  1. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) New ownership, new GM, new manager, new coaches, new scouts and new minor league director. Mark Cuban or Donald Trump? Which circus act do you prefer? We have a good and committed ownership
  2. The quick fix was last off season as Sox management saw that as a way to get back into contention right away. It has not worked well yet but it still might with some more tweaks. Any rebound will be more than trading one player or tearing this team apart, whichever is your pleasure. I think we keep most of what we have and fine tune. We have talent and it is proven talent for the most part. Look at 2015 as an anomaly so far.
  3. I think relievers being moved is a real possibility. We also have Crain and Jones maybe returning after the break
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) I think there's a real problem contradiction in this idea. If you're holding Alexei through the end of the year and hoping he improves...but you also say "not picking up his option". If you're not picking up his option, there's no reason not to trade the guy and try to turn him into something...anything, that can help this team long term, even a couple million dollars. Two million dollars in today's baseball world is chump change. I think regardless of the end result you have to pick up his option or you have lost a potential good rebounding player, who could bring a good return if you decide to trade him
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) That is exactly what it looks like to me. Something is bothering him on the field. The last time we saw this was with his father in law. Makes more sense than all of sudden he is old
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) See, this is where you are wrong, it isnt about complainers. It is about getting whatever value you can out of a drastically underperforming player in the last year of his contract. What does holding on to him accomplish? The mistakes he is making are worse than a youthful mistakes, he should know and play better. Tim Anderson probably wouldnt come up, i could see them going with beckham or sanchez the rest of the way. Regardless, Alexei's contract and play are both very heavy albatrosses on the white sox this season. This makes all the sense in the world, the Sox arent going to have Alexei at SS next season We will make moves I think but you don't trade just to trade and get some class A player with no mobility. Alexei is having a down year but his past has been pretty strong. Really if you say Ramirez is underperforming so dump him you actually are including 24 other roster players
  7. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 05:13 PM) Remember when people said the Mets were willing to part with Syndergaard in exchange for Alexi You have to make deals that make sense at the time. Even now who replaces Alexei if traded? I do expect the Sox will listen to offers. Now if Tim Anderson is ready or we are willing to put up with a season or two of youthful mistakes ok otherwise wait. But, don't trade just for the sake of some move so complainers can be placated. Heck we could see this team torn apart every year they don't win the world series if you bow to the demands of some rabid fans. One I do think might get offered around is John Danks. But, we know his contratc will be an albatross
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 04:43 AM) And your SS plan? Please don't answer Sanchez and Micah Johnson, or Beckham and Micah/Sanchez up the middle. As of the moment, White Sox at 2.3% chance at wild card, Oakland at 10.3%, Boston at 10.5%. “There might be a change here and there but you have the people you have unless you can move them,” Ventura said. “Those are the facts. Right now we’re going to have to figure out a way for this group to get better...You have to keep them together, keep them pointed in the right direction and there’s an element in here that you don’t want them to cave into it.” “You continue to compete and you have to be able to come out here,” Ventura said. “You practice right, you get the right mentality going and you go play. And there has to be that expectation there. There is a professionalism that goes with it and whether it’s going good or bad, you better be coming out ready to compete.” “I get my point across and these guys know that and there’s moments that are louder than others. There’s moments that are more poignant than others. But in the end, this is professional baseball and there are standards that are there and I’m trying to make sure those are met. And when they’re not, it becomes a tougher conversation with guys. You’re upfront and they know what’s expected.” http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/robin-...&ocid=yahoo \ I might stray with Glad Ventura wasn't hired as the inspirational speaker at his daughter's graduation! I am not sure anyone can give you an answer as your thinking is such that every member of the Sox stink and our minor league system is a non show. I am not happy with Ramirez and his play this year but look at his record with he Sox. If players do their job as a cohesive team you can compete. Not all or any have to be all-star champions
  9. Ken Rosenthal said Sox are out of it but it's tough getting any returns in a trade at this point. He thinks Shark should be dealt. I think we should sign Shark and hold tight for next year and just look at upgrading at catcher and 3B. BUT, I am not giving up on this year and at least a wild card spot
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox 6m6 minutes ago Ventura, on walking Cabrera to put the winning run at 2B in the 10th. "You don't tug on Superman's cape." Love it! Gutsy move by Robin
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) I told you guys all our veteran "name" players will be sought after. Please Sox, dump LaRoche and Melky and Lexi and Robertson and Duke and Shark in a major "do-over" of the past offseason. I'm confident Hahn will get it right this time. Your losing it Greg ole buddy. Listen pardner you need to take a deep breath and step back
  12. This game is on MLB Network so hopefully we show up as a team for the win
  13. We may not be seeing wins but I do believe the offense is showing signs of waking up. I hope that they start hitting on at least 6 of 8 cylinders pretty soon. Defense and running are different animals all together and not good. But, I still feel there is hope. I also think we will see some moves made soon
  14. Game with the Tigers will be broadcast by MLBN on Saturday afternoon. Sure there will be lots of interesting stuff said
  15. QUOTE (DashFan @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) Man, I thought replacing Noesi with Carroll fixed everything... Wake up, Rick. Did Carroll pitch today? NO! Let's be realistic in our insanity
  16. Hopefully we get things moving ahead. Every mistake at this point is just magnified and we have made plenty
  17. You always have to feel good when Sale pitches. I also think the offense has been coming around and hopefully that combo translates to a win
