  1. All is good in the AL Central. We are tied for first place. Let's strive mightily to win
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 31, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) That was part of the hype around Burdi when he was drafted. "U of L coach Dan McDonnell said Wednesday that he could envision a major league team trying to convert Burdi to a starter because he has an array of pitches." http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sport...afted/85672124/ "One thing that might differentiate the younger Burdi – and make him far more attractive to the Twins – is that some believe he has a chance to start games at the next level. " http://twinsdaily.com/_/minnesota-twins-ne...ack-burdi-r4760 "In addition to an upper-90s fastball, he delivers what Baseball America calls a plus change and a slider that has shown promise. BA rated him 21st among draft-eligible prospects, based in part on the idea that he could potentially be developed as a starter." https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/whit...zack-burdi.html And Hostetler mentioned the possibility of starting him this year when he was drafted: http://m.braves.mlb.com/cws/video/topic/96...-fared-on-day-1 So it didn't materialize out of thin air. Its the fact that he has three MLB quality pitches that makes it an intriguing option. A lot of times guys get moved to the bullpen because they cannot develop that third pitch, since he already has one, it makes the opposite transition an opportunity. I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox use him as a tandem starter this year to build up some innings and leave open the possibility of him being a better weapon out of the bullpen in the future in the way that Miller and Chapman were used in the World Series last season. I think with the depth in starting pitching makes Burdi to the bullpen a lot easier decision. That's good information right there. I can see now why that makes an interesting option, but isn't it true that the Sox and Burdi seem happy with the present course of action?
  3. Chisox are all in this season. I think we certainly can contend
  4. I find it interesting that the idea of making Burdi a starter surfaced. Usually we see posts of wanting our young pitchers to all be relievers. Based on the fact Burdick's success has been in relief I would ask what brought this up?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) He doesn't really have a future in baseball, mostly because he isn't very good. LOL. Then whatever the return we win
  6. Attention Sox fans: The 2017 pick to click is now open. Let's participate with enthusiasm and gusto and help our team win!!!
  7. Let's start the season off right with a Sox win. Make your pick
  8. RULES for scoring 2017: run = 1 Single = 1 RBI =2 HR = 4 2B = 2 3B = 3 SB=1 Walk=1 HBP-1 Minus 1 for a K Minus 1 for being caught stealing subtract number of runners left on base in scoring position with two out ADDED RULE: You can't pick the same player more than two games in a row and the week runs from Monday to Sunday as far as the PTC is concerned
  9. Pete didn't have a future with the Sox. Solid back-up in my opinion but this move gives guys like May and L Garcia and eventually Tilson a chance to show what they have to offer
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 10:56 PM) That may be true, but you realize the article in question is based solely on what scouts have seen from Giolito? I believe it was fake news
  11. I am convinced that many of these sports writers and bloggers don't know anything more about the game then most of us Soxtalk posters
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 10:23 PM) Shields is so bad. Still will never understand how they decided to make that trade Shields had one poor inning. He would have been out of it but we needed Gordon Beckham at 2b to flag down the grounder
  13. Sweet kickoff move to third between Shields and Frazier to nail Marrero
  14. Just seems odd that the Sox organization was getting tons of praise for ALL the prospects we picked up in the two major trades and now we suddenly get some negativity. I bet the writer is a Nats fan
  15. Watching the game. Shields looking good after one
  16. It appears Gonzalez hasn't been sharp this spring and that includes the World Baseball Classic
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:35 PM) Charlotte is going to be a really fun team to watch this year, at least for the first half. With the young talent acquired and that developing in our system I think the future bodes well for the Sox. How long has it been since we could say that?
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 10:56 PM) They could have locked Beckham up after 14 homers and 28 doubles in four months too. Glad they didn't. I think Anderson is a good player though. So they made a mistake not signing Gordon to a long term deal. If they had he would have settled down and produced
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 04:17 AM) I don't think he has ever made it out of A ball and at 24 yrs old is pretty much the definition of filler/non prospect. Maybe this was some form of repayment/favor or Dulin has some connection with some one in the organization . I see you are into conspiracy theories
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 19, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) Guess we can all exhale on Rodon? I think so too. I guess the Sox management has a system after all. Some good hustle today and good hitting
  21. I think Rodon is hurt. He actually gave up a hit in three innings so far
  22. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Mar 18, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) I wonder if they will reassign him to the minors after this game and at what level. He will be at AAA this year as planned
