  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) I am with you. He has barely made a mark in AA, let alone MLB. With an arm like that you give him every chance to start, as the bullpen is always there. If we were a title contending team, maybe then you use him in the pen, but where the Sox are now, there is no good reason for it. It seems every pitcher we have in the system is being tagged as only a relief pitcher. Maybe we can go into the season with 12 or 14 relievers on the roster. I agree let's give our prospects the chance to start and Montas deserves that chance
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) if management thinks he can play 3b, they why not?? It's always a crap shoot for sure. Looking at his past history he has had some real decent years. But, losing a draft choice and spending lots of money just doesn't seem to fit in with the Sox plans going forward. Plus we just haven't had good luck with hitters from the NL signing with us. But, I would then add that we have expected everyday position players to fit in the DH role where they have had no experience
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 51s51 seconds ago Jeff Samardzija has rejected the #WhiteSox qualifying offer. Really had high expectations after the trade with the A's, but the Shark had no teeth. Just a huge disappointment. But, some of the so called baseball experts were not impressed with him and they turned out to be right. It will be interesting to see just what he gets in that $15.8M range he turned down as a QO amount.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) Realistically, Alexei will be our SS next year. I really believe that. MAYBE the Sox could look at Desmond at 3rd, but I don't see us spending big money on a new SS, with bigger holes at 3B and C. I agree that Ramirez will most likely be back at SS for the Sox. Third base is a spot to look at a free agent or trade candidate, but I am not sure Desmond is the guy. Is he someone we have to pay $15M for? If so forget it IMO
  5. Braves apparently resigned AJ Perzynski. With Wieters and AJ both off the market kind of looks as if Flowers stays our main mug behind the plate??
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 02:30 AM) Was the body of the article just "duh" It's a huge weakness. He has no idea what's coming. He's a guess hitter I have read comments from some real good hitters that their approach was to see ball-hit ball. I would suggest that maybe it's as much just having an idea of what pitch is coming at what time based on a pitchers strength and the hitters supposed weakness.
  7. How quickly we give up on talent. Garcia has been injured and last season was really his first full season with us. The hitting coach sees something he can work with and I remember Garcia himself saying he knows he has to improve. Identify what that is, as has apparently been done, and let's see what happens. Everybody talks about a rebuilding and Garcia is also a part of that as any young player might be as they gain experience. I know we all want our players to bat 1.000 with 100 homers, but that isn't going to happen. Let's be a bit more patient and supportive.
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 01:15 AM) Why does a team need two hitting coaches? cause it's real hard to hit a baseball LOL
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) If Tim Anderson is intentionally our opening day SS, it shows that the rebuild is back on. and the rebuild will last for awhile then as well
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 10:54 PM) Typically, no. But the fact they were looking at the candidates they were looking at tells me that they are thinking in a contingency plan kind of way, and not just finding a bench coach. There is no way they are doing this as a back door plan to replace Robin Ventura. The front offie has too much respect for Robin. Now Ventura may have said he will only go another year and resign if it's a losing season. But, you don't pick a potential manager that way. I think folks are reading too much into this move.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Never hurts to bring someone into camp on a minor league deal and invite. I remember attending a Sox game in Seattle with Felix Hernandez against Phil Humber. Carlos Quentin hit a laser homerun to left field off the King. Humber was dueling Hernandez and Sox lost 3-2 when Thonrton blew it with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) I'm sure we can safely rule out Cubs (Rizzo), Dodgers (Gonzalez), Giants (Belt/Posey), Diamondbacks (Goldschmidt), Nats (Zimmerman gets at bats here as the starter), Braves (Freeman unless they plan on dealing him), Brewers (LuCroy gets at bats here along with Lind as starter), Twins (logjam between 1B/3B/DH) and most likely us. I'm thinking either Pirates, Marlins, Mariners or Rockies. Now I would have bet the Dodgers would be in play since they have a large Korean population.
  13. See what happens as it wasn't unexpected. I am more interested is what we can work out with Alexei Ramirez
  14. If they don't already have a gentleman's agreement in place to bring him back for a lower amount for like 2 years at $7M or so then this was simply a bad move by the Sox. We don't have anyone ready to step in and Tim Anderson is at least 1-2 years away from being ready
  15. Do folks really believe we are looking for a bench coach for the 2016 season with the the sole purpose of replacing Robin Ventura? Robin would know this as would the players and coaches. It would be a tremendous insult and why would Ventura want to even come back for the next season, or the Spx mess around like that? The job of the bench coach would be similar to have a right hand next to the manager to deal with the players and assist with moves during the game and after. It us toi make the team better and not to embarrass the manager.
  16. I have no problem with Beckham returning. Look at the prospects we have in the wings and they aren't ready to step in at the major league level. Beckham fills the super sub role quite well IMO. Albers is another one we should consider, but not at a high price.
  17. We already have experts forecasting the end of the 2016 season?
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) Can't say I understand this move. They just wanted to give soxtalk posters something to gripe about. We need more negativity
  19. We have someone in Laroche, who may have been struggling in a down year, but is a gold glove firstbaseman and can hit homers. My instincts tell me he will be coming back with a vengeance in 2016.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Time to drag Ken Macha out of retirement? I want Walt Hriniak
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) I really hope that the White Sox management isn't spending a lot of time worrying about what message board posters have to say about how to run the franchise. That would be the one way I would completely give up on this organization. I am in complete agreement with you on Mark Buerhle. He can still pitch and would be an A+ guy in the clubhouse and around the other pitchers in particular
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Amazing the type of career Juan has had. He is still a capable offensive and defensive player. One of my all time favorite Sox players. I hope he is healthy and can contribute during this series. Go Juan! I always liked Uribe. He always seems to be on the winning side
  23. I would welcome AJ Perzynski back to the team.
  24. I think Sandy Alomar would be a great bench coach. He has a lot of respect out there and experience. However, does he have more loyalty to the Indians then the Sox? He might not be interested in moving back to the Southside. I have no problems with Robin Ventura, but I am sure another losing season won't be tolerated by the front office. Alomar is managerial ready
  25. Eaton being traded; Sale on the block; Quintana being offered around, etc, etc. We will hear a lot of this during the off season . Talk show managers and GM's need to fill up their program. I guess it's what makes being a baseball fan so great. We love speculation like this. But, I talk it all with a grain of salt. Let the rumors begin!
