  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2014 -> 09:07 PM) Since when is Francisco a long reliever? 41 pitches is simply insane for him. This bullpen mgmt of late makes no sense. Might be a sign of how the bullpen is viewed overall. But, Frankie was in there too long
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) Abreu striking out so much of late Do you think it might be just not knowing these pitchers yet? Or just a slump
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2014 -> 09:42 PM) We got him from the Red Sox for Howry, then traded him to the Rangers in the Everett deal. Yes, but I liked the Dinosaur history lessons
  4. I hope we see Noesi continuing to progress in a positive way
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2014 -> 02:01 AM) At the time they acquired him they didn't have anything else. Now they have options. Things changed. I understand your point but my point is we are trying to win games and maybe Garcia and Semien are not the total answer this season. Keppinger was signed because he had the ability to play multiple infield positions and he hit like .300 plus for the Rays. That didn't materialize for the Sox last year. Of course it might not materialize ever. I would not be upset if he gets traded but if he is healthy and can hit I have no issues with him staying and one of the other backup IF'ers goes to AAA
  6. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ May 10, 2014 -> 11:01 PM) Charlotte is a new location. of course you are right
  7. You can't get 2.5 homers I tell you And I didn't even major in math
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) Part of me hopes that he gets an option to AAA. There's definitely talent there. I think he has some talent also. Just needs to figure out location. The bullpen just seems to be a constant work in progress but getting better
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 10, 2014 -> 02:31 PM) If the Sox were of the mind to trade him, his good season should make it more likely that he is traded. Now I don't know that they are of that mind, if for no other reason that they don't have a replacement. Beckham on the other hand is hitting much better and the Sox do have a replacement for him. But the Sox also see the need to field a competitive ML team (thank goodness). And then there is the pen....it's pitching lights out. If the Sox are of the mind to trade, the pen is where several chits may reside. Obviously trades can and will happen but my mindset is you develop your players in hopes they succeed and you win and not be in a perpetual rebuilding/restocking of the farm system mode. It isn't going to hurt our minor league guys to gain more expereince
  10. Didn't he say he has a history of sire ankles? Good he can DH and rest awhile. His legs that is and not his bat as we saw Friday night
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) Keppinger will be on the plane to the first team who isn't asking for cash back for Keppinger. The problem is that he has to play for that to happen. What if he is healthy and productive? We have like two more years of Kepp right? He might be better than Garcia and/or Semien at this point and I do believe Semien has upside. He was injured last year and it makes you wonder how that affected overall performance and his performance in 2014
  12. The question asked was how long does Rienzo last? 5.5 or less? How does a pitcher go 5 1/2 innings? That is six in baseball terms
  13. Hindsight is a remarkable thing. We were trailing 6-4. You use set up guys to get to the point you bring in your closer. If we were tied or had the lead then Lindstrom comes in. There was nothing sinister about the move. Cleto and others have great upsides. He has a good arm and can hit 100 MPH. Problem is oftentimes he doesn't know where the ball is going to go. That is where the work in progress is. Chalk it up to that rebuilding thing we are always talking about The original post was from a couple weeks before but it is still valid after last night. Our bullpen has improved but bad things can still happen from time to time
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 8, 2014 -> 04:25 AM) I need more then 2 games to get back on his side. Interesting because it didn't even take one game for some to be against him. He was on the DL and getting smeared. Now he is back playing and getting his timing and such down and started to hit the ball good and he still gets no love.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 8, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) Doubtful to me that the Sox are considering Semien or Sanchez to be building blocks. Semien is looking at utility role unless pro-career-long K problems get snipped. Semien is most likely the super sub
  16. Maybe we an continue our winning ways with a great PTC right here
  17. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 8, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) Thinking Alexei needs to stay with this team unless they are blown away by an offer at this point He is in his prime and I agree. Alexei is good and it seems as soon as we get someone good the call is to trade him for unknowns
  18. Baseball! Game on WGN and I think it's Hawk and Stoney giving play by play. ESPN was gagga over Abreu last night and we saw some good baseball played by our Sox. Tuesday was good too
  19. We need something to question/gripe/complain/whine about so Beckham leading off is it for tonight.
