy this year. It looks like Petricka and Putnam are not coming back?
  19. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:27 PM) I think the most realistic trade with the Sox and Brewers is a Braun salary dump by the Brewers to clear some payroll space for Darvish. Maybe something like Braun and Hiura or Diaz for Beck and Danish. That’s assuming this rumor is even true
  20. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 11:01 PM) I really believe that Avi will be traded because of this potential arbitration case. I believe you are mistaken. They can settle right up to the arbitration hearing
  21. I am glad he was not claimed off waivers. Not an impressive debut in 2017 but he is young and talented
