  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) I don't know about you guys but I'll be rooting for the White Sox today. Go-Go Sox!
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Bonficio is the one who whiffed. Repeatedly. Too bad he coudn't perform. Unforeseen in my opinion. Good glove man but can't do anything else
  3. I have researched the opposition and am not sure they are really a baseball club but let's whack em anyway!
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) Welcome to 4 years ago. The Sox heard the Marlins offer, and told him they couldn't offer him anywhere close to that money. This has been known since it happened. I believe this is exactly what we were told and also Mark was told that he always had a spot with the Sox organization. Yes, I would have liked to have kept him too but Miami was paying out some huge contracts back then. They didn't win and guys got dealt quickly to dump those big money contracts
  5. If any move the Sox have made hasn't worked it's Bonifacio. However, they like is glove still so maybe he can be traded instead of just released./
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 06:33 PM) Quick, trade him for prospects who look good in AA and AAA and can't hit in the majors. I think you are overvaluing, Dick Allen. We might have to throw in the Shark too for that kind of deal
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 1h1 hour ago Nate Jones in Chicago throwing for a small group of White Sox. go get em Nate
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) When the 1st year of your 3 year plan is a failure of such epic proportions things surely have to be reassessed. Now I have said in the past that the contracts given to Melky , LaRoche and Robertson and Duke are all semi short term and within that time period some of the Sox better pitching prospects and the SS Anderson and Micah and Sanchez may be ready to contribute to the Sox. I'm pretty damn sure the front office expected way more than they are getting from the players at this juncture. It was imperative that the team show marked improvement in order for the plan to develop .Without Robertson saving as many games as he has the Sox could be even worse. As many here have stated over the years a good closer on a terrible team is a luxury . It's great you still have hope but that's what your known for around here. But realistically the odds are practically insurmountable for the Sox to overcome. They need to hit way more home runs and extra base hits in order to offset the lack of walks and lousy batting averages and crappy defense and the inconsistency of the bullpen. Houston is in 1st place because they have power up the ying yang to offset those bad batting averages and a bullpen that has been pretty good. The Sox are last in extra base hits and near the bottom in HR's. It's just not going to suddenly appear out of nowhere. They also have no help coming from the minors as far as impact position players go. They have nothing to trade except pitching and some of the core pieces which they probably won't move. It would be beyond stupid at this point for management not to trade Smardzija . Even management knew that in case of disaster he would have to be moved. After all that's what rentals are for if you are not competing and it's time they faced the facts. The Sox are not going anywhere and Shark , LaRoche , Melky and maybe even Robertson may be gone soon if they get offers they think fit their "plan" . The idea of a plan is to give you some guidance. If you panic after a rocky start and abandon the plan then you never get anywhere. I agree we are disappointed with 2015 to this point.
  9. I would assume we have a plan from the front office. It only makes sense. If you look at this site posters seem to think the plan is to go undefeated and win the World Series every year and if we aren't in first place all year long then we start tearing the team apart and somehow start over for the next year. The players we have acquired in the past year or so have proven track records. They have not performed well in 2015. I think we have show signs of improvement and a wild card spot is not out of the question. No doubt we cn improve at some spots and I am betting that is part of the overall plan. You don't panic and abandon the long term plan.
  10. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 11:45 PM) Davidson is hitting in the .230's in AAA. What do you figure that translates to in the majors??? Recently he has been cutting down on his SO but has not hit any homers. Last I saw it looked like his defense was better. He is still a AAA level player but maybe by September he will get another shot. When a player is struggling, being promoted to the majors can really be a problem. Sanchez is a good example. He was really hot in AAA then went into a slump and they called him up in the middle of a slump. He is also a minor league all-star. What does that say?
  11. I say try and resign the Shark. Sale-Smard-Rodon-Quintana and whoever in the #5 slot in 2016. Danks may be the trade bait this year.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) One game you leave in Shark too long. Boom, bye 4-0 lead. Next time you bring in a reliever ... boom, tie game. Can't win for losing. Some folks on this board over-valued Putnam and Petricka that is for sure. They are just bodies. Sometimes they are OK; most of the time their pitches scream "hit me." You can't ovr value a guy giving up 5 homers in 27 innings of relief. It seems lately he gives up a homer to the first batter he faces and that ain't good
  13. John Danks is a competitor. He battles every game. That change up of his is a filthy pitch. But, he has to throw about a ten MPH difference from fastball to change up to make it real effective and I think his arm injury has affected his ability to do that. Control and location are key too. But, continuing to get stronger and working on another pitch can make Danks a real solid starter again. He still shows that ability and last night was proof. But, he has other good games too. I am not sure what the Sox plans are for Danks. He might be the trade bait offered to a team battling for a play off spot. I see him rather then Quintana as likely to be offered. But, if he stays I would not be upset.
