  1. I know we suck, but I still love watching the White Sox. It won't be bother me any if we win out this year

    Where would you live?

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) Hawaii. Actually had a job prospect based there that went nowhere because the guy wouldn't tell me what the specifics of the job were. If you have to ask, you're not qualified
  3. But why in the f*** would Cruz not take a "plea deal" if he could?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:18 PM) So? That's where he's been all season. He was 89-93 his last 2 starts out, 89-94 the starts before that. A few starts from now, he'll be all the way from 89-85
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:46 PM) If that is what happen, guys like Micah Johnson, Semien, and Sanchez will have nowhere to play. Although Semien has been playing 3B lately Who gives a f*** about those guys? Not trying to be a naysayer, but one in the hand is worth two in the bush. If those guys look like MLB ready players, those are good problems. Don't skip out on a good player because you think a couple 22 year olds in A+ and AA might be ready in a year. I say this as someone that really likes Marcus Semien. Get all the potential MLB guys that you can and figure out the rest later.
  6. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:43 PM) Maybe it's because I'm a Gordon Beckham fan and hope what we have seen from him this year is what we'll get consistently for the future butttt....I'm not a fan of Wong being the offensive player we get back. Yes he's showed more power this year in the minors than Gordo but I think once that wrist fully heals those 2 guys will be pretty much the same player. Martinez and Kelly though I'm intrigued by. I don't necessarily think the Sox need to add pitching at all but it could certainly open up future trades to improve the team. Gordon and Wong are not necessarily competing for the same spot
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) For some reason I am feeling a Marcus Semien trade forthcoming. ...why would we do that?
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:36 PM) Forcing TX to step up . Brilliant ! Why didn't I predict this rumor ? What does Peavy to Oak have to do with Texas? You think that'll make them want Rios more?
  9. We're probably giving them a lot of money in that scenario too. It's definitely not an overpay. We're improving their team dramatically
  10. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) Cards fans seem irate at that idea Good. That would be a good barometer for whether a trade is good or not Soxtalk has never been pleased with a trade at first blush, I don't think. It's what fans do
  11. Yeah, I think I'd be pleased with that deal. The players alone don't make it an amazing deal, but there has to be something said for the cash savings too

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) Yeah, Vancouver is another great city...and Montreal... No poopy French parts!!! I am a big fan of Toronto myself

    Where would you live?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) I'd love to live in SF, but not sure doubling my pay would make that any more feasible than it is now SD possibly...or Malibu...Colorado isn't a bad choice either, Jake LOL California was exactly my thinking behind the "doubling your pay" condition
  14. Let's say your employer comes to you and says: 1. We're going to double your pay 2. We'd like you to change locations 3. You can work anywhere in the USA or Canada, except those poopy French parts Where do you go? I'd imagine some folks will stay put and others will hightail it outta there. I think I'd go to Boulder, CO
  15. ptatc has already said elsewhere that this is the perfect situation for the Sox to stretch him out in terms of pitches per game and innings pitched when the risk of losing a game to do so isn't something we care about
  16. I'm taking the GRE on Monday. I am absolutely positive that we'll trade Peavy while I'm on my way there
  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) I don't think that's crazy at all. They need value regardless of pitcher/hitter. That's definitely true. It certainly seems odd that we are trying for pitching over hitting when all things are equal though (if Gammons is to be believed...and god knows if anyone is to be believed at this point)
  18. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) Started out in the minor leagues at 17 though. 3 years to get to AA doesn't seem that impressive. Your actual age does matter though. The benefit of being young is it gives you more time to adjust before your clock has ticked out
  19. How are they going to call the bullpen now? Smoke signals?
  20. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) The only way that makes sense is if the Sox plan on flipping Quintana or Santiago in the offseason for positional prospects. I just don't buy it. Maybe they've just resigned to the fact that we can't scout/develop position players "f*** it, we just won't allow ANY runs!"
  21. Everyone tells their media that they don't have the money and/or willingness to give up talent for the top guys on the market....but suddenly they always find those things if they want the guy
  22. Well, Peter Gammons did say that we're targeting pitching....as mind boggling as that is
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:21 PM) Cashner's not striking out as many people as in the past and that 5.07 ERA away from Petco raises some questions. But I agree that everyone assumed it was a lopsided trade, but Cashner has some talent. I'm looking at FIP, which likes him quite a bit (3.62 entering the day)
