QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) Phegley is hitting somewhere in the low .200s now. That shouldn't have surprised anybody. Sample size is small though, he's a 2-for-3 performance away from having nice looking numbers. IMHO, Semien was and is a better prospect though.

Does Micah Johnson ever not get 2 hits in a game?
  4. Dayan hit that remarkably well for a ball that nearly hit the ground

    Wilkins sitting out tonight...again
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) It's clear that he was being handled with kid gloves when they knew he was going. Yeah, if you get rid of your bootleg stats like "pitch count" and "innings pitched" and "appearances," you can tell.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 06:04 PM) Koji Uehara pitched 4 innings in two weeks before he was traded to Texas for Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter. We're talking about an appearance difference from the rate Crain was pitching.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Didn't some thread say that Rios wouldn't approve a trade to the Yankees and they're on his no-trade list? Yes (Joel Sherman, of the NY Post reported that) but Rios said that he has not and would not block any trade to the Yankees and is rather upset that people are making it up and reporting it.
  9. PFF thought Izzy was our second best d-lineman, even despite being benched for f***ing Wooton mid-season
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Peter Gammons ‏@pgammo 1m If what GMs say the pricetags on Peavy, Norris, Lee and Santana hold, Wednesday is going to be very quiet. crying
  11. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) thats why the sox should be moving Reed this deadline or offseason for someone like Adam Eaton or Jackie Bradley Jr. if the bosox reup with Ellsbury. I think Jones or Daniel Webb could handle closing games. If those guys were available for Reed, he'd be gone by now
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) I agree with you. I'd just do an Adams-Alexi flop, although I think we need a 3 WAR Center Fielder more. Our current CF had 2.7 WAR last year and would be doing the same this year had he not forgotten how to catch fly balls earlier this season
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:07 AM) Apparently Jerry Krause was scouting for the DBacks at the Sox game last night... We do have some of the best food in MLB...
  14. Marty, you've been so much more constructive lately. Why fight THIS battle? You have to know that you're just being a contrarian.
  15. Most of the regular readers here are pretty familiar with Marcus. He's a victim of a system that privileges potential and, more specifically, specific tools over holistic abilities. Marcus probably lacks any plus physical tool, so he's found himself pretty much off the radar. Well, he's now on it with his fantastic play. We're seeing: -at least adequate defense at both middle infield positions, possibly better -exceptional plate disciplines: a high walk total that outnumbers his strikeouts -some pop: he hit his 13th homer tonight -some stolen base ability, though it is sub-ideal for a potential leadoff hitter as some might see him So here's a thread to talk about him. A thread like this seemed to put Andy Wilkins on a hot streak, so why not another? Here's a question to start things off: If we trade Alexei Ramirez this week, should the White Sox call up Marcus Semien to play shortstop?

Semien showing off that 2/2 present/future power today
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Fathom, you know your baseball ... am I out of line in thinking Rios will attract nothing of value? Why would Texas want a guy who can't catch a deep drive in right field and is hitting .276. with 12 homers and 49 RBIs? Also 21 stolen bases which I guess is above average to give him credit there. What is so good about Rios that Texas would NEED him? His numbers do not scream, 'all-star.' I think you're a little off base, but it may very well be that Rios doesn't attract the kind of talent we're hoping for.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) The Phillies signing M.A. Gonzalez is great news for those that want Peavy traded to Red Sox. Indeed
  19. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:14 PM) Hey, guys, I have a twitter account and I just signed in to see who was following the site. One of the followers is a Chicago baseball writer named Paul Sulivan. Other followers are RotoBaseball, Dan Plesac, Mike Trout, Dustin Pedroia, Ben Badler and Nick Cafardo, among many others. I don't think this is a bogus site. Those are people they are following, not people that are following them
  20. I think it's a sure bet that we pick up that buyout from his last contract. Other than that, I'm not sure how much more we'll have to pay
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) I'm holding out some hope that they can make a managerial change after the season, if for no other reason than he's not going be there in 2015 anyway. Just speed up the process on that front. Hahn should be able to hire his own guy. Dan Hayes has been telling me that Rick Hahn loves Robin, that Robin wants to stay, and that ownership may have more loyalty to Robin than to Hahn -- but that there is no inkling on any side within the org. to make that change at this point in time.
  22. I'm going to vote, "Robin Ventura has had minimal impact on our record"

  24. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) You guys really think this is bogus? I didn't know you could use just use the MLB symbol wily nily and get away with it. It might be technically illegal, but there are so many people using MLB-owned images that it would be impossible to find them all. I'm guessing it is only illegal if they are profiting, anyway.
