If they don't think they can get T-Flow to bat better than the .095 he's been rocking for the past 5-6 weeks, and they don't like Phegley (not much, if any, better offense and awful D), and they think AJ can offer good handling of the pitching staff...I can see it.
-
Well, if you really want a guy who can outhit Flowers, I think AJ can still do that.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) let's just take a quick moment to laugh at this: http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2013/07/10/k...e-for-bargnani/ The whole deal seems plausible until you realize that the Knicks sent picks along, too. When it was in reality a salary dump for TOR, the Knicks sent extra assets as if they had been convinced they were the ones dumping salary and were lucky to get a player like Bargnani in return. That's good stuff. Did anyone think that was a good deal when it was made?

If Melo is really waiting on LBJ, which I'm a little doubtful about but the timing seems to be syncing, the most plausible explanation IMO is that Melo is going to a non-NY team if LBJ goes to CLE, NY if MIA on short deal, non-NY team if MIA on long deal. I can imagine the Knicks selling him on LBJ's availability once they get cap room

That dude's face and neck keep getting bigger and bigger. I thought he was Mark Salas the other day

We might also have to deal with the possibility that the city of Chicago isn't appealing to these guys. It may or may not be the case, but you sure never hear about people being interested in the Bulls just because of the city like you hear with NY/LA/MIA
-
It sounds a whole hell of a lot like CLE at least believes they are in it for LBJ. They're going to feel pretty down if it doesn't work out again

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) The last part would seriously depend on where you go...there are places I wouldn't want to be -- ever -- and places I love to visit, but I always love coming home. That said, my absolute favorite place to travel is right here, the US of A. This entire study, if it can be called that, is a complete matter of perspective (or lack thereof), not to mention opinion. See, that's the thing. You don't even have to come to the conclusion that everywhere or anywhere else is better, you just benefit immensely from the perspective gained -
The best part of the FA frenzy is the hilarious contract given to McBob and the collective BJ he's getting as a supposedly good player. Let's all remember that last year was his best year ever and he scored 8.5 points, 4.8 boards, and 4.3 assists (woo!) on 43% shooting (36% 3PT). Only in the NBA does a guy who has peaked with those numbers, has unexceptional size and athleticism, and has already played for 5 teams get a 4yr/$23M contract

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:46 AM) I haven't had any issue with Google Drive on my mac, and they just released a brand new desktop client. It's only shortcoming is that sharing images are not done in-line, so I couldn't link a picture here on this forum from Google Drive like I can from Dropbox. You can share an image from Drive, but not in-line, such as displaying it ON this forum rather than posting a link to the picture. At least, I don't know of a way to do this on Drive, otherwise I wouldn't even need dropbox anymore. I also have little use for Office these days, Google Docs/Sheets and Apple's iWork offering do practically everything Office does, only leaner (IMO, Office is bloated fatware at this point). I've rarely seen anything on an Office Doc that Gdocs or iWork cannot handle these days, and both are free, while Office still thinks this is 1998 and they can charge for it. I'm in a position where my compatibility needs are such that even if I didn't like Office, I'd have to use it. I'm really pleased with Office 2013, though, so I'm okay with it. '11 for Mac is s***e though, hopefully their upcoming update is better as I think about switching to OS X. I also use the browser-based version of Word a lot when I'm using Linux Mint

When Does Flowers Get Replaced As Everyday Catcher?
Jake replied to Feeky Magee's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd slowly work in more starts for Nieto. Maybe pick another pitcher whose repertoire he has to master, if that's one of the issues. Get him the right matchups. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) Man you still don't get it. Digiornos doesn't have restaurants. Jesus Christ, I'm sitting here thinking about Giordano's and typing/reading DiGiorno LMFAO

At this point, I feel pretty certain that Leury Garcia would get more strikeouts against MLB hitters than Chris Beck

I wouldn't be able to argue with calling up Phegley, but I have a feeling his horrid D will offset any of the small gains at the plate. I'd rather see Kevan Smith, honestly, but that probably doesn't put him in a position to succeed. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 07:45 PM) I could see Saladino or Sanchez coming up to play 2B since Semien has been struggling so much Danks not doing to good this inning. Have to limit the damage I'd like to see Sanchez come up less because of Semien but because he's a really nice prospect who's hot.
-
Danks's high walk, low strikeout style is going to catch up with him at some point

