    Syria

I see no good endings in any scenario. No intervention = ??? deaths, ??? in power We intervene = ??? deaths, extremist muslims in power From my understanding of this situation, we're not going to want either group in power, but Assad's regime may be better. Not to mention the long term effect is more money, more risk of getting sucked into another conflict, and more of a permanent hit on foreign relations in that region.
  2. Can I stream pretty much anything (Hulu, bootleg shiz) via a Chrome tab or what?

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 06:47 PM) For those of you who don't use twitter... The Future Sox twitter tweeted that Nick Parent has failed a drug test for PED. I know everyone loves to talk to about him here so I thought I'd post. Imagine how he would have fared without PEDs. LOL My first guess is that he took jack3d - this seems to be the thing all the recent college guys pop for. It'll be off shelves somewhat soon
  4. Do they still make you do the QB vision or is that not the default setting anymore? I f***ing hated that, I quit playing when it was introduced. Yeah, I know you can turn it off.

Keon Barnum isn't setting the world on fire, but doing what he's doing in low-A at his age and experience level is still pretty impressive
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) I've had a bunch of big hard drives die on me lately. NOOOOO

A cool AMA going on at reddit with a Syrian who cautiously backs Assad as it is still better alternative than extremist Muslim leadership; also thinks that chemical weapons use is "probaly an inside job funded by an outside source"

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) Too bad none of us have lived in Washington. Certainly there are TONS of people who know if she's a full-fledged b**** or not. None of us have sources. If I had to bet big bucks on it, my guess is she is the B word. Can't prove it obviously. I bet there are some people that perceive her as a b**** and some people do not. That's how life works. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) Greg, let's just skip to the important question. Would you hit that? That is, Hilary Clinton. It depends what your definition of "is" is QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Do you really think I would bone Hillary? Thanks for the uncompliment. Uncompliment? The President of the United States boned her! (probably)
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 12:26 PM) I love Bill Watterson, but his dumbass character in the above strip "pursues what makes him happy" and magically creates a family and pays bills after quitting his job and doing stupid s***. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) LOL, I am pretty sure that dumbass is supposed to be Bill I want to make it clear that the cartoon strip is strictly inspired by Watterson's cartoons and his quote - it's a tribute piece, basically, though I am certain that Watterson would agree with the sentiment since he said those words at a commencement.
  10. Also, despite my experience with the broken SLVR, the RZR and related phone line was f***ing awesome. Nobody thinks about them anymore (and for good reason) but the design on those things was baller. I think most of them still look sweet.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 10:52 PM) Going to Coors next week for a game. Anyone been and if so any recommendations (must eats?). My bro lives there, I'll hit him up and see what he's got for you
  12. I broke my Motorola SLVR when it was in my pocket. I squatted down and apparently my pants were too tight because the pressure broke the screen. My dog chewed up a Samsung slide phone I had. I dropped first iPhone on its face and its screen shattered - got a free replacement though because so many of those iPhone 4s were breaking and Apple apparently felt bad.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 08:07 AM) I wouldn't worry too much about it, I've owned many such drives from many different manufacturers and have never had a problem. These high rates of failures you read about make me question how these people are treating their equipment. I'd venture to guess I use this type of stuff more often than most, and like I said, no issues regardless of manufacturer. Keep in mind, I also carry an iPhone around without a case, and have never broken one or scratched one badly, either. I'm just not a clumsy mess. LOL well I am a clumsy mess, but at least the people having these things fail for no reason are less common than it might seem. I'll hedge my bets with the water/drop proof one.
  14. Debating between this: http://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-2-5-In...=A25SITGFW0OQJA which was reviewed favorably here: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-...ble-hard-drive/ but I'm also looking at: http://www.amazon.com/Passport-Portable-Ex...bs_595048_price because it's a little cheaper, but perhaps more vulnerable to damage. And then I'm just generally feeling bad because these things apparently have a high rate of failure
  15. http://zenpencils.com/comic/128-bill-watte...oonists-advice/ -- worth reading in addition to this strip
  16. It is getting much harder to fake an ADHD diagnosis FWIW. Primary care physicians prescribing these things are pretty much the ones making those of us with an actual condition look bad. To get accommodations in college or things like this, you have to take very extensive tests and those would be very difficult to fake. There are algorithms in some of the computerized tests that are designed to detect intentional errors and the rest of the testing, even aptitude testing, is done with a psychologist face-to-face. They can smell bulls***. Also, FWIW, don't jump to the conclusion that X person has a bogus diagnosis. They may not seem that bad because...they are being treated effectively. The untreated ADHD sufferer (there are three types BTW: inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and combined) may not look like someone with an illness, but rather a person that is lazy, uninterested, or just not that smart. As you age, the symptoms change in the way they are manifested. For instance, hyperactivity becomes less obvious and turn into feelings of restlessness. People may get good grades in school but they have to expend much more mental energy (that does not necessarily mean time since these folks will usually have trouble spending a lot of time on anything). I say the above because people with ADHD are often used to being criticized and have low self-esteem due to the symptoms of the disorder. It is very difficult for them to not place blame on themselves for their shortcomings when in many cases it is out of their control. Having people constantly question the legitimacy of their problem only makes them feel worse. A PSA from your friendly neighborhood Adult ADHD poster I'm happy to answer more questions in a thread that isn't about Adam Dunn

  18. My laptop has a USB 3.0 port and the machine I'll be using to do the video editing is the coolest most souped up thing ever, so I'm sure it does too.
  19. Advice needed, fairly quickly: Unbeknownst to me, I enrolled in an advertising class that involves both theory AND practice - in other words, I have to do some video editing. I've been advised to buy a portable external hard drive, in which 500 GB is a "good" amount of space and 1 TB is "plenty." I'm new to this market. Can someone tell me what to be looking for? I want something good, but I don't want to blow any more money than I have to at this point. I'll probably continue to use it beyond this course to back up my computer, which I've always wanted to do anyway.

  21. He has definitely had concerning displays of anger. I'm not alarmed yet
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 06:50 PM) It's not for the stimulant, it's for the increased focus component that works with ADHD. If you have ADHD the drugs decrease the hyperactivity and allow the student to focus. The problem is with people you don't truly have the ADHD it can cause increased hyperactivity (similar to the stimulant) however, it cause many to lose focus and just be hyper. So many try but many also stop because it doesn't help. Yes, I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD and I have found amphetamine drugs to be very soothing for me. "Normal" people would not get this effect in most cases

If drone strikes are your top priority as q voter, you have to realize that Republicans in charge are extremely unlikely to end those policies. You may also feel that Democrats are unlikely to end those policies; you might be right, they might not end those policies (they have been unable and/or unwilling to do so, so far). Since they are, in the pessimistic view, equal on this issue, you move on to the next one on your list. Maybe human rights? Guess I'm voting Democrat.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 07:14 PM) C'est la vie It sucks, but I'm not gonna lose any money over it, so... ehhh. If they decide he doesn't need surgery, what do you do with him? A bit of a gamble, but at least it's the seventh round
