QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) I did a big research project on McDonalds in college specifically focusing on their overseas operations. This was 10 years ago so it was not anywhere as big as now. And that was a brilliant move on their part- instead of just buying land and plopping down an American McDonalds, they went over to X country and did a lot of research/study groups into what types of food (vegan, lamb, etc) would fit and then tailored the menu around that. There have been some shows on Travel Channel and things like that. It is interesting, the stuff they do. I remember that the Israeli ones had a lot better food than here - not much different menu, really, but it was big helpings of actual meat. They did have funny marketing: "The Big Texas" and "The Big New York" were the main sandwiches. They said people didn't necessarily go there for the same purposes we do (quick, s*** food) it was more like a decent meal from a different country

I wonder what a country like Australia does with such a high minimum wage (around 15 USD)? It's almost like they were the only major economy to not go into recession

I expect Boras to start speaking in riddles like this about his clients

I see this as a job making or breaking move by Hahn. You can have a guy like Dunn bust because it was pretty much unforeseeable. Abreu has such a high degree of risk that giving this contract to him becomes an incredibly pivotal moment for the franchise

I think we have learned from a lot of these marginal teams like TB, Oak, Cle that you can really maximize talent if you know how to get undervalued guys and build platoons. This is something we've always resisted because we like to get players that are considered everyday starters, but getting a higher percentage of roleplayers is becoming the norm it seems, especially when you're seeing a lot of roster turnover like us. Kepp can be really useful for this

I think we'll grow to feel indifferent about Kep over time

Also, I'm loving my other team's receiving corps of B-Marsh, Eric Decker, and Justin Blackmon. Looks nice with my shiny Jamaal Charles who is supposed to see an increase in usage -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) No don't think Puig was hyped at all. I forget what the reason was, perhaps that he never performed in front of American scouts. Dodgers knew something no one else though and offered big money. Puig's character issues were cited as potential weakness, as well as the belief that he needed MiLB seasoning, which he did, though he jumped quicker than people thought

I'm trying to decide who to play/sit: RB1 Arian Foster RB2 MJD Flex Giovani Bernard BN Gronk BN Brandon Jacobs If Gronk plays, he's in at Flex (Tony Gonzalez other TE so you can consider him Flex if you want) Otherwise, not sure how to rank MJD/Bernard/Jacobs. Any of them could plausibly have the best week -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) My sources are telling me that Jose Abreu's first name is Jose. But his bros call him Darry Darry Bonds

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) Can anyone give any extensive details about how the negotiations work? As far as the sealed bid process, etc. It's like any free agent. The sealed bids is just some stunt his agents pulled to find out how much teams are willing to pay

It seems like the evidence still supports us, but you never know

Might as well keep this thread open. Hickory, I'm sorry that it seems like you're going to become a pawn in a partisan dick measuring contest for the foreseeable future. I hope something happens in the intervening weeks to kick the can more than just a few months down the road

I'm always happy to give Gordon a chance, but I'm not so happy to pay him 4-5 million to do it anymore

I'm now 3-3 in the heroes league. Second in points, trailing by just 8. My points against would be good for third most points scored in the league, most points against. In my other league, I'm now 5-1 with those most points. 3rd most points against, though. I need to quit drawing these tough matchups -
I'm fb friends with 3 of you guys, I think. Maybe a couple more. Never met anyone in person

I like how Vick had half a point for about an hour yesterday before they took it back. Not sure what that was about -

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) The death of the RB is really killing fantasy for me this year. I said the same thing last year, but this year is worse. Yeah, I have MJD in one of my leagues and Chris Johnson in another (both are RB2). The commentary on these two players is that they suck, are hardly playable anymore. They are a f***-ton better than any of the FA options out there as well as some of the guys I had picked up as potential backups throughout the season (Michael Bush, Shonn Greene, Ben Tate, Shane Vereen). Trading for Giovani Bernard has given me some depth in one league, but he has hardly outproduced them. I think it is just a shallow position. Might have to re-evaluate what a RB2 looks like. -
Nobody is here to argue that ADA may be the worst baserunner of all that are roughly his speed and level of aggressiveness. We're just saying that speed and aggressiveness makes his value as a baserunner a net positive compared to the average baserunner in MLB. That doesn't mean ADA shouldn't be correcting his easily correctable mistakes and that making those mistakes may be bad for clubhouse culture and a general winning atmosphere. It does mean that he isn't the worst baserunner ever. Just, perhaps, the dumbest.
