We have two weeks left and regardless of it's spring training or not I am not real impressed by the 5th or 6th starter possibilities. Position players on the other hand are rally pushing each other

Who do you believe is MOST guilty in the Laroche situation?
elrockinMT replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think you heard it from the owner. Things probably could have been handled better. That's on KW, who has little tact. But I expected nothing less from Reinsdorf not to publicly spabk someone -
Let's get that falling down stuff out of the way now and not during the season

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) Just listened to the Eaton interview. Thought the following two quotes were interesting (as accurate as I can recall them): - with regards to the report that sox players went to KW with complaints "....they (mgmt) are going to throw that out there and see if it sticks" - "we'll see how JR wants to handle his front office" I just think the upper management is going to try and cover for KW as much as they can. I guess I understand that and I am sure they never expected the reaction from Laroche and the team that they got. I think Williams and others had a knee jerk reaction and it backfired on them. I go back to Adam's letter and all he really says is he is "stepping back." Can he be convinced to step back in with the team, or does anyone eve want to try to make this happen? The Sox gain $13M and may have internal options for the DH role. There is so much fire going on here now that something must be done by KW and Reinsdorf to calm the team, especially the vocal leaders, so this doesn't affect the 2016 pennant race. But, will management make that effort? I kind of think Williams is to rigid in his stance of being the big shot and being in control and so I doubt anything will happen other than a lot more of what we have heard already.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) Pitching schedule. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/711212914175127552 I wonder if there are other teams just as leery (paranoid) about major league pitchers facing division opponents and teams they face early in the season? That's a real good question. I guess the Sox have been doing this for awhile, but does it really matter? I am not the resident club expert on the subject so I don't wish to make a comment one way of the other, but it woud be interesting to know a bit more about it.

Good to see Sale facing batters in a real game. Now let the speculation run wild. If he does good I bet we hear how he must have been channeling his anger in showing KW up and if he is bad we will hear that he is disgruntled. I think Laroche should be complemented in his stance on all of this, but I am not sure outright retiring was the thing I would do, but it was his decision and it is done. I doubt anything that transpires now will make a difference in his decision, but who knows. One thing for certain we need to be moving on and winning ball games.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) 1) Kenny said there wasn't. So now someone is lying, but we can't take either for fact. 2) The clause could very well say "Drake LaRoche is welcome in the clubhouse", not "Drake LaRoche has unlimited access to White Sox facilities" Or it could have been a Gentleman's agreement done by a handshake. I know people would be surprised by that possibility, but some folks still think that's a way to do business. If having the youngster in the clubhouse was allowed by Rick Hahn and Robin Ventura then it is none of Kenny Williams business and he should NEVER have interfered. I have to wonder about the comments mad by KW on what he was trying to do. He said this was a case of trying to change things and get people to focus on the task at hand, etc, etc, and what makes this year different then the other dozen plus since KW has been in the management role?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) I was hoping someone would toss this in here. My dad and I talked about how if a player like Pedro Cerrano existed and lived in the clubhouse, would LaRoche be tolerant of his having an altar in his locker? Let's remember the Sox were pretty accommodating of LaRoche when they gave him a faith day that allowed him to bring in a homophobic hate-monger that he pals around with. Or how they gave his kid a locker. To act like the Sox were hating on LaRoche's values is hysterical. Not to be hyper critical of your opinion, but when something like this is posted the question needs to be asked... Can you speak for what Adam Laroche would do or say in that situation?

Amazing how people respond to a fellow who stand up for himself and what he believes in rather than roll over

I just looked at the MLB Trade Rumors site and read todays story about the Adam Laroche issue. Interesting story. Looks as if there was almost (and maybe there was) a full-scale revolt by players against Williams. Chris Sale telling Williams toi get out of the clubhouse and all that good stuff. I think it speaks positive of Laroche that we haven't heard anything from him as far as lashing out against the Org or anything but on the other hand when he said he wanted more time to think things over he specifically mentioned respect for Rick Hahn. I didn't see any comments about KW. Makes you believe also there may have been a gentleman's agreement as far as the son being with Dad and the team. Unless something has been happening lately I see nothing more from Adam Laroche

QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) Or, does he sit on twitter all day and talk trash? What an immature, overpaid idiot. Honestly, he needs to shut up and take care of business. Play ball, that is what he is paid to do. Send Eaton packing with LaRoche. not making a personal insult here, but some might ask the same question of us Soxtalk posters. Except we aren't overpaid

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) If Jimmy Rollins went to KW and moaned, and then said this http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0315-story.html he is not a leader. A leader would cop to what he did and explain it to everyone. This is getting a bit out of hand. We seem to be trying to figure out who said and did what with no actual proof. Rollins gets hammered and the admission is no one said he did or didn't do anything. If this is an Adam Laroche decision let it go at that. I wish the man well and I am sorry he is gone. Time to concentrate on winning the championship now.

I wonder why Williams felt he had to make an issue of this matter? I don't see where any player felt it was a problem. Maybe KW doesn't have much to other then mess with things to show how important he is? Leadership is lacking here. KW can't stand to leave well enough alone. Didthe same thing to Guillen and the coaching staff

I was shocked to hear this news this morning. I had a thought that something was happening with Laroche, but felt it might be the back injury keeping him out longer than expected. I was looking forward to seeing him in action for 2016. Now, as we all do I am sure, I just hope he and his family are ok. Bseball can come second, but I have tremendous respect for a man that handle things the way he is and has done

Last time I heard it was still spring training. You can't hang your hat on games like this

Spring Training Stock Report - Week One
elrockinMT replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thanks for the update. In examining who we think will be the starting 25 and those headed to AAA or AA It certainly appears we have talent. Those assigned to the minors are ready to help when needed and I feel comfortable with them in the organization. Too bad they haven't decided to expand the opening day rosters to 27 -
Jackson becomes the 4tg outfielder unless we have another move in the works. I think Garcia stays no matter what
-
Not new news here at all. Plus I don't see the benefit for the White Sox to give up their top minor league prospects, who are close to contributing at the major league level, for hig priced players with maybe one year or so of control.

Sox Cactus League opener tomorrow

It's a spring training game---- Oh never mind -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 12:49 AM) I'm just glad people are being realistic. Don't you mean fatalistic?
-
I feel faint and ready to give up. By all accounts the season is lost and we haven't even made it through game one of the Spring Training schedule

MLB Network Harold Reynolds thinks the Rollins signing was solid for the Sox. He thinks Rollins can still play and thinks he will be the starting SS for the Sox come opening day. He brought up a good point about Rollins hitting 8th on a NL club. Hitting in front of the pitcher mean you get garbage to hit. Play in the AL with the DH and it will help him rebound from a lackluster NL year. I also believe that Rollings is there to mentor Tim Anderson and probably Saladino as well.
-
Jimmy Rollins can still play. Good move and I am betting he will be the super sub and mentor to both Anderson and Saladino r

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) Eh. Rollins isn't coming here as a back up, I would almost bet on it. He is either a starter, or he will be released. He is on a minor league deal, which means there is nothing at risk right now, and I am sure he has an opt out, or a handshake agreement about playing time. This is asurprise move with the potential for a good return. Rollins has talent and might still have a good year left in the tank
