  1. Dayan's conventional (AVG/OBP/SLG) and advanced (wRC+/UZR/UBR/WAR) almost a mirror of last year now.
  2. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) that's not the point...it's a plus add-in. why do you think they're trying to move him...peavy's spot + money. Watching him pitch right now saying "i'd take him...." I think what we're seeing is that Kennedy can turn into some caliber of prospect(s) for the D'Backs so they don't want to just throw him into a deal for us when they can get actual value for him from someone else. In this case, they're going to turn that value into something we want (prospects)
  3. Davidson has demonstrated a far more impressive capacity for plate discipline
  4. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) Honestly don't know why they wouldn't just include Kennedy in the Peavy deal and toss back Lindy... We probably don't want Kennedy at the expense of prospects
  5. Thatta boy Tank! Been looking so good there.
  6. Owings or Davidson PLUS Holmberg would be fine. Throw in another decent prospect and call it a deal.
  7. They spent several minutes talking about how a throw to second would have allowed Bourn to score. The entire defense set up to have throw cut to home because Bourn could have given it a go.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) Another runner advancing to 2nd base that shouldn't have been there due to Viciedo. Jesus, he needs to be either a 1B/DH or traded to another organization. That's two bad plays in consecutive games when he was called out for the exact same thing by Ventura in the game story last night. Just no excuse for that. He might love to show off his arm in left, but he's so often been irresponsible with his lack of fundamental play (not that we haven't seen it from Rios and DeAza, either, it's endemic). They were calling for it to third to prevent the run scoring. What the hell are you talking about?
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) I thought it was a strike Was pretty much center-cut
  10. Rienzo has had unbelievably bad luck today
  11. Missed a call to Swisher there. Horrible.
  12. what a bummer BTW, that error is not bad defense by Alexei...just freaky bad luck
  13. That was an excellently pitched at bat
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:04 PM) But then you see the abortion that is our offense and defense and realize that moves need to happen. Think of it like two teams. One of them needs careful maintenance while the other needs an explosion
  15. Of course, with a pitching staff this good, you are substantially closer than any other team that has this kind of record
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) I noticed Gillaspie was a late scratch. Blockbuster incoming. I thought that was weird too. Both that he was in there and then that he was taken out
  17. QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) Right...it seems like only the ones with connections to the redsox are posting stuff about the Sox willing to come down in their price... Right that's what I said. I gave an example of how non-Red Sox people are saying the opposite
  18. QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) Have the red Sox connections been the only ones to say this? Yes. Olney tweeted a bit ago that GMs are starting to doubt whether we are willing to budge off the asking price
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) Good for Hahn I love that rival GMs are now starting to doubt whether he really is going to come down. If you don't give anything until the last minute, one of two good things can happen: 1. You concede a little, but you're not actually very far from your original price at this point. Compare this to a gradual back and forth where you've been steadily bidding yourself lower. 2. Somebody just meets your asking price because they want to be sure they get the guy. There is a third option, which is that no trade happens.
  20. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 1m White Sox are said to be sticking to high asking price for Peavy. Teams are wondering if they'll get more flexible as deadline nears. Rick sticking to his guns!
  21. I just don't know why the Rangers would stake their season on PK finding his power, contact ability, and health again.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) I wonder if Rick is waiting last minute and if AZ can't find a suitor for Kennedy then he'll pick up some money. So far, it seems to me that he has played this very well. Don't give AZ the easy way out, make them get their own ducks in a row instead of just having us throw money at it
  23. I really doubt Texas is/was serious about this. They want to get better at hitting. They'd just take Rios or Dunn. If money was a factor, they'd go for De Aza Why try to get one of the worst hitters on the worst offense in baseball?
