    Tony Pena can still field like a shortstop, makes a really tough play to his right look easy
  2. I'm guessing those three new names must not be anything exciting because there hasn't been much/any speculation as to who they are

    4 pitches, 4 swings, strikeout for Avisail against Freddy Garcia. Hit a home run distance foul ball to the right side on the first pitch fastball, then chased three consecutive breaking balls away to strikeout

    These broadcasters from Norfolk are absolutely dreadful. The play by play man sounds half-asleep, muttering through things while there is a very energetic analyst that hardly speaks and has no chemistry with the PBP guy

    Wilkins 2-2, .298 average
  6. I like Webb, but I don't hold any relief prospect in especially high regard. I feel like there is such a low ceiling in terms of what good relievers are worth to your club. If we had someone that was as good at hitting as Crain was at relieving, we'd be in third place
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) I want to say "congrats," but that seems inappropriate. So, good luck! Haha, congrats is fine. I'm really taking this as good news.
  8. I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD. What a weight off of my shoulders. There are so many things that I do (and cannot do) that I have long felt were my character flaws and I am now realizing are explained by this disease and can be controlled with sensible treatment. I'm feeling very impatient about my upcoming appointments with my psychiatrist and counselor, but that's a symptom of ADHD too
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) I guess that's why. boom, you roasted that guy!
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) Flowers? Non-tender candidate? not an arbitration player

    I think that Thornton trade may become quite the theft

    QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) At 24 in low A, is he much of a prospect? And Jacobs with a sac fly. Not really, I'm just bored
  13. I was thinking about this -- which veteran, only two of whom is under contract for that season (Keppinger, Alexei), is the most likely to remain (or return, I suppose) here throughout the 2015 season? These are our offensive players who are past arbitration service time. My vote - Dunn. He has had a resurgence, it seems that other teams no longer value him as highly as they once did, and he blocks nobody in our minor leagues it seems. If we are preparing to have a competitive team in 2015, it may make sense for us to bring/retain our big LH bat in the DH spot. Of course, I think we can all agree that none of these guys are especially likely to be here....but that's not fun. What player and what scenario do you think results in that player staying here?
  14. If you want to have fun, go to baseball-reference and look at Detroit's salary commitments over the next 5 years. It is going to become near impossible for them to add to the team, especially as they have to re-up with Miggy and think about whether to keep VMart, Schezer, Fister, etc
  15. I love how they show him do the right thing and pause to see what happens, but then simply sees it incorrectly
  16. I think this team is on the same plan as the board is. TPSM
  17. I would have liked Iglesias if he was the second best player in the deal
  18. Wow, now that is bad managing by Leyland
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) I think he's got better speed than Garcia and we got Garcia playing CF. It's actually an interesting question as to who is faster. The consensus is that Iglesias is not fast, especially for a MIF. However, how slow does that make him compared to a "fast big guy" like Garcia? Garcia has definitely done a better job of stealing bases in the minor leagues and has a bit lower rate of GDP than Iglesias

    Dunn...

    QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) How do you know that? Unless we're in the Cano hunt, how do you think we're going to add $50-70 million to the payroll next year?
