  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) He's really not a good fielder. Range is extremely limited. Only thing he does good defensively is leverage his shortstop arm on double plays. I think we are watching and talking about two different people
  2. TAKEN FROM CHISOX.COM: Seeking a playoff berth for the first time since 2001, the Mariners have struggled at home, losing more than half of their games at Safeco. They enter Thursday with a 28-31 home record, as opposed to a 31-23 mark on the road. Elias took a 2-1 loss to the Orioles in Baltimore on Friday, but allowed just one earned run in 5 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old Cuban has pitched well since the All-Star break (1-1, 1.69 ERA in three starts), but saw his record fall to 8-9 after the setback to the O's. "I did my job," Elias said. "I went out and pitched like I do every day. I didn't have the luck to win, but that's the way the ball bounces." "I thought Elias was a lot sharper and really competed well," said manager Lloyd McClendon. "That was a hard-fought game and well played on both sides." Elias lost his only prior meeting with the White Sox on July 4, giving up five runs in five innings. Interesting that a Cuban born pitcher goes for Seattle against a Sox line up with at least three Cuban hitters and maybe four if Nieto plays. I think Abreu and Elias are close to the same age and Viciedo too. Maybe they have faced each other before? Game on WGN
  3. I sense a Sox win at Safeco followed by some seafood at Pike's Place
  4. I had planned on being in Seattle for this series but now will settle for TV games
  5. Ramming speed and sink that Mariner's boat. It's on WGN tonite
  6. I believe we have tonight at 8:10 MDT and again on Sunday afternoon at 2:10 PM MDT on WGN as we are out in Seattle. Now if you get Roots Sport NW you can see all four games. I am glad to have WGN for at least to of them and I will watch all four
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) Wait, you think Beckham is a keystone and should stay?? Gordon Beckham is one of the best defensive 2bmen in the AL. Yes he is struggling with the bat, but he isn't afraid to work through his offensive issues. I also think the guy it a tough luck hitter. Now if you don't see the value of a defensive 2Bman then you need to study up on the game some
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) He has talent but he really should be at AA right now if you look at his minor league career. The fact that he plays multiple positions seems like it's been a major reason for 2 different franchises to push him rapidly upwards. Yes sir! But, he is what we have plus Semien and Micah and Sanchez. All 4 are not ready for the bigs yet. I still think Beckham and Ramirez should stay as our keystone combo and one or two of the others as the backup. Maybe that's why they wanted Semien to lay some OF?
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) He's basically Brent Lillibridge with less power I always like Brett Lillibridge. That guy played with heart. He made some very fine defensive plays out there too
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) Terry Bevington was worse. The horror
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) Yep; Evidently no one in the AL put a claim in on him. I don't really get it. He's been extremely effective out of the pen this year and $3.5M next year for him doesn't seem that bad. Based on our LH relief pitching I think Thornton would have been a good choice to take over
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 02:03 AM) Much has been said here recently about the 2014 pitching staff. It needs help next year. Free Agency will be discussed in off season, but you can't count on that as a savior for next year. Even though most of Sox better pitching prospects are in lower minors (W-S on down) there are several at Charlotte and Birminghame who will probably be given serious consideration sometime in 2015. Alphabetically, they include Bassitt, Beck, Blough, Bucciferro, Casey, Fuentes, Recchia, Snodgrass, Vance. The following roster pitchers probably don't figure to be in the mix Belisario, Guerra, Jones, Lindstrom, Paulino, Rienzo, Surkamp, Thompson. I didn't include Rodon, only because he is still at W-S. I don't know where I'm going with this, just looking for some positive comments on Sox pitching next year. Positive Comments? You won't find them here I am afraid
  13. Our big guns (bats) and I believe our Marshal Chris Sale can beat these wannabe cowboys
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 01:33 AM) Is Dunn any good? Funny you ask that question. I guess he is when he hits a homer for us once every 6 games or so
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 11:20 PM) The girl I'm going with tonight is wearing a Beckham t-shirt because her friend said he was hot. SMH. Send me her picture and phone number. She is A-OK in my book
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 1m Avisail Garcia had X-rays and is fine after he was hit by a pitch on Sunday, per Robin Ventura. #WhiteSox That is a relief
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) I can accept the blame for all this. But gamethread, no. Well, not all of it. just a tiny bit. Oh youse guys!. After last night and the night before I have an upset tummy but it's nothing a few dozen Tums and a win won't cure
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) I have a confession to make, last week i went on vacation when i had a 3 game gamethread win streak, and I left it up to Littlehurt and SS2k5 to make a gamethread and continue the streak. They failed. And because they failed, I failed. We all failed. Mostly them, a little bit me, but i failed a little bit. Not nearly as much as them, though. Vacation was fun, though. Go Sox. They should drop and give you twenty