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 07:18 PM) Beckham sucks against RHP, put Gillaspie 2nd.. He has struggled a bit but is still one of our better hitters this year.. He shouldn't be hitting that low when you have 2 guys in front of him that can't hit and have struggled way worse then Gillaspie As others have said, I think Beckham's status as trade bait is why we don't want to move him out of the 2 spot. Likewise, putting Gillaspie in the 2 spot behind Eaton is a recipe for disaster because it guarantees that Gillaspie sees LHP late in games and he is awful against lefties
-
Gillaspie bats lower because he has struggled lately and you want someone to bat in the middle of all those turds in the bottom of the order. It also doesn't hurt to ensure Abreu bats in the first inning
-
Eaton has been up and down offensively, which isn't super surprising to me as he had limited MLB experience coming into the year. His "injury issues" are completely overblown to me as he's had one stint of missed time for injury and seems to be playing uninhibited otherwise. I wouldn't mind seeing him swipe a few more bags but he hasn't really been excellent at that at other levels. What has completely surprised me is how great he looks defensively. For a guy playing for the first time in many of these parks, he looks awesome out there. I didn't really expect that.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) LMAO, just admit it. You burned your pizza Went there for dinner one night. An hour and fifteen minutes after ordering, the server comes over and explains they just gave our order to a carry out customer. Would we like theirs? No. We wouldn't. Another hour later, we finally get our pizza and they give us a coupon for a free dessert. Since we wanted to get home before midnight, we didn't take them up on the free dessert.

If you guys are going to get this down on Eaton this quickly, you're just not going to enjoy being a baseball fan

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) What online file storage set-up do people recommend? I'm looking for the simple ability to access documents from home, work, coffee shop, etc. These would be mostly Microsoft Office documents with some larger data sets as well. I don't plan on using it for photos, music, or video. I enjoy Drop Box's ease of use, but I do not really want to have to buy extra storage (my current storage needs are about 5-6 GB). I also could use Google Drive or Microsoft One Drive. I am leaning towards One Drive due to the relatively high free storage size, the fact that I am using Windows 7 and 8.1 on my computers, the apparently good file and folder syncing (as several reviews have pointed out), and the fact that my work might be moving to Office 365. I realize I'm probably way behind on this, so any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! I love OneDrive, but I run 8.1 on one of my machines (awesome integration) and use Office a lot. It's perfect for that. Recent updates have made it a lot better. The 1TB I get w/ Office 365 ain't bad, either. Dropbox is nice, but low starting storage and it's outrageously expensive in the current cloud market. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) You know how pro Google I am, and even I use Google Drive. I used Microsoft's for a while, but ... nobody else in this dimension uses it. Yes, I realize they tout like 5000000 million users, but I've never met a single person that uses it, so it's obvious those people live in a separate dimension. As for space requirements, don't worry, the space war will end up with everyone getting more free space from all of these services. I quit using Google Drive because of their horrible desktop sync software. Might not be that way on Mac, I'm not sure. I did a fresh install of Windows and had all ~50GB of my Drive files still on the HDD and found out that when reinstalling Google Drive, I had to either delete everything from the cloud and reupload or delete all the files on my HDD and redownload. This is after it refuses to install until I rename the current Google Drive folder, which I can't do without uninstalling Drive, since I can't change the name of the Google Drive folder when Google Drive is installed on the computer. Stupid. I found complaints on their customer forums dating back several years complaining about that exact thing. There's plenty of merit to Google's cloud and browser focus, but I need a desktop service and theirs sucks. It isn't that hard to get right, but they have to care.

Jake replied to caulfield12's topic in The Filibuster
Don't worry, Americans are still very much over-exuberant about the place they live. Far fewer than 78% can choose adequately what to do with their lives, but who would ever want to declare their own, single life one in which they couldn't do what they want? Us humans are good at telling ourselves that we did the right thing. I think if more Americans traveled outside the country we'd be much better off. We don't have to do exactly what the rest of the world does, but it'd be nice if the average person even knew what the rest of the world was up to.
